The Three Horseshoes has been an integral part of Madingley, a lovely village three miles from the centre of Cambridge. The charming pub/restaurant entered an exciting new chapter in January 2018 when it joined Cambscuisine, a local independent restaurant group. The Three Horseshoes is Cambscuisine’s ninth venture, which includes their other country pubs The Cock (Hemingford Grey), The Tickell Arms (Whittlesford) and The Crown & Punchbowl (Horningsea). I’m a big fan of Cambscuisine’s model of good food, service and ambience.
The pub itself is so pretty - thatched roof, stunning conservatory and outdoor pods for those interested. Quintessential country side pub vibe, but classy. The food was divine - had the hangar steak for main and poached pear for dessert. Exquisite cooking. Highly recommend. Around a 15 min drive to Cambridge, so quite conveniently located as well.
This is a must place to visit for a meal. Beautiful setting for an outstanding restaurant. From the moment we arrived the staff were welcoming and extremely helpful. The food was exceptional. I had the mussels on toast as a starter was brilliant followed by the best Pork chop I have every tasted. Well done to the manager and staff my husband and I can't praise you enough.
We had a delicious Sunday lunch here, beautifully cooked and presented. The vegetarian option was original and so full of flavour, far superior to most places. The wines are good too, my house white a good accompaniment to the grilled aubergine.
We went for Saturday lunch. Superb ambience and great service. Good choice of food, including vegetarian options for mains and starters. My butterflied mackerel was good but had a few tiny bones which let it down
Only intended to pop out for a quick drink…then decided to stay for lunch! Fabulous welcoming atmosphere, excellent service, wonderful lunch and top range of beers. Unexpected Monday treat. Thank you!
Really lovely country pub serving superb food at very reasonable prices. Brilliant service with a varied and unusual menu with plenty of vegetarian options. Also situated in nice gardens with dining pods, in a lovely village.
Had the pleasure to return to The Three Horseshoes for Sunday lunch, and wasn't disappointed. In my opinion, still the best Sunday Lunch in Cambridgeshire.
Service was impeccable, every dish delicious, including the vegetarian option for some of our party.
A special mention for the Korean Fried cauliflower in their Kick Offs section, we all agreed was just perfect and delicious.
Can't fault, will be returning.
Wonderful location and charming premises. Food portions very small for price. Top gourmet chef. I prefer more traditional pub food but this is definitely Michelin star type food if you like that sort of thing. Poor service.
Had a very nice lunch with family. Excellent service from friendly & professional staff. Food very good and well presented.
This establishment had the most wonderful food and although it is not cheap the food it top quality and worth every penny. I would dine there every week if I lived locally. Staff are efficient and really friendly. Well worth a visit.
