I was in town last year and I thought I would call in after I used to go into the King's Head when it was open years ago, I was greeted by warm hospitality by Rory where I felt comfortable all the time I was in, I was impressed by it all and the interior is very nice and warmly and cozy and I get a feeling of comfort from everything . Although I wasn't in there long it gave me the impression of a place I would love to go back too at some point and I will do at some point this year. Well done and all the best Rory and team you left me a positive lasting impression. Matthew
been here a few times now and personally its my favourite bar in malton and can see why its been voted in the top 5 best bars in the north yorkshire area by minster fm the ambiance is top notch, friendly staff and welcoming clientele so on that note its gotta be a 5/5 from me!!!
We visited Molton for the first time today, and happened to stumble across this bar, I say stumble, we were drawn to it like a moth to a light bulb, it looks really great sat in a prominent position overlooking the market. The interior decor is so 'now' we felt at home as soon as we walked in. Rory was an exelaint host, and is master of gin cocktails, we had a couple. All the staff were so friendly and made us welcome. Talking to some of the locals I understand the bar is relatively new, and that Rory had put a massive amount of effort into getting Chapter Two off the ground, and it shows. Well done guys, the people of Molton are so lucky to have such a Bar. We will be back. Highly recommend this place, open from 10.30 so you could call for coffee if it's a like early for drinks�

Had a lovely evening last night in Chapter Two Bar. The atmosphere was superb and was an ideal place to meet friends for delicious gin cocktails. Rory is a superb host and I highly recommend a visit...either for evening drinks or a mid morning coffee whilst shopping.

Been a few times since it opened and I actually enjoy going for a drink in my local town now so thank you , well furnished, great service, and highly recommend the cocktails can't wait to sample the new gin ones.

Absolutely faultless from start to finish, Rory is the perfect host, the staff are friendly, very pretty and above all, very competent, The entertainment (ARC) were brilliant, the beer, wine and spirits were all spot on, clean, well equipped toilets and real nice clientele,
What a great new bar In the centre of Malton overlooking the market place. Beer's good, service is excellent and it has a really nice atmosphere.
Enjoyed cocktails and guest ales.
Lovely decor with a range of sofas, tables and chairs to relax.

Popped in for a swift drink before an event I was attending in Malton. Small selection of real ale (2 or 3) good selection of other drinks on tap. Friendly staff, good service, well kept beer, clean, comfortable surroundings
EDIT: Chapter two is fast becoming my 'go to' place when I am in Malton. Been in both with and without the dog for a drink and went in with the dog (and the husband) for lunch one Saturday. The place was full, lots of people eating, we were told on arrival that service was approximately 20 minutes longer than usual due to the high volume of customers. We were kept updated on the waiting time and staff were absolutely lovely. The ploughman's was lovely and served with a little glass of cider and my husband had the Nacho's off the specials board which he thoroughly enjoyed.

Located just off the market square we arrived just after lunch on Friday and parked (free) just outside the bar.
Bar was excellent with a nice snug with a coal fire lit 🔥 and a couple of real ales on as well as all the usual beverages.
We were shown to our room which was in a complex just out the back.
Room was faultless.. clean.. quiet, and comfortable. Good range of tea and coffee and biscuits... Nice ensuite. Comfy twin beds.
Excellent and highly recommended.
Lots of lovely shops and cafés within easy walking distance and the market on Friday and Saturday had excellent top quality stalls selling locally produced items.
Malton is indeed the capital of Food in Yorkshire.
Lovely pub, nice cosy decor. I wanted to write this review as a Thankyou for what did for me this weekend. I left my handbag in there, which contained quite a few valuables plus some cash. A staff member found it and kept it safe for me until I realised the next day. Such relief to have it returned, and shows how trustworthy the staff are for it to be untouched. Thanks again.
Visited in Saturday while in the area on holiday, just wanted a light lunch and we're delighted with what we had. Curried carrot soup and toasted cheese scone with a side of salad, cheese and chutney were delicious and at a very reasonable price. Staff were lovely too.
Had a good pint there today... just hope they keep a good bitter on tap in the future as they usually only have naff light ale on tap... be really awesome if they introduced a ruby ale on tap, just saying...

We found Chapter 2 on Tuesday after a long walk and in need of liquid refreshment, and most other bars were shut. We were really pleased that you served two good real ales which were kept really well, and there were some great bar snacks too. Your bar staff were lovely, and very knowledgeable. We chose to sit out the back which had a nice courtyard feel (though the inside was nice too). We would definitely visit again when we are next in Malton

Been twice this week, both times staff were pleasant and helpful. 2nd time had lunch, sandwich with soup, and cheese scone again with soup. Both meals were well presented, tasty and at a reasonable price. Try this place if you are in the area. I'm sure you won't be disappointed.
We stopped at Malton for lunch looking for somewhere to eat, we decided to pop into the Chapter Two bar to see what they had on offer, fair to say it didn't disapoint.
As we entered the building we were greeted by the friendly staff.
Although the lunch menu was limited to a few meals their was still a fairly choice.
The bar felt very welcoming and had a lovely atmosphere we will definitely visit again when we are in the area.
Their is a car park opposite which offers 2 hrs free parking so their is no need to rush.
Great pub, great food, great service, real comfy cosy place visit every time we are in the area.
Stopped here for lunch, good choice of different things, fair prices, swift friendly service. Chef likes chilli in his excellent homemade soups!

Popped in here for lunch after a walk round the Market Place in Malton. We had the Creamed Mulligatawny Soup which was excellent and I shared a hot pork sandwich with stuffing and apple sauce with a friend. The meat was cooked perfectly and the bread roll complimented the filling perfectly.
We had a few drinks all of which were well kept. Each member of staff was friendly and attentive. I can wholeheartedly recommend the bar for a visit.
Hopefully I'll be able to visit again in the not too distant future
It would seem my previous review vanished and having seen some of the ignorant comments I thought compelled to repost.
Stayed here back in September for a friends wedding and was very pleased with what I paid for. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. The hotel is perfectly located and has many places to eat within a short walk.
Rory was very accommodating and enjoyed a nice chat with him in the hotels pub/bar. Witty and friendly host. One of life’s good characters!
Will visit again one day for sure!
We came here for a drink and light lunch on our weekend trip to Malton, the staff were so lovely. I can't drink but the bartender was kind enough to make me an alcohol free daiquiri, and when she realised she had no puree she actually chopped up real strawberries for it and it was very nice! We weren't all that hungry but we shared a plate of nachos which were very tasty. I'd definitely recommend this place as a cosy stop for a walking holiday. Good value for money and dog friendly too!
We went in twice over the New Year week. The staff were super friendly with efficient service and a good chat about the history of the restaurant. Our food was very tasty and very good value for money. When in Malton again we definitely will return
