Can’t believe it took us so long to visit this diamond of a restaurant. The menu may be smaller but the flavours are mighty with enough selection to please every palate.
We started with Prawn Skagen and the specials Cauli Filo rolls which were both very tasty, I could’ve just eaten a plate of the Cauli rolls!
We then had the specials feta & strawberry salad and the spring cabbage leaves. The salad was so light and fresh with delicious strawberries, green beans and feta, very summery. The cabbage leaves filled with quinoa, peas, miso garlic mushrooms on a broad bean mash with maple and soy was just superb. We shared every course and took a rhubarb streusel home for our daughter as it was GF. Definitely one of the best restaurants in Macclesfield. Thank you Jo for a wonderful meal, we will be back!

Food is absolutely delicious, presented so beautifully too. Staff are so warm and welcoming. Decor is lovely. Only regret is not visiting sooner. Can't wait to go back.
Have lunch here every month. Staff very pleasant and attentive. Menu is limited but food is good. Small interior but a pleasant place for meeting up and it won't cost you a fortune. Sandwiches are a bit different from the norm and are very tasty.
Excellent lunch today, we shared a pickling plate of seven items together with a prawn skagen which were both beautifully presented freshly prepared and tasty. The service was relaxed and we felt very comfortable in the cafe environment. It was clear that the staff are covid aware and its reassuring to see. Would go back without hesitation when we are in the area again.
Had a cracking meal at The Salt Bar. Nice set up and atmosphere. Great staff. I had cod with a tomato and butter bean stew and chorizo which was cooked well and tasted delicious 😋
We finally made it here for dinner after a year of recommendations and we were very impressed. They find the perfect balance between friendly / attentive and professional. And the food was fantastic to boot!
We had the smorgasbord to start (absolutely loved the pickled carrots!), the meatballs and treacle burger for main and then for dessert, shared the marzipan tarts and chokoladebollar (spelling?! 😅). All the courses were fantastic and we'll definitely be recommending to all our friends and returning soon!
The two of us enjoyed a lunch here yesterday during the Treacle Market. We chose the six item sharing board £18 and a bottle of Chenin Blanc with cheese board to finish. It was a delight from beginning to end. Friendly attentive service, clean fresh home made food and a relaxed ambience. One of our favorite lunches for a long while. Highly recommended.
PS I used to visit Sweden a lot, and this reminded me very much of that cuisine.
Lovely restaurant! The food was delicious and the service second to none. Only our first time here and look forward to coming back for the rest of the menu!
Lovely little restaurant with food freshly cooked to order
I ordered a haddock dish which was great, with a side of fries. I can't comment if it was a fully Scandinavian style (I've not visited Scandinavia enough to comment) but it was still very flavourful and what I was in the mood for!
Thought I would still be hungry when the dish arrived but actually it was just right.
Note the menu is quite limited if you are vegetarian or pescatarian like me.
My only criticism would be that the restaurant felt a bit cold (in temperature). We came as a group of 3 on a quiet evening.
Lovley place in the heart of Macclesfield. Very refreshing to have good service and good either a tasteful Scandinavian touch
