Ok, first the basics... Location, I enjoy walking the Thames River paths and it is not too far off the river; Rooms are extremely well appointed; On suite bathrooms modern and very nice; Restaurant menu, fabulous and more than your usual pub food! But what makes this a great place to stay or just drop in for a meal or drink is the owner and staff. Friendly, attentive without “hovering” and always helpful. Thank you Kevin, Sophie, Will and the other bartender (sorry but I didn’t catch your name, but you were a great DJ for the party and your Campari Spritz was PERFECT!!). I will be staying here on my next visit!

Had a drink in the gardens before a special celebration meal. Amazing food and such great service from the lovely staff. Couldn't fault the place and we even share the same name 😍 Top marks for The Baskerville from us! X

My husband and I have just returned from a two night stay here. The room was very clean , tidy and welcoming with a well stocked box of coffee, teas, milk, sugar etc as well as complimentary bottles of water. The breakfasts were absolutely delicious with a fabulous choice. The dinner menu was good, we both enjoyed the juicy burgers and shared the very tasty sharer pudding platter. Just divine! The staff were all friendly , courteous and polite . We hope to return again .

An excellent lunch-stop while walking the Thames Path - a friendly welcome and service; tasty, well-prepared food (can recommend the Atlantic Cod). On a slightly chilly winter's day, we appreciated the log fire. Lots of paintings, photos and other memorabilia on the walls to interest rowing and rugby fans.

Thank you so much for our wonderful stay over the weekend. The room, the food, the people...all fantastic! And the ice cold beer was perfect :). My daughter and I absolutely LOVED our time there, and can't wait to return. What a beautiful gem you have, in the staff and the location. Much love from the US, and GO ENGLAND!

Walked here from Henley on Saturday arriving early evening. We hadn't booked and they were busy but they fitted us in and we had a lovely meal in the bar with our dog which set us up for the return walk. They have some unusual but very tasty dishes which makes a change. The staff were very friendly and service was great. This was our second visit and when we visit Henley again it will be on our agenda I'm sure.

Wonderful ambience, local setting, friendly cheerful hosts and to top it off... excellent mouthwatering dishes...I had the stake and it was perfect. Succulent and just right...the peppercorn sauce was a great compliment to the dish....the staff recommended a new wine pairing. It was a great end to my Saturday walk and I loved every bit if it. An attractive, I would guess late Victorian/Edwardian building in the rather well heeled village of Shiplake, near Henley-on-Thames. The food was wonderful, a mixture of traditional and more adventurous but not faddish. And it has a large, beautiful garden. The staff were friendly and helpful. My main question to myself when visiting somewhere the first time is whether I would return. The answer in this case is definitely yes.

What an absolute gem!! We just stopped-over here on our way to France, but would want to return as a destination. The welcome is fab, the food is phenomenal and we slept like babies. Thank you to Kevin and his awesome team- every single member of staff we encountered were very pleasant and great at what they do.

Definitely my favourite pub on the Thames Path so far. Great location around 2.6 miles outside of Henley. Excellent food at sensible prices. The spicy pizza was epic. Excellent drop of Marlow Rebellion. A nice lunch time pint. Best of all the staff. Young but attentive and efficient. Worth the five stars.

Still under renovation, but temporary bar and seating is good. Goodxselection of ales and other drinks. Food is available - not tried, but the menu looks good. Grandsons have had pizzas, and they said are good.

Nice garden and decent beer selection but the food was very average. Pizza felt like it was aimed at kids rather than adults, salad came undressed. Wouldn't eat there again.

Had an enjoyable birthday dinner here. Staff were friendly, helpful and attentive, the place is nice and good range of dishes on the menu. Had the cod fritters to start and although they were tasty, couldn't taste much cod and no sign of the Anchovies. My main was the lamb, which was enjoyable but didn't taste particularly fresh, more like it had been cooked in advance and reheated. All in all a good night, but did end up feeling that the food needed just a little more effort to nudge it from good to great.

Simply brilliant. If you run a pub and want to know what excellent looks like... visit the Baskie. Friendly, warm and efficient staff combine with a great chef and now a really lovely garden. It's outstanding.

Friendly welcome and a beautifully landscaped garden. Staff were excellent and service was prompt. Not many vegetarian options, and other items that had sold out meant a slightly reduced menu. Otherwise very good.

We had an absolutely fabulous Sunday lunch here. It was the first time we had been able to see family for nearly two years and we sat in a huge Beduin tent surrounded by wonderful rugs and cushions, sofas and low tables. The atmosphere is brilliant. AND ... the best part was that I had the best roast lunch I've had for years! In fact we were all delighted with the food, the ambiance, the surroundings and the service. 5*

Delicious food and incredibly friendly service. What more could you want? The whitebait was some of the best I'd tasted - unexpected for somewhere which is about as far away from the sea as you could be! The venison burger had incredibly deep and robust flavour. Worth booking a table in advance especially if you are walking from Henley as this place is often very busy.
