Landlord is a miserable old so-and-so. His henchman has learnt from the master. Bar and waiting staff are often useless. BUT it's the best pub in Town - as long as you don't have a dog. Highly recommended for the beer, prices and the craic. Food is also always good.
We were away on a mini break and it was our last night. It was so nice to have a meal here, I had a burger and chips and my partner had fish n chips. The staff were friendly, the food was fresh and hot. If we are ever there again we will come back and would recommend if you're ever in the area.
This is one of Malmesbury's best kept secrets. Totally unassuming and while other places come & go this has been a fixture for as long as I can remember.
Not the widest menu, but as many will know that is a good thing! There are day specials on the blackboard to keep it intesting. Been there many times over the years and the food has always been good. Never been disappointed.
Tip: Get a table next to the large window to get the best view of the high street I know.
To summarise: honest and unpretentious.
We’ve been here before and it’s a warm friendly atmosphere in a family run eatery and pub. The locals know each other and frequent the place regularly. Great value, delicious Sunday roast the day we came.
A traditional and well kept small pub in the heart of this Cotswolds market town. A great selection of local real ales. The restaurant side offers a fantastic Sunday roast but prior booking is essential as space is very limited. Don't expect to see TVs everywhere showing 5 different sports all at the same time but rather a great spot to sit and chat over a pint.
Great selection of beer and wine while being the perfect place to sit and watch the world go by. Good food as well
A very pleasant light lunch,today
Good value & service
Rustic setting & clean
Surprised not better

It is a great place to eat and chill. The food was very good, and very reasonably priced as well.
Lovely situated in Malmesbury. Clean, attractive. Husband assures me beer always perfect.
Menu choice has reduced over the years. Where's the Nut Roast gone? I looked forward to that! However Food hot and tasty.
Been retuning for 30 years. Says it all
A welcoming watering hole with a good selection of regular and guest beers always on tap. They serve some nice wines as well. A place where you'll not be on your own for very long. Yet to try the restaurant but I'm told it's worth a visit.
Sunday lunch here is excellent. The 1st time I visited I felt they scrimped on the roast potatoes, so when I went back for my 2nd visit I asked if I could have extra roasters, even if I had to pay, the friendly waitress informed me there was a charge, and I had £2 added to my bill. As a chef myself, and eaten out several times for Sunday roast, the whole hog is not alone in serving a slightly smaller portion of roasters, most places are the same, what gets me is, potatoes are the cheapest ingredient on the plate.
