Couldn't recommend this restaurant enough, a little bit of a hidden gem but a stunning setting and gorgeous food. Staff were very friendly (and Spanish) and prices considering how good the food is and how plentiful were very reasonable. Looking forward to coming back already!
We visited here tonight for an anniversary meal. As always the food service and atmosphere were outstanding.
This is a perfect restaurant for a snack and a glass of wine or a meal.

Have been visiting and enjoying this restaurant, whenever I’m in the country, since it opened at the previous location (Union Street) and I love it even more at its new spot in the old church. My dad is Spanish so I know about real tapas... and La Taberna serves delicious, authentic dishes. The owners/staff are really lovely and I enjoy practising my Spanish with them whenever my dad and I visit. Lovely place... I fully recommend it! :)
I visited with a friend and had a lovely meal. The staff were incredibly attentive and made us feel as if nothing was too much trouble. And they catered brilliantly for my vegan diet. We had the vegetarian paella and it was delicious. We will definitely return. 😃

This has to be the stand out place to eat in Maidstone, superb setting and the food was faultless , no wonder there is a wait for a table on a Friday and Saturday.

Just had the most awesome amazing tapas at La Taberna. We couldn't fault a thing, everything was top draw authentic Spanish cuisine. Lovely restaurant, lots of space, inside and outside. Every dish was delish, vegans, veggies catered for, top draw dynamite dining, check out the pics, friendly staff, huge massive portions, great value for money, 1000/1000 if your in Maidstone and you're up for something different La Taberna is the place too be. Will definitely be coming back for more... it's just like being back in Spain 100%...

What an absolute gem. I loved this place. The building was beautiful. The staff were wonderful and were so helpful to get this surprise set up for my dear friend. We all throughly enjoyed the food and non alcoholic sangria's and mojito's.
Came here with friends and had the most amazing evening. All the food was absolutely perfect, staff were polite and friendly and the atmosphere was just nice and chilled sitting outside. And just to add, best calamari I have ever eaten! Will definitely be coming back.

The paella was very good, as was the white house wine as an accompaniment to our delicious meal. The desert was also beautifully presented and very tasty. My only complaint (a minor one) was that the Pulpo a La Galega (octopus) was cut too thinly. It tasted great, served over potatoes, but I can't forget the portions of pulpo we enjoyed in Galicia. The service was excellent and very friendly. We will definitely return to try the tapas.
Every dish is perfectly executed. Fried chilly has great texture, grill the squid is actually really tender. It just not much surprise flavor wise, but it’s probably because the items I ordered. I would like to come back and try more dishes.
We were here in April for my birthday meal. It had been recommended by a friend who lived and worked in Spain and he said it was really authentic.
He was absolutely right! This is a family run restaurant with an entirely Spanish menu. The food was wonderful! Paella needs to be ordered in advance and is for a minimum of two people. It was well worth doing so! Lots of tapas choices, too.
The restaurant is a converted church and the interior is still reminiscent. Plenty of space between tables, so no overcrowding issues.
Service is also excellent. Very attentive without being overbearing.
Lovely place. Walked in as they opened, had not booked. Noticed they had a sofa seating/chill area, but got a table straight away. Food was wonderful, as was the service. Will be my new go-to place when in Maidstone.
We had an amazing evening here. The best bit for us was the service.our friend dropped her phone in the toilet (without knowing) when found the staff popped into rice in the hope of saving the wine which is very good of them for sure
This has to be one of my favourite local restaurants. I have been several times from big groups as well as just me and my partner. The service and quality never seems to falter. The patatas bravas are ADDICTIVE! I love the building and the general relaxed atmosphere. I 100% recommend to anyone
What a grand eating venue. The historic building that houses La Taberna feels more in tune with Octoberfest celebrations than quaint Spanish dining. That said, with decor and atmosphere in line with a Latin flavour you could swear you were transported to an Iberian eatery.
Service is humble, with a definite family feel. Staff are happy smiley and serve with care. Food is light and punchy, definitely in line with Mediterranean food I’ve eaten in the past.
An enjoyable, albeit not the most intimate, experience, great for groups.
Belated Valentine lunch. Fabulous, friendly and attentive service. Super ambience. Food was good and the recommended 2 dishes per person was ample though we had the large mixed seafood. Such a delight to have squid cooked to perfection in a lovely light batter. The Guindillas de Ibarra (chilli roulette!) were fab. Loved the Rebujito cocktail too!!!
Enjoyed the food too much to remember to do photos before it was just empty plates!

Mostly superb.
The food was well presented and rapidly delivered. Soda and lime was totally flat but otherwise my only other complaint was the occasional difficulty in getting a waitress in this not busy venue to actually serve us.
All courses were delicious and well prepared. The desserts were delicious too, light and perfect accompaniments.
First time here and definitely not the last, food and service was amazing especially the paella the seafood was cooked to perfection. The staff couldn't have been more friendly and the building has a fantastic atmosphere. Thoroughly enjoyed it and can't wait to go back.
Very good restaurant for Tapas. In a Grade I building so the restaurant was unique inside and outside. Food was delicious, everything served piping hot on a little cast iron pan. Service was very good too. Owner is very friendly too.
