Stumbled on this lovely friendly pub, when using another local business. Decided to try south African dishes from the menu.... So glad we did. Food was superb, fresh and well presented... very reasonable prices too. Would HIGHLY recommend.... Staff were very friendly, telling us about his travel to
Had a large family gathering here and everything was exceptional. The staff were wonderful, food was incredible and the atmosphere was great too. Loved the mix of traditional pub and South African cuisine. Certainly unique and could most definitely be described as a hidden gem. Would return again my
Lovely pub, perfect for Sunday dinner which was beautifully cooked, in a hearty portion size, and served by friendly landlords. Loved the South African desert option too, like an even better sticky toffee pudding. The pub is cosy with a log fire burning too. Will be back!
Love the food and vibe this slightly trendy country pub has to offer. And the service was brilliant. So glad we came across it and would go back in a heartbeat if I was in the area. Great country pub, great dinner. Thanks to the team and chef for making it such a fun and delicious!
We recently moved to Long ashton and wanted to try something local to us, we walked in in the bird in Hand and were acknowledged and welcomed straight away. Service was friendly and professional. My partner had the chicken burger which was really tasty! I was really pleased as they had my favorite g
Serves Guinness again. Small but good selection of craft beers and lager. Food is not your standard pub grub, good quality, but always check the monthly menu to see if their is something you like. Great scoth eggs
Great pub with classic grub and some delicious South African dishes. The Bobotie croquettes were cracking and the Lamb Bunny Chow curry was delicious. We had fun playing eye-spy with all the South African decor. Very warm and friendly service too.
Lovely pub serving a variety of high quality food. Selection of beers and wines are excellent. Cosy atmosphere. Highly recommend the chicken burger. Thanks!
Visiting from Australia and popped in last night. Very friendly atmosphere and great staff. Will definitely return during our stay and try the food. Real ale selection was top notch!
Nice village pub with unexpected South African connection. Tried the Durban chicken 'bunny chow' curry - really lovely and different to usual pub food. Though burgers looked lovely as well! A few good ales as well. Staff very friendly. Recommended.
Incredible food, some of the best squid I've had in this country. Owner / chef was super nice. Only knocking one point off as the parking was a nightmare, especially in the horrific rain!
Really enjoyed the food and atmosphere sat outside in the beer garden. The staff were friendly, attentive (but not too attentive) and the menu was varied and interesting - with the added South African twist. I had the tier burger and it was well worth the price.
Delicious food and service. All 4 enjoyed a tasty meal. Would recommend.
Great Sunday dinner - well cooked and loads of it. Landlord an dlandlady very welcoming
Wonderful. Such a kind manager who donated a fab prize to our charity. The food here is also five star. 😋
Friendly welcome and amazing food. We all really enjoyed our food and the staff were very helpful. Best falafel burger I’ve ever had too!
Another meal at this South African-themed pub and a fantastic experience. The Bobotie Croquettes starter were delicious, and the bunny chow main course was bursting with flavor. The tender meat and aromatic spices in the bunny chow were perfectly balanced, and the bread bowl was soft and fluffy. The
I passed through Long Ashton on a walk and stopped here for some lunch. Cheese ploughman's, at £9, was on the expensive side. Nice bread and cheese, but maybe a bit stingy in quantity. Pint of Butcombe Original, at £4.05, also rather expensive. Quite pleasant sitting outside.
