authentic kbbq restaurant in islington! hidden away in an alley so easy to miss, genuinely a hidden gem. food was presented so nicely and the quality of the ingredients is really prominent. not your usual korean restaurant in london!! so good. the manager and service was very attentive and recommended us dishes off the menu based on our preferences and dietary requirements. thank you so much for the lunch, will be back soon!!
Fantastic! Staff were friendly and very welcoming, we booked a reservation for 5pm but had to arrive a bit later, a call later and staff were more than happy to accomodate.
The restaurant itself is located off the main road however still very accessible.
We had the Korean fried chicken which was great, crunchy and not oily. Seafood Pancake was very tasty. The cold buckwheat noodles were good, noodles had a nice texture to them. The beef bulgogi Bibimbab was seasoned nicely and went well with the other dishes. Food was fantastic, spicy but not overly hot.
Very authentic food and decor is very nice. Price is very reasonable for portions and quality.
Will be going there again to try the BBQ food items.
Delicious Korean barbecue. We went for a mix of beef, lamb, chicken and pork VIP barbecue. Added some squids and then two bibimbaps, one with chicken and one with beef. The fried chicken was delicious too! Prior to the food they brought us a non alcoholic drink. Quick and professional service.
It’s a small place so booking is highly advisable.
Beef tartare is a perfect appetisers to surprise me, I’ll definitely come back for it again. BBQ beef platters is another good alternative too.
The service is amazing here, waitress will grill everything for you carefully, wonderful staff:)
As a Korean who's frequented many KBBQ places in UK, I can confidently say that this was one of my favourite Korean restaurant experience so far in London. The quality of the food was top-notch, and the side portions were generous compared to other establishments. But what made our experience memorable was the warm and friendly service from the staff. Even with our large group, they cooked our meat to our preferences and engaged us in fun conversations. They were truly a delight and it was such a lovely experience overall. If you're seeking for a good KBBQ time, I highly recommend Hanwoo Village!
Personally the raw BBQ food is better than those cooked dishes. Those cooked dishes I had are not the authentic Korean dishes I know. The beef stew was very salty.
The raw meats are good quality and tasted good.
The service staff were excellent with a friend at the dinner who accidentally dropped the complementary free drink and broke the glass. The staff moved quickly to clear the broken glass fragments.
Questions I asked for the menu were explained to me patiently.
Prices for each dish are reasonable, especially for the raw BBQ meat dishes.
The ordering process is supposed to be self made with a QR code on the table, but for some unknown reason, 2 different brand phones would not read the QR code. Also the exhaust extraction fan above the table was malfunctioning. I think improvement on these hardware is needed to match the excellent services by the staff.
Overall, a nice place for a Korean BBQ with good quality meat at a reasonable price.
Amazing Korean bbq - food was great and was such a fun experience seeing the food being cooked in front of you. Drinks were lovely too. Service was a little bit slow but it was very busy when we visited.
Very welcoming members of staff and provided lovely service. Welcome drinks upon arrival. The Korean bbq was the highlight, they cook it to perfection and to your liking. The beef bulgogi was absolutely divine as well as the LA galbi. Came back the next day for round 2!
Went in for the lunch menu, which had a solid variety and price.
Food was good, but nothing that would stand out. Service though was amazing though, even for other tables who were having bbq.
Would definitely give the Korean bbq option a try in the future ! 👍
As Korean living in the states now on a work trip in London, I gave this place a go today after a 10hr marathon of meetings and it did not disappoint. The bossam and beef dish were both flavorful and rich in texture, not to mention the beautiful presentation that pleases the eyes. Not “authentic” Korean if you must argue, but the dishes did what I think could sometimes be more difficult to achieve, which is obtaining a delicate balance of the Korean taste we as Koreans know and a fun twist to appeal to those that may not be familiar with korean food, all to create a pretty wholesome korean fusion culinary experience.
While I’m in London and the next time I visit, I am quite certain I’ll be going back.
This was the most friendly, most considerate staff I've ever encountered. The service was blissful: they started us off with complimentary drinks and then as per my reservation, the manager went through the menu and indicated which dishes to avoid due to my allergies. They were flexible with some of the items and removed them as requested. The items we ordered were:
Topokki - chewy, cheesy, spicy goodness - 10/10
Bulgogi Jeongol (Hot Pot) - the broth was on the sweeter side but the beef bulgogi was pretty good - 8/10
Beef Rib Eye, King Prawns & Beef Short ribs - perfectly cooked, the marinated beef was incredible - 9/10
Matcha Roll Cake & Ice Cream - I feel like a lot of people would like it but I personally would just have it as a one-off - 7/10
Note: when we ordered drinks, the manager was nice enough to let us taste the Milkis which was surprisingly good.
I also ordered their KFC and Kimche Jeon to take away which they kindly sorted out before I left.
Overall, I loved the experience, the food was amazing and I'd happily go back again soon. A special thank you to the Manager, Joy and Lee for looking after us - you guys were amazing! :)
Eat excellent bibimbap here! The lunch menu was delicious and we got a complimentary raspberry drink that was great. The taste and authenticity was good too!
Fantastic Korean barbecue experience, probably one of the best I’ve had in London. The staff are incredibly friendly and attentive throughout our dinner, cooking the meat to perfection! We ordered the Beef BBQ platter and the tofu and seafood stew and both had incredibly deep flavours! Will definitely have to come back some time soon!
korean bbq in Angel! This place is a hidden gem! The service is also really great. Food is so good. I recommend the gyozas, the fried chicken and the bbq platters! A bit pricey but worth it for a nice lunch/dinner!
Our experience with Hanwoo is generally positive, we ordered the VIP BBQ set which was good, all meats were tender and tasted good. The dishes such as Korean fried chicken and dumplings were also very nice, excerpt 1 dish which was the Tteokbokki, portion size was so small I believe had having 1 each the dish was done and it was under cooked and just very meh.I also enjoyed my dessert which was the match crepe cake (although the menu said roll cake which was confusing) but the Korean pancake had such a chewy texture it was unpleasant to eat.
Overall the experience was nice but it is slightly overpriced in my eyes (4 people for £200+)
Best Korean BBQ in London! Devils are in the details: the thyme, lamb neck, fish roes in beef tartare… location is quite hidden but certainly a gem!
It was the best Korean food in London. The quality of food was so amazing and fresh ingredient. Every dish was perfect! My favourite was Yukhae (raw beef like beef tartar) and Galbijjim (the meat just melted in my mouth). The staffs were very helpful and kind and I like the interior too!
Delicious Korean BBQ with good quality meat, very friendly and efficient service and nice atmosphere. Would definitely visit again!
