Lovely cod & chips takeaway today. I'm very fussy about f&c, coming from up North, but these were great. A bit pricier than up North, but they did me 2 fish and plenty of chips for £11. Fish was nicely done with crispy batter, chips were done perfectly too. Very impressed, seagulls got nowt.
I'm really saddened by some of these reviews. It's like people go all out to destroy a business, without even popping in and saying 'excuse me, but I'm not happy' first.
Firstly - no - the portion sizes are not huge. Why does everybody need a kilo of chips to go with their dinners? We just returned from a week in Lyme and we had takeaway here twice in that week. The portion sizes were perfect.
The wait wasn't long and is proof that people return and are happy to eat from there.
The cod I had on both occasions was perfectly cooked, and the chips were divine.
In our eyes - best fish shop in Lyme. Thanks so much for the food and in particular to the young man on the till last week who was very efficient, as was the girl calling out the numbers and ensuring we all had the correct meals. You are both superstars.
I can't believe people are whinging about parking either. Use your legs.
Visited last night, freshly cooked cod and chips, huge portions.
We really enjoyed it.
Very friendly staff, it was raining and they offered for us and our dogs to wait in the dry.
We always come here when we come to Lyme and never had any complaints.
Good fish, good chips, fine mushy peas. Ketchup and tartar sauce packets were 60p each. Take away only.
Great fish and chips, but sadly one of the staff members was a little rude. We walked in the shop and without even looking up, she abruptly shouted “queue from the other door to order.” We very nearly walked out as we felt we didn’t want to give our money to them, but alas we stayed and ordered after being shouted back down to the original door we came in literally two seconds later! A few large signs wouldn’t go a miss so people understood where to enter and exit. Otherwise, lovely fish bar tucked away in the smaller streets.
Fantastic chippy. Had haddock and chips and was simply the most delicious haddock I've had in years. Beautifully cooked. Not really sure why people are complaining about portion sizes, I'm what one might politely term as 'sturdy' and I only just managed to finish my meal. My partner had scampi which I tried and that was also tasty (but my haddock was better!). Chips excellent too, freshly cooked and with good colour. If I'm ever in Lyme Regis again, will be visiting again.
Noticed long queues outside this fish and chippie on first day. Second day decided to grab a takeaway from there. Definitely worth the queue - absolutely delicious fish and chips. These people know how it should be done.
Strongly recommended!
They don't do sausages,,,,, couldn't believe it,so my fiance only had sweet potato fries but it was a big bowl of fries,,,,I had fish and chips. Very good. 😁👌👍🏴
We had a takeaway from Lyme’s Fish Bar when we stayed in Lyme Regis in May as it was just around the corner from our accommodation. The food was cooked to order and very nice, although the portion size was a little small for the price. We’d happily eat here again though.
Some of the best fish and chips I've had. You won't be disappointed with the portion size of fish or chips. Well cooked, not too greasy. Fish was lovely and fresh and cooked to order (I did have the extra-large cod which was cooked to order). Was remarkably busy despite being a fairly quiet day in Lyme Regis which is an indication of the reputation of this place.
COVID-19 - Customers ordered and paid inside the shop and queued outside. Very good social distancing rules adhered too. Staff all wore masks and were polite and exercised good practices.
Not that the shops/stalls on the main front are bad, just that the quality of the fish and chips form Lyme's Fish Bar happens to be the best in town. Only a couple of minutes' walk from the beach and worth the walk. You won't be disappointed.
Didn't have fish (partly due to previousreviews), had nuggets, peas, curry sauce, chips, sausage. Chips were perfect, proper chippy chips, curry sauce perfect, albeit not v hot (luke warm), chicken and sausage good too. Good service, it was around 6pm and we only had to wait 5 to 10 mins. All in all, excellent. Good portion size, but we had large not regular
Local chippy, set away from the busier beach front, serving all the usual suspects. Despite its location, it remains popular due to the quality and honesty of the food. It's a good place for a reasonably priced fry up.
Service is down to earth and very friendly - we even had a friendly chat with them afterwards as they weren't busy towards the end of the night.
I don’t think chips get any better than this. Absolutely fabulous!!! It’s a rare find. The chips are the type to stick to the paper, not because their greasy, I’m not sure why but they are just the very best I’ve had in years. Most people use the wrong potatoes, don’t know what they’re doing but these were perfect. I realise that it’s a personal preference thing but for us it does not get any better. Can’t comment on anything else as we only had chips and I’m glad we did. Best chips in the UK. I didn’t want it to end and I had to share!!!
Had the most amazing fish and chips, cooked perfectly. Great fresh fish and nice crispy batter. Chips were done lovely, not anaemic and soggy like some places. Highly recommended.
Great fish and chips, our son has a severe nut allergy and all ok for him to eat - food allergy info clearly displayed - quick, friendly service!
