I was a regular visitor to the dickin prior to the refurb whenever i was on town. I have to admit what the new owners jay and Nick have done to the place is superb. The place is much lighter and airy with the light oak interior. The massive log burner is a focal point and together with the soft furnishings makes it warm and inviting. The locals are characters but are always friendly and chatty. it's always great to have a gin and tonic (from the vast selection) and a catch up with them. I have eaten there a couple times and the food has been fantastic. You leave feeling full and satisfied, and the cost is very reasonable. All in all the new hosts and staff have made this a must visit when I'm on town. Great job guys.
Jay and the team have totally transformed the Dickin. Food is the best, great menu, incredibly cooked to perfection. The best food in a pub, I have ever had. Lovely atmosphere, great service, reasonably priced. Hadn't been here for years, am now a regular, well worth the 16 mile round trip. Well done everyone at The Dickin Arms, you should be very proud of what you have created. My husband is in a wheelchair, despite no disabled toilet, it's perfectly manageable, so don't be put off
A truly lovely country pub. Beautiful interior, superb food, great owners and staff, they even do yummy cocktails!!! Highly recommend a visit.
Had a lovely gluten free meal especially gluten free cheese cake service was brilliant would recommend a visit
We were a group of 12, good service, fantastic food , defiantly recommend the sharing starters we tried all 13 !! :-)) can't wait to go again . And love the new look of the pub . Well done :-))
Having done 18 miles on our cycle, we needed a pit stop.
We were pretty late in terms of lunch about 13:45. That was no problem. Had a spot by the log burner which was just lovely on this cool January day.
Had pie of the day which was chicken and ham in a white wine sauce, with some fries.
Was the sustenance we needed.
We had a fantastic Mother’s Day meal today! Beautiful food, excellent staff! Will definitely be going back soon
Fabulous meal and such lovely hospitality highly recommend!! Well done guys!!
OMG, the king prawn, chorizo and garlic tapas dish was heaven! And the calamari - wish there was a main-course portion We'll definitely be back for more...
A beautiful country pub, Great food, wide range of drinks, friendly staff, and happy atmosphere.
Superb food with a friendly atmosphere. Highly recommend a visit.
Good food great service fantastic place - my third visit and it just gets better
Extremely welcoming with fabulous food. Highly recommend anyone to visit.
Seriously a great place. I'd say that they've got everything right. Excellent food, well served, generous portions, lovely crispy potatoes, very reasonable gravy. Hospitable atmosphere and an engaging interior with beams and brick chimneys. Personable staff. Recommended.
Lovely looking pub and good atmosphere. Generally very friendly and attentive staff. Food was OK . Mushroom Wellington £16 (looked like a pasty) was OK but chips were extra making it the most expensive pasty and chips I've ever eaten. Vegetarian food is unimaginative, but partner said his steak and chips were amazing. Desserts were great.
Had a delightful meal here on a Wednesday evening. Wine was lovely as was the food. Service was also excellent. We ate in a small room off the main dining room. The main area of the pub is lovely. Excellent evening.
Great tasting food, friendly and welcoming staff. Would definitely recommend and return to sample more dishes. Frickles and fried squid were super tasty starters, game pie full of amazing flavours.
A beautiful pub In an idyllic setting.
Firstly the pub itself if a gorgeous conversion that has a true homely feel that instantly makes you feel comfortable.
Secondly, the staff and service is a very high standard, they make you feel welcome and ensure your needs are met as well as actually engage in conversation with you unlike many places I have visited.
Thirdly, the food is incredible. Tye kitchen staff creat pure magic, flavours of every kind that will have you salivating with anticipation of the next bite.
The dickin arms is a rare gem of a place that has a modern yet classical English pub in the country feel.
If you are looking for a recommendation on the food, you might wish to try the maple sticky pork bites on the starter menu, you will not disappointed!
14 of us went for Sunday Lunch.
Didn't need to pre-order which is a blessing in itself. Plenty of options for the vegetarian and gluten free diners in the group when we sat down with the menus.
The staff were very polite and knowledgeable with any questions, we were upstairs with plenty of space and seemed to have our own waiter for the majority of the meal.
The building was well kept and clean, food was wonderful and enjoyed by all, would recommend to all.
Lovely place to eat. Fantastic, imaginative menu, lots of options for a wide range of dietary requirements. Cheerful, efficient staff and great value for money.
Lovely little village with a wonderful pub. Excellent menu, happy, polite and friendly service and a decent price.
Pub itself manages to combine modern and traditional decor, decent car park and an outdoor area. Oh, and the last remaining bull baiting ring in Shropshire.
My first experience brought me back for my second and didn't disappoint.
We had an excellent lunch. The food was delicious with generous portions. The seafood starter was very good and more than enough for 3. The prawns were particularly tasty. There were a good variety of dishes on the menu (old favourites and interesting new ones) to please everyone. Our waiter was lovely. Attentive but not intrusive which is perfect. We will definitely be back!
We visited the Dickin Arms on Saturday 24th April. It was our first meal out since December 2020, visiting family for the 1st time since October 2020.
Food was amazing, as were the staff.. friendly helpful and following all the guidelines.
The marquis they have erected is amazing, decorated beautifully.. lots of comfy sofas to relax on, deck chairs next to the fire pit, heaters inside the marquis and lots and lots of outside seating in the sunshine.
Highly recommended.
