Great selections for Sunday lunch (the trout with potatoes for me; butterfly prawns for wife; and lamb/beef roasts for our sons). We booked ahead and even so were informed it would be a little while for food to come out - very good to be let known so we didn't rush our incredible, "grandmother's secret recipe" Hatchet ale (highly recommended). The pub atmosphere was superb - warming wood fire, historic paraphernalia decorations, a funky 2-in-1 picture, ... There is a spacious area outside with pic-nik tables for warmer/dryer days. The very busy staff were forever friendly and welcoming even with the full house. Recommended.

We met friends half way to celebrate our wedding anniversaries. We have visited before. It is a pretty pub in a lovely location. I was so pleased to see trout on the menu - having not seen it anywhere for years. My friend and I enjoyed it and the men loved their pies. The staff are friendly. Good menu.

A very traditional and historic pub. A lovely thatched roof, original beams inside and very beautiful to look at from outside and sit in and enjoy the pub. The drinks are great, a wide selection with good food choices, fast service and lovely staff. Had dinner and breakfast. Portion sizes are very big! Amazing value for money! The room is a double bed size, smart TV, towels and shower gel included Etc.. en-suite bathroom (shower and toilet). It’s unloved from a paint job and it was very dusty and full of cobwebs behind my bed head and the carpets are outdated. - if a deep clean and lick of paint with a carpet change.. This would be 5 out of 5.

Fabulous thatched inn in the middle of glorious countryside. Wonderful menu and variety ales, Thatchet Ale is among best I have tasted. Friendly service. English breakfast is very tasty. Rooms are spacious, clean with sizeable en-suite - powerful hot shower.

We come over to England about once or twice a year, and every trip we make sure to stay here for at least a couple of nights. The atmosphere is lovely, the rooms are always cozy and clean, the food and bar menu are fantastic, and the best part is how great the staff is, always really friendly and accommodating. We can't recommend The Hatchet enough!

Atmospheric olde world pub. Busy on a Sunday so best to book. Plenty of space inside & out. We'll behaved dogs on leads welcomed. Beautiful setting, tucked away in Chute, near Andover. Thoroughly recommend. Childrens' menu good, adults menu varied great for fish & meat eaters. Some veggie choices. The Cauliflower curry was perfect.... Not too spicy but flavoursome. Loved the poppadoms & mango chutney accompaniments. Staff helpful but not intrusive. Perfect Sunday lunch-& any other day choice!

Excellent pub/hotel. Nice location and attractive thatched building. Staff are very friendly and helpful. This is a proper country pub, serving good food with a nice variety. Selection of local real ales, guest beers and a wide variety of drinks. The rooms are well maintained in annexes from the main pub. Nice atmosphere in the pub and friendly locals. If you crave a proper old school pub then this is the one for you.

This is a beautiful pub, with rooms that are hotel standard, and the bed we slept in was enormous, and very very comfortable. Rates for B&B are excellent.

The location is beautiful, the staff were friendly and helpful , we stayed 2 nights , the breakfast was very good and plenty of choice , our lunch and evening meals also extremely good and again plenty of choice , the only thing that spoilt our stay was , the cleanliness of our room , at least the bedding was clean , the room itself was very dusty , the windows needed a good clean , inside and out , mould round the shower , the glass top table/desk was dirty and dusty , all the paintwork needed a good clean ,the mirror and tap into shower room also in need of some attention , it also smelt a little musty ,

Outside of the pub is delightful and very well kept. Food is first class and definitely not yo be missed. We sat on a table in the shade as it was a particularly hot day. However will rethink seating area next time as halfway through our meal a family arrived and they spent some considerable time asking their grandchildren if they needed a wee!! And they weren't quiet either! Not the thing to hear when you're eating. Nevertheless we will definitely be back there again. I would suggest that this pub is one not to miss out. The staff are very friendly and helpful.
