For someone who doesn't really like roast dinners this place has converted me! Today we had yet another amazing Sunday lunch.
The food is outstanding quality and the portion sizes are huge. The pub itself is an absolutely charming, the pinnacle of quaint, beautiful English pub with so much history.
All topped off with an amazing team!
I honestly cannot recommend this place highly enough.
Steve the owner chef of this ancient pub has a special place on his hands with great staff members and the most amazing food, sprinkled with the odd spooky added in for good measure. Been just two times at the moment but this is now my one and a half hour drive away local!!
Delicious, plentiful food, excellent wine choice, extremely friendly and welcoming staff, beautiful garden and dog friendly.. what more can you ask for? Can highly recommend
Called to say we had a dog and they were lovely. We arrived for our meal and it was the best meal we'd ever had, cooked to perfection. And delightful staff who looked after us. I'd recommend a visit to anyone and have told all my friends
My son took me to the Fleur today for my birthday, one of the best meals we've had in a long time, I can't recommend it enough, big thanks to Steve for the extra special birthday desert , a lovely touch
A huge thank you to the for our free lunch today for being their 1001 Like on Facebook. It was the best dressed crab that we've ever eaten! Thanks to Vanessa, Charlotte and Steve.
Had the most amazing food here - can't recommend it highly enough. Well worth a visit - will definitely be coming again next year!
Not been in the area long so rely on web page reviews. Wanted somewhere local and cosy for my husbands birthday so chose to try the Fleur-de-Lys. We were not disappointed, the staff are really helpful and friendly and the food is to die for! Best liver I’ve ever had in a restaurant Owner is a very charming guy, and if he reads this all I can say is “much better than the Muddy Duck”. We will be back.
Went to the Fleur de Lys today for Sunday Lunch for my Mums birthday. Best Sunday Lunch i have ever eaten. The puddings were out of this world. Thank you Steve and to your wonderful staff for such amazing service and fantastic food. Can't wait to come back x

The most delicious amazing scallops followed by the best Sunday roast. Thank you chef. Topped up with brilliant staff and superb wine. Please visit. You will never be disappointed x
Had an amazing 80th celebration lunch on Saturday. Food was fabulous especially the mushroom soup and fish platter. Will definitely visit again.
Had a gorgeous roast dinner for Mother’s Day. Highly recommend this beautiful gem in the forest village of Pilley
We had a fantastic meal, great service, delicious food, relaxed atmosphere, wonderful evening. We will be back.
We visited for the first time for a birthday celebration on 28/10/23. The food was superb. Portion sizes were very generous. The service was great. And it was a lovely atmosphere. The only drawback, was the wood fire which irritated our eyes. But apart from this, the waiter and chef were extremely attentive, courteous and very kind. All we can say is, this is a fantastic place to go for a great meal with friends and family. Thank you for making my birthday meal a memorable occasion with my wonderful friends.
One of my all time favourite restaurants! Steve and all of his staff always go above and beyond for you. Such a gorgeous venue with beautiful delicious food. You will never have a bad experience coming here. The best!
Having not been back since the devastation of Steve and team leaving a couple of years ago we thought “why not” and decided to go back last night, and following what can only be described as a meal to die for, we spotted some familiar faces in the kitchen which instantly explained why the meal we had just experienced was so amazing. Best birthday present for a long time to see Steve and the team back in residence. Not good for my waistline but happy to run a few extra miles to off set going back on a regular basis :) So happy 😀
Lovely place to visit. Very old. Oldest pub in Dorset. Lovely garden setting. Well worth a visit if in the area.
Overall very very good
Not cheap but excellent in a beautiful old chatched pub
Lovely setting in an old fashioned cottage pub. Staff friendly and attentive.
Food… what can I say?! Wow! 10/10!
Pork belly - rich and mouth-wateringly tender
Venison - beautiful flavour and cooked to perfection.
Can honestly say this meal was perfect!
Lovely traditional pub with the best roast I have ever had, every element of it was cooked to perfection, staff was friendly and service was fast and efficient. We will definitely be back!
We visited here while staying in the New Forest in January for an evening meal. They had just reopened that night and it was very quiet but it was mid week. The food was exceptional and my gluten free needs were easily accommodated for. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, the chef came over and spoke to us at the end of our meal and checked we were happy with the new menu - we certainly were ! Highly recommended if you’re in the area. Sorry I didn’t get a photo of the mains - I couldn’t wait to tuck in !
Wow! What incredible food! I had the hoisin duck and homemade chorizo salad, another member of our party had the beef wellington and the other had the crab. All were fantastic. I was unsure of the duck and chorizo combination but it worked really well.
It's not the fastest of services, but the food definitely worth the wait. I had the crème brûlée for dessert which was delicious. I'm so used to getting a thin layer of crème under a thin crust of brûlée that the deep ramekin came as quite a surprise. It was a luxuriant silky smooth custard and the sugar was nicely burnt.
I can't recommend this place enough. The menu is small but it's clear the kitchen is focusing on getting each dish as good as they can.
The pub itself is lovely and the gardens are well maintained. All in all a fantastic place that I hope to visit again if I'm in the area.
My partner and I had an amazing meal here. Great attention to detail, and super friendly host. We will return soon!
Thank you for a wonderful evening! Everything was fantastic! I tried some of the wellington, wow!!
We took a day trip to the new forest with the mindset we specifically wanted to find an old, independent, local pub for food. And having spotted a tiny blackboard advertising a 10th century pub, we found this place! And what a cracking find. It's quite a way from the blackboard on the main road (and you'll actually find a different pub first) but keep going along the same road and you will find this one!
Beautiful interior and a very cool garden. Plenty of different seating areas and cover. We actually sat outside in the rain but remained totally dry.
We had the Sunday menu, and had starters and mains. The price here is certainly top shelf, but so is the quality of food. A couple of starters, mains and a drink each will set you back in the region of £75, but you pay a premium for being in the new forest. The food is delicious. We both put the beef roast as one of the best we have ever had.
Lovely thatched pub in the middle of the New Forest. I went with my family for a Sunday Roast on a mini break near Lymington. We sat in the pretty garden and were really pleased with the fantastic welcoming service. Our young family (4 year old and 4 month old) were very welcome and catered for. Our son had a smaller roast dinner which was thoughtfully offered by the waitress. We also had delicious starters, the scallops were exceptional. The roast was also fantastic. Highly recommended!
Excellent evening enjoyed us and by my family visiting from Manhatten - they were very impressed. In spite of staff shortages they coped very well on a busy Saturday night. Well done Steve and the team.
Oldest pub in the New Forest, claims to have had beer sold on the site since 1090's, Landlords since 1400's listed. Originally a two room cottage, much extended over the centuries. Full of character. We received outstanding service when we called in for lunch. Food was very good if limited in range. Always have a guest real ales on tap. Interesting COVID related decor in the fireplace...
1st time here; chose it as a lunchtime venue for our wedding anniversary. Disappointed that the full menu wasn't available, but Ben, more than made up for it with his suggestion of 'salt & pepper squid'....yummy. Will def return for their Sunday roast.
Wonderful olde world atmosphere in 10th century pub..lovely new owners, family run..very welcoming. Fresh tasty home cooked food..fabulous location to boot.
It says fine dining on the board outside. For a pub, it really is. Landlady v welcoming, goats cheese mousse, scallops and risotto all very good.
