I recently dined at this Malaysian restaurant for the first time on a weekday at 8 pm. The place was bustling, with only a couple of tables unoccupied. We tried the laksa noodle, oyster egg pancake, and seafood fried flat noodle, and I must say, it's among the finest Southeast Asian cuisine we've experienced in London. The portions were generous, loaded with oysters and seafood, resulting in a truly delightful flavor. For dessert, we opted for the shaved ice, which pleasantly surprised us with its balanced sweetness. Despite feeling quite full, it was just the right touch to end the meal. Our overall dining experience was exceptional, and we're already looking forward to our next visit. This restaurant is definitely a gem!

Yesterday was my second visit to this Malaysian restaurant, I found myself thoroughly enjoying the experience once again. This time, I brought along a few friends who had never been here before, and we were all impressed by the delightful food and exceptional service. While there are numerous Malaysian restaurants in London, this one holds a special place in my heart as a Malaysian. Not only does the restaurant's decor exude a nostalgic, old-school charm that brings back childhood memories, but the staff, including the friendly owners (shout out to Mr. Koi Lee) added a warm and welcoming touch to our visit. We couldn't resist striking up conversations with them throughout our meal. On my previous visit, I tried the rojak, an unique dish that combines a mix of vegetables and fruits with a spicy palm sugar dressing. It's a must-try for anyone looking to venture beyond the usual Malaysian dishes. This time, I opted for the "Wat Tan Hor," a dish that consists of flat rice noodles in egg gravy. The taste was remarkably reminiscent of what you'd find in Malaysia, and it was absolutely delicious. What sets this restaurant apart is its ability to serve dishes that are not typically found in other Malaysian eateries in London, and they execute it flawlessly. Even the texture and crunch of the vegetables were spot on. For dessert, I highly recommend the ais kacang, which translates to "bean ice." This shaved ice dessert features ingredients like red beans and palm sugar, offering a delightful and unique treat that you don't come across often. The gracious lady owner, Sherry even treated us to a new dessert after I shared my passion for Malaysian desserts. It was a gelatinous creation with pandan and gula melaka (palm sugar), along with a surprising touch of kerisik (toasted grated coconut). This dessert managed to strike the perfect balance between warm and cold, giving us the best of both worlds. As a discerning food enthusiast, I can be quite particular about my culinary preferences, and it's often a challenge to find truly authentic Malaysian cuisine in the UK. This restaurant provides not only outstanding food but also an authentic and wholesome dining experience. I wholeheartedly recommend it, especially to those from the Western world looking to explore something unique and genuinely Malaysian. It's heartening to see a restaurant that can effectively share our culture across to globe.

I can say that this is truly the best Malaysian restaurant I’ve ever tried in the UK….!! Everything was tasty and amazing. I can taste all the spices, very very delicious. Portion-wise also fulfilling!! Not from London but I’ll definitely will come again when I visit London. Staffs are nice and quick too! Keep up the good work.

Tasty, authentic Malaysian food. Good to see a good selection of vegan options. Our drinks were way too sweet, I was not expecting it to be American level sweetness. Would be good if they gave an option of how sweet my soy milk. Will be back to try more dishes. Very well priced and quick.

Located just off Bayswater tube stop. Currently Scaffolding outside. Cosy interior with an area partitioned off in enclave. Beautifully presented hainanese chicken rice was good. The rice was slightly different to what you get in Malaysia. Cucumber was the only veg with the dish. The chicken piece had a bone in it which made it slightly more difficult to eat around. Meat is good. Three accompanied sauces, ginger, soy sauce and chilli. Soup was blend. Ambience was nice. Tea tarik was ok. Service was good.

Seen nice photos at this place from my friend and decided to take a small detour here. The food is tasty, but there’s room for improvement in other aspects. Love the Char Hor Mee. Loaded with flavors and goodies such as oysters and shrimps. My respect to whoever decided to put flat rice noodles in the same pan with round wheat noodles. Hope there were more veggie/salad side dishes. I definitely want protein as my main but I can’t have another veggie rice/noodle… So I Rojak fruit salad instead. The sauce tasted like the sweet-savory one for Peking roast duck with a hint of shrimp paste :3 The sauce is a little too sweet for me, but I was happy trying it— somehow I haven’t had that when I was in Malaysia, Singapore or Indonesia. Enjoyed the crispy tofu and peanuts. Service was a little rushed, but the fried noodle took a while. No one refilled my water though… Price is a little high (about one-third more if not double) for the dishes and service, but it seems to be an establishment frequented by diplomats. Hope the ingredients are better than real street food. Overall I’m not disappointed by the food despite arriving in the city late and walking past other restaurants on my list. Might stop by again but won’t be specifically traveling for the restaurant.

Malaysian food is really ‘coming of age’ in UK and I am very pleased about this. At last I can get tastes of Malaysia in UK. Having read about it, I had to visit Med Salleh Kopitiam, and I am glad that I did. Delicious food, a great atmosphere, friendly staff and fellow diners. Fellow Malaysians will also love the ‘Lat’ style illustrations and pictures of Malaysia around the restaurant. Food - is made fresh with great attention to the ‘correct’ way to prepare it. The Satay, is the best that I have had outside of Malaysia - lightly charred on the outside, soft and juicy inside with a superb peanut sauce. Malaysian style eating often mixes a range of different bings on the same plate and their Nasi Ganja does exactly this with delicious combinations of fish, chicken, egg, rice etc., Sambal prawns and tofu was likewise delicious. After all this, we left space for ice kacang, a strange dessert to many but a delicious combination of shaved ice, jellies, beans, syrups etc it was. There is also many other things to have - noted as we looked enviously at other fellow diners. Prices - are obviously not Malaysian prices but noting the quality of ingredients, the careful time-consuming preparation, and the location just off Bayswater Road in London, prices are very fair. Location - just off Bayswater Road, London, 2 minutes from Bayswater tube station Service - lovely, attentive, friendly and helpful. If you unsure about Malaysian cuisine, just ask. Or ask fellow diners. They are open for breakfast, lunch, dinner and whenever you go, go hungry!

Absolutely spellbound by the culinary journey Med Salleh Kopitiam took me on. A true gem in the heart of London, their offerings effortlessly transport you to the streets of Malaysia.🇲🇾 I had the privilege of indulging in their oyster pancake - a symphony of taste and texture, and the Hainanese chicken rice was as authentic and flavourful as any I've had in Malaysia itself. The curry laksa had a rich and aromatic broth, tantalizing my palate with every spoonful. And the roti canai? Flaky, buttery perfection, just as it should be. It's no wonder that even dignitaries such as the Malaysian Queen and Deputy Prime Minister have graced this establishment. And when food critic Jay Rayner writes an ode to a place like he did for Med Salleh Kopitiam, you know you're in for an extraordinary gastronomic experience. Can't recommend this place enough🥰
