We ate here because our accommodation was close by and there was nothing else within walking distance. We were surprised by very tasty, good quality food. Plus super nice staff. Even WiFi available. We had chicken in white wine sauce and halumni in beer breading.

Enjoyed our family meal here, staff were friendly and lovely establishment. The chicken in white wine sauce was delicious! Very good fish and chips too. The children had nuggets and fish fingers (big taste buds) all went down well. Would love to visit again next time we're passing through.

Beautiful Country Pub, went on a Friday lunchtime and was able to get a table without booking ; but apparently very busy at weekends so a reservation is a good idea. Fantastic food and great service

What a lovely diversion from the main road and a great resting spot. Top breakfast, and the other offerings on the menu look tempting.

A real gem of a pub! Super delicious food with a really good vegetarian selection too, lovely staff, super clean and comfortable and dog friendly too, with a big section that dogs are allowed in. Everything was cooked perfectly, lovely specials menu, the portions were very generous and the kitchen is open throughout the day - a huge relief for us hungry travellers who missed lunch!

We decided to come here after reading the good reviews and we weren't disappointed, the food was amazing, I had the seafood paella special and it was one of the best meals I have had. The staff were so friendly and welcoming, we hadn't booked but they found us a table. Would highly recommend to anyone travelling through or staying in the area.

My family have been visiting the Old Royal Ship for over 40 years a.d have seen the changes. The one thing that is constant is the welcoming reception, the great quality and service of the food and drink. And the great atmosphere. We are not regulars as such, but two or three times a year we have a great evening there. My daughter visited for her 40th birthday and she has two daughters that required gluten free food. They asked what they would like and ensured that they made gluten free version especially for them. BRILLIANT ! !

Preface to say we dined off-peak (after 3:00 PM). The host (and our server) was delightful. Our meal was delicious and also nicely plated. Vegetable lasagna with aubergine (eggplant), mushrooms, peppers, more vegetables and lots of cheese. Excellent garlic bread. Photo is after a few forkfuls were taken. The interior of the restaurant was quite bright and cheerful, even on a rainy day. 5 / 5.

We’ve been visiting for a great night out here for many years, but this week we went for a big birthday celebration, table for 11 people including 2 coeliac, 1 of which is an autistic child. Everyone here were amazing, food choices adapted to what she would and could eat. Highly recommend, worth travelling for.

We had a lovely meal here. Very attractive restaurant and friendly staff. My husband's pint of best bitter was a reasonable £4.80, my pint of lime and soda was a frankly outrageous £5.60. As the designated driver I do feel taken advantage of. There are equally nice pubs round here where the same drink would be £3.00 or less. My advice if you are going here, you might as well get drunk.

Lovely meal to celebrate 75th birthday, last minute booking due to cancellation of another venue. Welcoming and friendly staff, and the food was good. Interior was cool on such a hot day with plenty of room for a party of 7.

A very surprising moment on my visit, I was looking to try a beer and was presented with a small glass to taste before committing what a lovely way to make sure customers make a good choice. So impressive

Good country-pub food. Sunday roast had a good portion size, and selection of veg. Reasonable prices, with cheaper prices for multiple courses. A nice improvement would be a wider selection of meats though.

We were enjoying an excellent meal with family at this pub when my wife became ill. The owners and their team were absolutely amazing, making a difficult situation as easy as they could. In these days it is good to know that there are still some really great businesses who genuinely care about their customers. Heartfelt thanks to Helen and team

Lovely atmosphere and drink selection. Service was slow when we visited and food wasn't the best quality. Very tasty and homemade feel though. Still recommend
