We chose Ruth Denzey's "The Bistro" to cater for our wedding this month as we loved the idea of an afternoon tea and Ruth was the only one of our recommened suppliers that offered it. We loved the idea of afternoon tea as it's informal, down to earth and relaxed, like us. We wanted our wedding to be "us". We also love afternoon tea. The slight challenge was whether Ruth would be able to cater for my fussy vegan needs and two guests who were gluten free. This challenge was accepted and successfully met. Nothing was too much trouble. After meeting Ruth at a tasting session, tasting her food and finding that she was also very down to earth and warm, like us, it was a no brainer, we had to pick Ruth. On the day of the wedding the food looked and tasted amazing! The kids boxes even matched our colour scheme which was a lovely touch. Ruth managed everything seamlessly, efficiently, and effectively, even with a late ceremony. We didn't have to worry about anything and we didn't have to do anything, we could just relax and enjoy the meal. This was much appreciated. We had lots of comments about how wonderful the food was. Thanks Ruth for a great afternoon tea wedding experience. I wouldn't hestiate to recommend The Bistro, Ruth and the afternoon tea. Yum Yum.

What a fantastic little place! Staff are very friendly and welcoming. Food is delicious myself and my husband will be back. Would recommend this hidden gem.
Lovely .. Great spot, beautiful walk with stunning views over the marsh ... Popped in for a spot of lunch after a muddy dog walk ... Super friendly and efficient staff and nice food too, we had a couple of soups and coffees ... Will definitely return ..
I attended the French theme evening last night with my parents, the food was delicious (especially the duck which melted in your mouth), the staff were friendly and attentive and the atmosphere was lovely. Would definitely recommend.

Had a fabulous groupon Afternoon Tea for four here yesterday! The staff were so friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble, the food was scrummy and a big thank you for making me a totally gluten free option with sandwiches, pancakes, meringue nest and the most gorgeous chocolate brownie! Will definitely be back for lunch as the menu looks amazing!
Have been meaning to come here for a while. Stopped there today for brunch. The menu looked amazing and was very hard to decide! Great friendly service and brunch was fresh and delicious! Will definitely be back! Will be recommending to my friends too!
What a great find! After a long walk with the dogs we stopped here for coffee and what turned out to be amazing food. The Advocado, Brie & Bacon on Ciabatta was delicious, and the Salt Beef on Sourdough out of this world. The service was spot on and water was offered for the dogs. All happy and we'll be back!
A beautifully situated place with fantastic food and impeccable service. Looking forward to many return visits!
Great little find. Loved our food and good wine to boot.
Been here a couple of times now. It’s a proper sun trap in the right day and the food is simple, but very tasty.
Always get great service here. Food is amazing. The Brie, bacon and avocado ciabatta is amazing.
A lovely birthday lunch with family, great setting and service
Wow, what a gem of a place! Came here today for lunch and it was absolutely delicious. My friend and I chose the corn and courgette fritters with Haloumi and a side order of fries. This place oozed ambience and style and the menu was fairly priced. If I was to find something to criticize it would be that the outside dining needs some snazzy umbrella's to shield from the best/worst of the English weather. We would have loved to have dined outside in the pretty courtyard but we were forced inside by a passing shower. This was just a little niggle and wouldn't stop us from returning.
Great place. Food is really tasty especially the cakes. Coffee is decent. The place has some character. Clean and spacious with seating outside. You can park outside on the road or in the castle car park. You can go for a walk around here. They also welcome rambles and hikers in the bistro. We received very good service. It is little expensive.
Nice place, nice food, good selection of homemade cakes though I didn't have one. I just had one dish, "giant fishfinger and tartar", not entirely descriptive on the menu. Turned out to be a sandwhich which was nice, and I had the option of white or brown bread. Not sure what was giant or exceptional about it. The tar tar was very nice. It was a nice sandwhich but it seemed way overpriced for £9 with some standard crisps on the side.
The ambiance is quite nice, good service.
Parking is a bit tricky
The drinks seemed a bit pricey for what they were, £3 for water and sparkling water.
Would go again, but feel there are cheaper places that are as nice.
Enjoyed a wonderful cream tea with friends in this delightful restaurant. . Scones, cakes etc were very fresh and staff very friendly and helpful, offering unlimited tea and cake boxes to take the surplus home. Highly recommend this charming place in its characterful location.
We found this little gem of a restaurant a few year's ago whilst on a dog walk around Port Lympne zoo. It is nestled next to Lymnpe Castle and you might not realise it is there. Wow what a find, we have always been impressed by
the lovely staff and especially Linda who works front of house and runs it very well. We had the pleasure of meeting the head chef Richard today, he was letting us know about the local produce and what he had planned for the next few months regarding the menu, sounds fabulous. The food here is always fresh (NOT FROZEN) and arrives at your table piping hot, a wide variety of dishes to suit all palate's. If you haven't visted this amazing restaurant you will be in for a very pleasant surprise when you do:) i had the roast pork hubby had seabream and daughter had Nutroast. Oh i forgot to mention desserts OMG BLOODY AMAZING!!!!!!!
Lovely feel to this place, nice and cosy :) I went for a Baby Shower, and we had Afternoon Tea. Having had a vegan cream tea from a very expensive boutique hotel, which was awful (a fruit kebab instead of cake!), I didn't expect much from this one. What a delightful surprise! Beautiful sandwich fillings, excellent scone, and the most amazing chocolate cake, all vegan friendly ❤️ Will be returning.
First visit, very surprised but lovely. We had a beautiful meal and the chef and waiter service was wonderful. We will definately tell family and friends about this rustic place, a beautiful place off the beaten track.
A hidden gem with one of the best places to have lunch in the area.
If you don't want to eat in, take a out their wonderful ham and salad sandwich and pop in next door to St Stephens Church - the door is open all day. Behind the church there is a bench from where you can sit and appreciate the views.
When in the UK we usually spend our lunch breaks here at least once during our stay. The food is always great however, we never manage to get back to work in time as the freshly prepared food takes much time.
Good menu tables inside and out.limited opening as staffshortage.food excellent especially Sunday roast and desserts.lovely location.
Great food dont choose the obvious menu items try the specials, but make sure u dont seat on a reserved table without knowing it could be curtly told to yu
Delightful hidden gem, with a wonderfully sunny courtyard. Perfect for delicious home made meals or stopover drinks / afternoon teas.
This place is amazing! Delicious fresh food. Will make it a regular visit whenever we are on our way to the Eurotunnel.
Really friendly and great food. If you want something special (brunch for 22 people) give them a ring
