Well I can honestly say after travelling the world and experiencing a lot of low end to high end restaurants, the giggling squid in Maidstone showed many how it’s really done. Abbie our waitress for the even had a glowing personality and was great the whole evening.
The food was amazing and such a great taste experience on every dish we had! I’d highly recommend this restaurant to anyone
A belated birthday meal and as this was our first visit we were a little anxious as Thai food can sometimes be quite overpowering.
We were all really pleasantly surprised how good the food was. Well presented and very tasty. The mocktails definitely get a thumbs-up and the ice-cream choices were different, although we were all a bit put off by the texture of the black sesame ice-cream. Our server Lily was welcoming, friendly and attentive.
We will be making a return visit.
Really nice atmosphere and nicely decorated restaurant. Service was brilliant and the food was delicious and really well presented. Good sized portions and a good selection of both meat and vegetarian/vegan dishes.
Would highly recommend the Isaan sharing platter.
Visited here for an anniversary meal and enjoyed it very much!
We were greeted by a male manager who was very polite and friendly, he sat us down and throughout our visit popped to check we were ok.
The female waitress was also very friendly helpful and attentive.
The food was lovely and very filling! The cocktails were also very yummy!
Had a fantastic spot of lunch at Giggling Squid, Maidstone, on Saturday, 13/05/23, in the afternoon. You could close your eyes and imagine you were back in Thailand, only better it was that impressive. Veggies/Vegans are welcome and catered for too, just ask for the veggie menu. Fresh veg used as if they'd just picked it out the garden unbelievable excellent quality food, fresh meat and fish and also great value for money. Wide wide range of beverages to wash it down with, too. The ginger beer was awesome. I swear it was homemade. All the classics are on the menu with a tasty Giggling Squid authentic Thai twist. The restaurant is spacious and has a wide bar awesome decor and extra seating round the back, fantastic friendly atmosphere, warm friendly welcoming staff, big big thanks to Lydia for her sterling advice and recommendations on veggie/vegan dishes and on the prawn dish my wife had. Lydia was spot on. Everything was lush, colourful, really tasty and just awesome, as you can see from the pictures. We couldn't find fault with anything, we were both hooked from the 1st mouthful to the last, so it's 1000/1000 from us and 1000/1000 for the recommendations and table service from the amazing awesome Lydia, who gave us 1000% awesome customer service and an excellent dining experience. We're looking forward to dining at Giggling Squid again real soon and sampling some more of their wide range of delicious dishes on their menu. If you like Thai food as much as we do, you have to try Giggling Squid. You'll be amazed and absolutely delighted by how awesome their dishes are. Trust me. You won't be disappointed. The tastes and smells of Thai food bought back so many happy memories of me and the wife's Thai wedding over 12 years ago, which was just unexpected but also really lovely too.
Came here for a mid-week lunch. There's a lovely interior to the restaurant. We ate in one of the front dining rooms. A walk to the back of the building for the toilet revealed an equally well-decorated larger dining area. A very extensive menu of well-cooked, well-presented and flavoursome dishes. Some of the portion sizes appeared small but the food was filling. We had two children with us who equally enjoyed their menu. The waitress was friendly but not the most competent. The only other downside was the room temperature - it was sweltering!
We had our dinner three evenings in a row. Great service. Delicious food and the bill not big. Thank you
Excellent food and service, only small negative was we sat on a table in the middle of the restaurant where staff would pass by and very close to the till.
The restaurant is ok, service was good, decor was lovely, food was tasty and good but expected a little better to be honest for the reputation and price.
Amazing staff! super polite! Food cooked to perfection! Cosy seating!
Went to lunch with a friend here and was pleasantly surprised. The menu was extensive across all courses with a good selection of drinks (including non-alcoholic).
The food came quickly, was beautifully presented and tasted great. Our waiter looked after us well ensuring that he checked back after delivering food to make sure it was OK.
Large building with lots of tables and modern decor. Toilets well kept however stalls are slightly on the small side, both width and length. I do feel the female toilets would benefit from a full length mirror.
Overall, a wonderful visit and will definitely be back.
I've been to the Giggling squid twice now. Both times, the food was good, with the exception of the dumplings. Our food came at a reasonable waiting time. There is a nice selection of drinks. However, not all drinks are available, and we were not told until we went to order them.
The atmosphere of the restaurant is very appealing, with its only issue having to lift my pram up the steps to be able to enter.
The service depends on whom you get. The waitress we had on our first visit was lovely, explaining the food, giving suggestions, and making light conversations with us. Where as our more recent visit, the waitress did none of those things, and it became awkward every time she came over.
We visited here for my partners Mothers birthday and were amazed. Beautiful restaurant, amazing atmosphere, extremely clean and very organised. The bar was very quick and the cocktails tasted gorgeous! Food was the same; fast and tasty 😋 Our waitress, Alfie, was also fabulous: funny, charming and generous. He trully went out of his way to give us the best experience and we trully appreciated that.
It is one of the best calamari I've had, beautiful restaurant's, friendly staff, and lovely food. I would highly recommend it.
Enjoyed a recent visit to The Giggling Squid in Maidstone, for a birthday celebration for a party of 7. The Giggling Squid interior is quirky, which adds a unique charm to the meal, made it feel like you have stepped into a hidden gem.
There was plenty of options on the menu that were very enticing, however, one dish for me that stood out was the Crispy Spiced Seafood Salad, it was a explosion of flavors and textures, and I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone who visits The Giggling Squid
Overall experience was excellent value for the money we spent, portions were generous, and the quality of the food justified the prices.
No one left feeling hungry, and we all had smiles on our faces.
The staff were attentive, our food arrived at the same time for the whole group, which is no small feat when dining with a larger party.
A quirky decor, great menu, attentive service, and the unforgettable Crispy Spiced Seafood Salad made it for us.
Thank you
My first experience of eating here was a positive experience. Lovely food, attentive and polite staff. All in all an enjoyable birthday meal for a friend and party of 5. Thank you all.
Had a wonderful time celebrating our anniversary at the giggling squid. A place we'd heard of but never been and we're glad we did. We started with a Chang Mai platter which was a perfect way to start and allowed us to eat the famed salt and pepper squid and it's not joke. Literally some of the best squid I've ever eaten! We then went onto mains, pad thai and a lamb shank massaman curry and the lamb fell clean off the bone - the best massaman I have ever had. The pad thai was good, although the prawns could have done with more seasoning. We had a slight hiccup with our dessert, but our waitress handled it really well and offered to wipe it from the bill. We will be returning regardless for our next Thai fix!
Seriously this Thai food was amazing. Loved the tapas menus and could quite happy return again and again to try them all. Stunning decor, lovely staff and value for money we believe.
The only slight negative I have is that the entrance while is beautiful could be a bit more obvious as at first it looked like two normal front doors ans we didn’t know which one to go through but seriously that’s the only criticism, it’s lovely. Can’t wait to go back and try some cocktails next time as well.
