Our waiter Marshall was outstanding. The restaurant had been super busy that night and so they’d sold out of a few things, however Marshall was able to recommend various dishes and also a suitable wine alternative to the one requested. We were told that there would be a bit of a wait on our food, however we were served relatively quickly. Nothing was too much trouble. It was our first night out since our 10 month old daughter was born and we were even assured that, if the babysitter rang for us to leave, our food could be boxed up quickly for us to take home. Such a lovely evening (with no phone call!). Thank you!
Had a 3 course dinner here for my birthday and it was fantastic! Delicious food, incredible staff and very tasty limoncello! We will be back soon!
Gorgeous bedroom (we stayed in one called "Dundry") with comfy bed and lots of space in it, and classy bathroom (no bath, but 2 fancy shower-heads). Very nicely-stocked mini- bar, with a complimentary drink offered, when we were shown to our room - a lovely touch!
On arrival, the barman/maîtreD/Manager checked us in - he was so friendly yet totally professional and welcoming. He was also working in the morning, serving us breakfast, and fixing our shower/hot water - it's as if nothing was too much trouble for him, and he did everything with a huge smile, to make sure we had a lovely stay....
The food - Wow!! In the evening, we had short rib of beef and duck breast - both really yummy and cooked just right, with an incredible sticky toffee pudding after (with crunchy toasted pecans on!!) For breakfast (included) the full English was perhaps the best I've ever had (all food ingredients are sourced locally from tasty producers/farms!) - even with home-made jumbo baked beans; my wife had poached eggs, avocado and smoke troat - which she also raved about. Good coffee, sourdough toast, and grapefruit juice.
We will definitely be returning, asap!!!
Highly recommended, charming place 😀
Loved my stay here! Was greeted and shown to my room and there was a personalised welcome letter on the desk and a comp mini bottle of prosecco in the fridge. It's the little details like this that make such a difference. This is a beautifully decorated place with super efficient staff and delicious food. I will definitely be recommending to clients and friends! Thank you
The Langford Inn folks pay special attention to food details which is delightful. I especially enjoyed the Cornish scallops starter (see photo) a couple of times - wonderful! The Confit leek was also great. Breakfast was awesome too with lots of choices - good job on the poached eggs! One dish that could use improvement - the Reuben sandwich contained no noticeable sauerkraut and was to my taste "unbalanced". But overall a wonderful dining experience.
The best roast we have had in a long time!
After a day out in Cheddar we had a look online and decided upon the Langford Inn for food on the way home. We have a 3 year old who opted for the roast chicken (but there was plenty that took his fancy on the menu) and he absolutely inhaled his food.
We too enjoyed our pork belly and roast beef - we've spent a fortune on roasts in the past and been really disappointed with the quality (we're a picky pair) but the Langford Inn was absolutely fantastic (tasty gravy, delicious cauliflower cheese, crispy crackling). Lovely outside space which we took advantage of in the sunshine. The food came out quickly which was fab for my son and the staff were super friendly towards him (he was delighted with the colouring in which was Bristol themed).
So pleased we found a gem and we look forward to coming back and sampling the rest of the menu!
Wonderful place to stay, we spent two nights whilst exploring Wells, Cheddar Gorge and the surrounding area. We booked the Langford Suite, the room was beautifully done and very spacious - it felt like a boutique hotel. The breakfast offered a great choice and the range of freshly made food was delicious. We had one evening meal and it was outstanding. My wife is gluten free and it was genuinely refreshing to find somewhere that catered so well for those with dietary requirements. All of the staff were well versed in what was and wasn’t gluten free, so at no point did it feel like asking was an inconvenience. All staff were friendly, professional and helpful. Thoroughly recommended.
Really lovely country pub, stumbled upon this with a friend a few weeks ago on a Sunday, hadn't booked but they had a table fortunately. The roast beef was exceptional, best I'd had for a long time, took my husband back there and he loved it too. Will definitely go again soon and sample some other dishes as they sound great too. Well worth a visit.
Loved our visit, had Sunday roast on the way to the airport. It was amazing, very quick service and staff were lovely
This is a *very* nice pub - a Butcombe pub - but fancy! The menu is consistently good with really delicious local ingredients, always excellent.
At the time of writing the burger is EXCEPTIONAL - please don't change what you're doing!
Your staff are lovely, really helpful and polite. The decor is great and I love the garden. The roast dinner is very good, especially the horseradish sauce!
I'm rating 2/5 on service purely on the basis of the consistently frustrating system there is for drinks. Every time we've been, we are always left waiting ages for drinks. There seems to be a strange system where they're put on the bar on a tray and they sit there for ages before someone brings them. This week we had finished our mains before our drinks came which we ordered before the food even arrived. They were on the bar, someone was changing a barrel I think? Better to bring the ones that are ready and explain than leave them all there for ten minutes. This has happened every time we've been, hence the feedback.
Enjoyable visit to Langford Inn for the 1st time & would return if close by. Food was very nice and service excellent. We were told about the 10% service charge before we paid the bill which not all places do, we were happy to pay as the service was excellent.
One of our favourite places to eat close to home. Staff are always friendly and welcoming, and the food is great! It has even managed to retain number one spot on my sons list of ‘The Best Burgers I’ve Ever Had’ after several visits (I promise you’d be impressed if you knew how seriously this guys takes his burgers…) 🙃😅😆
Very good experience here. Delicious food and friendly service. Well designed and spacious interior, outside looked just as decent but weather wasn’t great.
Accommodation was comfortable and carefully designed and we had everything we needed. Only comment for improvement would be that the cleaning team could do with a duster!
Warm and welcoming, gorgeous food and really cosy, I didn’t want to leave. The staff are friendly and attentive and it’s in a stunning countryside setting. The rooms have everything they need and are exceptionally comfy. My dog loved it too and they went out of their way to make sure he was happy too. I can’t thank the staff enough for making it such a pleasurable stay.
A lovely pub with a great garden and nice indoor seating areas. We went for a Sunday lunch. The food was excellent and the service started off attentively. It did slow down a little, but I think it’s because we booked just after the lunch rush. Was not a problem though.
We had an absolutely lovely stay at the Langford Inn before a flight from Bristol Airport. Despite being 10 minutes from the airport it’s in a lovely, quiet rural location. We loved the self-contained room with private entrance from the car park and the food we had for dinner was excellent - a lovely choice of beautifully prepared dishes. Breakfast was outstanding, freshly cooked and served at the table - again, a great choice of options. The staff were friendly and we would definitely stay again.
We stayed here as a couple for my birthday weekend. The restaurant and pub was lovely, with a new specials menu everyday. We particularly enjoyed the pork belly gnocchi and the sharing board. We stayed in the Langford Suite which was beautifully decorated with lots of additional touches (mini Prosecco, beer, toiletries). Perfect location to explore Somerset, we visited Cheddar and Wells. Thank you to the team and both managers who were very welcoming.
We had a lovely lunch and both chose the small fish and chips, which was plenty for lunch unless you have a huge appetite.
For dessert, I had the Swiss roll & my friend had rhubarb & custard. We also had drinks and coffee.
The Inn was busy for a week day which speaks to the quality of the food. We weren’t rushed which was great, so we had a lovely time catching up.
