🚇Farringdon
🍺 £6.80 Mahou
❤️ A simple but stunning traditional boozer.
.
The White Bear is located close to Smithfield Market on the border between Farringdon and Clerkenwell. The nearest Tube is Farringdon which is just a five minute walk away.
.
There has been a pub on the site for centuries, the current property was rebuilt in 1899 by the City of London Brewery Co. and suffered bomb damage in the second world war.
.
This is a one bar boozer which is traditionally decorated with some stunning features. The servery is on the left hand-side and has some intricately carved woodwork on the backbar. The centrepiece here is the beautiful Victorian fireplace which is surrounded by fabulous glazed tiles. The walls are a mix of wood panels, glossy embossed wallpaper and tiled also. The seating is a mix of wood benches around Britannia tables, stools around poser tables plus traditional tables and chairs.
.
The beer line up was all keg and had a mix of mainstream and craft options. I opted for a pint of Mahou, my pint was superb and price point was above average. The Food menu is all about Pizza, Charcuterie and Cheese plates. A 12” pizza costs around £12, there are lunchtime pizza deals for £4, if you fancy sharing a Charcuterie Board, it’s £25.
.
I visited mid-afternoon on a Friday and the pub was quiet. There were a few punters sat outside enjoying the summer sun plus a regular sat at the bar offloading his day to one of the staff behind the ramp. The soundtrack was an eclectic mix of rock and hip hop which wasn’t too loud and set a pleasant backdrop. The service was great, the two staff on duty were very welcoming and courteous.
.
The @whitebear.farringdon has had a rough ride in recent years and remained closed for some time, It was great to see this boozer back open and trading again. I thoroughly enjoyed my visit here, the beer was on point, the decor is fantastic and you’ll be well looked after. Get this one on your list.

Great little pub near Farringdon Station with surprisingly great pizza. We were looking for a nice pizza and were shocked to find what may be our favorite pizza in London at this little pub. Yes, maybe our favorite in all of London. I almost asked to forgo the spicy honey on top, but it was fantastic and made the taste wonderful.
The bartender was very nice and we were even able to sit outside and enjoy the nice weather. It is only about 3 minutes from the train station, so it a very easy place to stop in.
We will be back and may even make a special stop just for a bite on a nice day. This place was an excellent surprise.
The best pub I’ve ever been to in my life!! The beer called white beer is excellent and the staff are amazing. I go to this pub with my work friends regularly and we all love it here.
(Best pepperoni pizza)
The staff are brilliant here! Very friendly and accommodating 😀 This place also does a happy hour on cocktails most days, which makes it a nice option for drinks in the area
Busy sunny Thursday night but service was swift. Didn't eat but pizzas looked good. First time here and would definitely come back again if I was in the area.
brilliant pub - the pizza is great, and they've got some really good deals available on both food and drinks.
give this a try if you're in the area!
Great pub. Lovely atmosphere and lovely staff.
Traditional pub. Good range of drinks and snacks. Impeccably clean.
We didn't try the food
A pub your mum would run! Everybody welcome and you just muck in. A cat appears to rule the roost with a dog as an assistant. A delightful place not to be missed.
Nice pub, cheap for London. Staff were lovely and friendly
