Incredible dining experience. Was a solo diner seated at the bar. I’ve dined at plenty of fine Japanese restaurants in NYC and Singapore, would put this right up there with some of the best.
Food-wise, one thing I think sets Evernight apart is the strength of the flavors. Personally I enjoy strong, big flavors so this was perfect for me.
Service was great. If you are seated at the bar, you will get to enjoy seeing the chef at work and perhaps engage in light conversation with him.
My boyfriend brought me here for my birthday dinner and we had most perfect evening. The staff were super friendly and insightful. All the food we tried was so delicious (special shoutout to the grilled Mochi), and the cocktails were incredible too. Would definitely recommend! If you can, try get a counter seat so you can watch and chat to the chefs.
This was one of the best eating experiences I've ever had. The food is so good and has great thought put into it. There are so many great dishes. We nearly had them all.
The staff were incredible special mention for Reece and Miles. A wonderful way to celebrate our 20th Anniversary. Thank you to everyone at Evernight. 6 stars
A fairly new izakaya restaurant in the newly developed area. While I understand that it can be difficult to replicate Japanese cuisine perfectly due to ingredient availability and localization, I thought that the taste was good overall.
I appreciated that they adapted their dishes for an international palate while still maintaining a good balance of flavors. The prices were a little high, but in my opinion, it was worth it for the quality of the food and the atmosphere of the restaurant.
They do a great job of creating tasty dishes that still maintain the essence of Japanese cuisine.
Good food, extremely good service and the prices arnt too expensive. Do note that the food menu changes so the food may differ haha, but it was honestly a surprise as we purely visited it as it was below our apartment, but the food and service was beyond expectations. The grilled mochi was fantastic, and the sashimi is definitely worth trying, tho its q different from normal sashimis in other restaurants.
Absolutely knockout restaurant. One of the best new places I’ve tried in years. As a Japanese food fan, this is really top notch cooking. We sat at the counter and the chefs were super friendly and chatty and service was good all round. Every single dish was a hit, so much that we had to order a second round of karaage and tskune. Otoro platter also a must and the lobster and shellfish rice was delicious (though on the pricier end). Even the deserts were super tasty - especially the take on a strawberry trifle. Dishes apparently change quite frequently (as opposed to complete menu overhauls), so definitely coming back soon. If you like Japanese food, it’s an absolute must. 18/20
Great Japanese Izakaya style restaurant. Delicious food & drinks and pretty fast service. Stunning bite sized food , we selected around 7 items from the menu and each one of them were memorable and absolutely delicious. Everything was perfect but the menu needs some work , it should explain in few words what the food is as the titles are in Japanese, love they kept that authenticity but it's a struggle to order. Some staff are very knowledgeable but some are not able to explain the items in detail.
The staff are very kind and friendly. Overall I really enjoyed dining here.
I have visited Overnight a couple of times and it’s soon becoming my favourite spot!
The chicken kaarage and the pork & shrimp gyoza are an absolute must have to start the dinner; the agepan is the fluffiest warm bread roll that accompanies perfectly the smooth liver parfait, had to ask for seconds!
We followed with Chawanmushi with a perfectly cooked smoked Eel, miso and pumpkin it had such great balance of texture and flavours.
Ended up ordering all skewers on the menu and by my surprise (as someone who never liked chicken hearts) I absolutely loved the chicken heart and shiso one and I can proudly say I’m now addicted.
For main the lobster and crab donabe was such a treat and left us feeling super satisfied; we still had space for dessert and we recommend trying the black sesame ice cream with pear, tonka and barley. IT was fresh with perfect level of sweetness and such clever combination of textures again.
The wine and sake list is also very good and will definitely try some more next time.
Just delicious; will certainly be back soon!
Great food but I need some hot yin yoga to calm me down
All dishes were interesting and super tasty - food-wise there was absolutely nothing we could fault.
Honestly, the food was exquisite. Silky chicken liver parfait with kumquat, sweetbread katsu curry bun, chicken karaage with pickles - all delicious!
Custard with smoked eel, chicken meatball with yolk and chicken hearts were the winners.
Try desserts as well - the sesame ice cream was out of this world.
But… the atmosphere and service could definitely be improved.
Firstly, I requested a table and I was blankly emailed that it is not possible because it does not work for them (they had a big group coming in) - no suggestion of what other table could be offered instead or even a generic “we will do our best to accommodate.”
When we we arrived we were sat in front of the kitchen sink with a big bottle of Carex - no thank you.
The music was blaring, the staff was sprinting around and the lights were very bright - it was all a bit hectic for a date night but maybe that’s just a personal preference.
Will we go back? Not necessarily but if ever in the area and hungry we will try to pop in.
Amazing food in a great location, such amazing quality seafood, oysters and scallop were a highlight. The skewers were also great, we ordered chicken heart and pork cheek - incredible. Got a complimentary fried lotus snack! We ordered most of the menu and it was all super well priced! Great service and ambience. Would strongly recommend.
Highlight for me was the mushroom hosomaki, oyster, and chawanmashu. I could eat those everyday!
Good ambience, good service, good selection of sake. Would definitely go back to try the omakase!
The restaurant has a very modern deco made of wood and a super beautiful environment. The staff is very friendly and helpful. They also recommend the best dishes. Staff are super confident that the dishes will be very taste and it's for sure. A nice place to eat Japanese food.
Had an excellent Omakase dinner at Evernight to celebrate my husband's birthday. All courses were delicious with some of the dishes truly exceptional. Excellent value for money given the quality of ingredients and the skills involved in preparing the dishes. The chef (Shaulan Steenson) was very friendly and clearly passionate about what he does. Excellent sake pairing too - best sake I've had. We'll be back!
Probably the best Japanese Dining experience I've had in london.
Really really incredibly kind and knowledgeable staff both FOH and BOH. A wicked negroni with a sakura twist. Lots of options on the food menu to meet any budget and taste. Beautiful space that smells like food (in the best possible way). I loved the all the food. The beef and chicken heart skewers were awesome as well as the Unagi bundles.
Wine list needs some work - a bit overpriced IMHO, but the cocktails made up for it.
Highly recommend!
Fantastic food, very high level of care and attention on all dishes. The staff were 10/10 - could not have been more helpful (whilst also not being intrusive). Would 100% recommend. Bill was 50% cheaper than I was expecting given the quality!
We went here last night to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary and the experience did not disappoint from the minute we entered to the time we left. Definitely try and bag a seat at the counter as you can see firsthand how the chefs, Reece and Miles, prepare some of the dishes and you get to hear a walkthrough of each dish that is helpful, timely and demonstrate the knowledge (and passion) they have for the food that they serve. The servers and front of house are attentive and go out of their way to ensure that your time with them is the best it can be.
Now to the food...we pretty much devoured the entire menu - each dish was sublime - lots of plates that we would not necessarily have chosen but once explained and recommended, they were great picks. I would go back in a jiffy and have already recommended this place to so many - it's fine dining but with flavours and textures that stay with you and are not easily forgotten. If I lived in Embassy Gardens, I'd sit at the counter on a weekly basis just to get a food fix from there! Bravo to the entire team.
We have been to this restaurant twice now. Once in October and once in February.
In both our visits, the staff was lovely! the manager was extremely kind both times, and explained the whole menu and joked with us.
Especially in our first visit, we were sat on the counter, and they offered us a dish that we had been told that was sold out initially for free, as they managed to get one more. One of the chefs was talking to us through the process and was very friendly.
Taste-wise, the first time was absolutely amazing. The red mullet dish and the oysters as well as their signature dish were out of this world. Unfortunately, the second time, we felt that the quality of the food had decreased, especially for the price you are paying.
I do hope there was a one-time thing.
Solid, thoughtful and comforting food, with amazing hospitality and beautiful interiors. We were left dreaming of the chawanmushi and are excited to go back to try their future menus!
