Popped in here just on passing on a weekend evening recently. A hidden gem! Portions were huge and for a VERY reasonable price, and the quality of the food was fantastic. Everything home made and cooked to perfection. Although we hadn't booked there was no fuss, room was made and we had a wonderful meal. Staff were lovely. We will be back :)

What a wonderful little gem, hidden away off the beaten track, wonderful hosts, fantastic food and wonderful surroundings. Well worth the drive and just around the corner from Goytre Wharf! A date night in here, or even a snap decision to go would not leave you wanting more! Food is just heavenly, first class selection of drinks, amazing value for money! Thank you for your service, keep up the work guys! Tony & David

What a find! We were struggling to find somewhere open to eat on a Monday evening and stumbled across the Horseshoe Inn. Lovely hearty and delicious mains and desserts and lovely atmosphere. Friendly and attentive staff. Log fire. Reasonably priced and would definitely visit again.

Was looking for an eatery while staying in the area, only found this place due to a comment left on another place we were looking at. Pre-booked a table, arrived early were seated no issues. The inside is cosy and friendly. Was taken aback when the meals came, couldn’t believe the size of the plates and all 5 orders looked, smelled and tasted delicious, well impressed. Not got a single negative, if we had time to return before we leave I would be back!!

We found this beautiful Inn while on holiday on the canal. The staff were so welcoming and the food was delicious! They made us feel so welcome and made our dog feel at home too! The fire kept us cosy. Can’t recommend this place enough. Thank you! Rascal loved the blanket you provided and the treats! Will definitely be back next year!

Lovely food and very friendly and helpful staff. The view is stunning and on a less wet and windy day it would be great to sit outside and enjoy a drink!

As family of four, we stopped by here at the end of a day in the hills. We just googled "nearby restaurants" and this one popped up. We did not book, turning up at around six o'clock starving hungry, and there was some space to park the car. The interior was charming and traditional, warm and nicely lit with some candles and classic pub tables and seating. No booming music or rowdy clientele. We were quickly accomodated and sat down by a very polite and attentive waiter and given the menu. The starters and mains covered some really interesting choices, nothing too weird, but way better than normal "pub grub". It was a compact menu which for me is always a very good sign, but as family with a vegetarian, a fussy 12 year old and 6ft 2 teen who could eat a horse, we all had a hard time choosing from the excellent options. I went for confit duck in a cherry sauce, which was absolutely divine. My son had a homemade curry with chips and rice which he wolfed down (and proper filled him up), and my wife had a broccoli soup which she said was delicious. We managed some deserts too, even though we were stuffed after the main course. The choice of deserts was good, with classics such as bread and butter pudding and treacle tart with custard and a slice of cheesecake about half the size of a house brick. We all had some drinks (with some nice ale and IPA on tap) and the whole thing was a good chunk less than £100 for a family of four which felt more than reasonable! The waiting staff were attentive, smiling and polite and the owner was happy to chat after our meal too. We we had a lovely time and left very satisfied. This place is a real gem, if you are in the area it is worth a stop.

Nice to see this charming country former coaching inn in good regular use. The owner of seven years, his father and local staff, all work hard to achieve customer satisfaction and a pleasant dining experience. Offering a really good range of well prepared and tasty meals at reasonable prices as well as a good selection of ales with well stocked bar. This is well worth the detoure to visit. I hope you enjoy your meal here as much as we did, so good to see the business is thriving. More power to you all, your hard work and high standards were heartening to see.

On our last day in Wales, my party and I had an amazing dinner at the Horseshoe Inn. The staff were very friendly and accommodating, making sure we felt welcome with two small kids. The food was excellent - we ended up with a full three course menu as everything looked so delicious. There were several interesting vegetarian options for the non meat eaters, and I had a great lamb dish myself. I would love to come back to this nice pub again with its lovely views and warm atmosphere both to taste more of that amazing menu but also just for drinks. Thank you for a great time.

It was a wonderful happenstance. We were staying less than half a mile away from the pub, I called in to take a look on the way back to Ty-Cooke (lovely little certified location for caravans) and had a gander at the menu. I started chatting with the clientele who were very friendly and spoke highly of the pie and pint night on Wednesdays. On the strength of this, I booked a table for two, and I'm so glad I did. They had a good selection of beers and wines, so the better half and I were happy. I chose from the specials board and J from the menu. My beef bourguignon was superb, as was the bacon wrapped chicken stuffed with spinach and cream cheese, even the veg was outstanding, especially the red cabbage. Sadly, I was unable to finish it all as the portions were too generous for me, and I wanted to leave space for desert. The creme brulee with a cookie was truly excellent, as was the blackberry cheesecake, just how we both liked it. Not sweet but perfectly balanced with the fruit. We will be back to this location for a stay, and the food here is a major part of that decision. We had no right to expect such exemplary food without doing our research first, and it blew us away, and it wasn't expensive either. If you are in driving distance, you must give it a try, I can guarantee you will waddle away happy.

This was an amazing find. We fancied some proper home cooked food and picked the horseshoe at random, and we will be returning. The seating out front makes for amazing views and so peaceful! The food was delicious, we both are the lot and will be returning at some point. Highly recommend!!
