Edit: this pub has changed hands since this review The unicorn maybe has the best PUB food in Ludlow. They make everything fresh to order, in reasonable time. The staff are fast, friendly and professional. I cannot stress enough just how incredible their fresh, made to order restaurant food is. 🦄

A charming, eccentric and ultimately very enjoyable place to stay. The landlord was full of bonhomie. The game on the menu was locally sourced and carefully prepared. The vegetarian options were delicious too. The bedrooms were ostentatious and the olde world charm was everywhere you looked.

A lovely meal tonight to celebrate our son's birthday. This is a beautiful 16th century public house in Ludlow, about a 10 minute meander from Ludlow Town Square. The food was excellent and the staff really attentive. The food is all locally sourced and the landlord told us where it comes from. Pretty, old china was used to serve the food on and each course was presented attractively. Will definitely return. Highly recommended

What a gem we've discovered, a little bit removed from Ludlow's busy town centre. It's a beautiful old pub, lovely decor, very cosy and with super friendly and attentive staff but the best thing is the food. Well above your usual pub food, this is superb stuff, modern British I'd say with continental influences. From the starters to the mains and desserts, everything was cooked to perfection and presented in an appealing way. The wine to go with it was also perfect. The prices are very reasonable considering the quality. We will definitely visit again.

A lovely one night stay in the Unicorn Suite which was perfect for a family of four. Quirky, friendly, welcoming and warm on an otherwise freezing day. Breakfast was plentiful and tasted great. Thank you Lee!

Absolutely outstanding! I really don’t understand how anyone can be negative about this lovely pub. We went for my birthday tonight. A warm welcome as we arrived, and honestly, I’ve never tasted a better pint of HPA. Service was very good, nothing was too much trouble. I had venison which was cooked to perfection. Sandra had cod loin which was also superb. A special experience for a special occasion. We WILL be back soon! Thank you, Unicorn!

Absolutely loved our stay. Lee and the staff really did go all out looking after the needs for the entire family. Such a friendly place. The food was incredible, the local ale delicious. The rooms were lovely. Please visit when you can and keep places like this alive during the current Covid crisis we're in. You can see the effort they put in and it really shows. Hope to see you again in the future.

Delicious food in an ancient B&W timbered building. A warm, cosy, intimate atmosphere with friendly helpful staff. Service was fast, we just had main courses. Three had the fillet steak, mouth-wateringly tender with delicious sauce- quite the best steak for many a year. Our fourth member had the chicken and gnocchi, equally delicious. Food presentation excellent, vegetables perfectly cooked, just the right amount on the plate; an absolute credit to the chef. House Malbec was excellent. Starters and desserts looked tempting for next time. Highly recommended, worth booking well ahead

Had an excellent meal here last night. Food was expertly cooked, with good portion sizes, very tasty and well priced. It was a far better meal than Mortimer’s where we ate earlier in the week and much better value for money. Really friendly and knowledgeable host and barman. Can highly recommend, and they have classy accommodation for rent as well.

We were warmly welcomed by the owner . Our room was spacious, the bed was so comfortable and bedding was high quality. The decor is interesting, a mixture of beautique/teenager style. Our evening meal in the unicorn pub was excellent, well presented, tasty and good value for the quality served. Breakfast was spot on and a. Great start to our day.

We had a large group at the Unicorn on a Friday evening. We were given a large separate room for our group. The menu was very varied and the food when it arrived was spectacular. The welcome and service from the staff and manager was excellent. Thanks to all.

We had a beautiful evening out at the Unicorn for my twin sisters-in-laws' 50th birthday. We declined the delicious sounding starters in lieu of desserts. The main meals, however, were the stars of the show. We collectively had: venison, belly pork, cod loin, lamb shank, duck, chicken and spinach ravioli - which were all absolutelty stunning. The staff couldn't do enough for us and there was a welcome to be had that was as warm as the gorgeous log fire near the bar. When you go out for a special occasion you want everything to be perfect. It was. We'll be back.

Went here for dinner while in Ludlow for the weekend celebrating my wife's birthday. We had a fantastic meal in the bar area, in front of a welcoming log fire. All the staff were friendly and service was first class. Good selection of local ales and a nice choice of reasonably priced wines. Highly recommended!

The table had been booked ahead and we were seen immediately. The waiter asked if we were happy to sit in the bar area but as it was a special occasion we requested the restaurant and we had children so there was more room as the tables were bigger. This was no problem. We ordered almost straight away and i must say didnt take long for the food to arrive. We had the 3 courses and each course was well presented, tasted beautiful and was plentiful. The children's menu was again plentiful and they could have what they wanted in a smaller portion. The waiter was polite and joined in with some of the banter whilst remaining professional. We had a lovely time, definitely going back

Great Sunday lunch cooked to perfection all fresh vegetables nothing frozen. Service can be a bit slow but only because the single waitress worked her socks off keeping everyone happy. Definitely worth a visit
