The steak was amazing! All the food is delicious and homemade with mouthwatering deserts too. Staff were welcoming and the service was quick, there is a cask ales too whilst all being served in a wonderful setting.

Had the most delicious late lunch here. Building is beautiful and cleverly decorated to make it warm and modern without loosing its traditional style. The food was delicious - the best meal out since I can’t remember. We ordered the crispy chicken risotto and the peppercorn burger. Host was lovely, friendly and inviting.

What a nice place! Slightly unexpected in a tiny village. Good food, a few different little things, too. Good beers and cocktails too. We visited a couple of times to eat and once for a drink. We were not disappointed at any time. Staff were great too!

Amazing Sunday lunch. Called in here on Saturday for a drink and liked the place and staff so much went back for lunch on Sunday. Sean and Jason made us feel very welcome. A party of 4 we all had a different Sunday lunches and all were perfect. Cannot recommend this place highly enough.

Had a truly scrumptious lunch there today, their home made pie - Chicken and mushroom today, gosh it was enormous. With a load of chunky hand cut chips and veg it was WAY too much but I managed to demolish the pie and my partner helped me with the chips. The cakes & cream scones looked heavenly but I just couldn't squeeze anything else in. Perfect end to a long walk. Lovely (-:

Our first visit to this lovely restaurant. We didn't have Sunday lunch but I had a very nice summer fruits cheese cake which was delicious. Hubby and I aim to visit again to sample the light bites. Lovely staff serving us. We will be back.

I ate at the Merchand House last night with my family and was very impressed. As a vegetarian, I was initially disappointed to find out that one of the two veggy options was not on offer. However, I shouldn't have been concerned. The chef offered to make a special dish for us but we went for the risotto from the menu. It was the best risotto I had ever eaten- including ones I'd had in Italy. In addition, the chef comped an extra dish as a gesture of good will. The service was excellent from start to finish and we felt so welcome throughout. The ambiance was great. Only word of warning, the portions were massive; we ate three courses and left full to bust. Definitely would recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Great staff who quickly made us feel welcome. Great food came in good time and was well presented. Whitebait was lovely. We sat on the mezzanine and enjoyed the views onto the cobbles and across the valley. Top marks to Toby and the lady who's name we don't know but do know that she enjoys the evening sunshine!

We had Sunday lunch yesterday to celebrate a family birthday. There were 12 of us so we preordered our food and it all turned up at the same time. I had roast beef and the food was exceptional. So full of flavours. Shaun and the young lady serving us were lovely and Shaun even offered to sort the birthday cake as I hadn't even thought about it! It was lovely that our well behaved little dog could come too. He sat under the table so was part of our day. I really want to go for Sunday lunch again soon. Thank you everyone at the merchants. Highly recommended.
