The first real restaurant where I visited and it game me full of happiness and happy memory of British plates! Who said British food is terrible?? It is terrific. Elicia was the one who brought perfect moment to my family!! She was incredible~~
We had such an amazing dinner at this lovely pub. The atmosphere was incredible and the food was just as good. I had the chicken Sunday roast and my friend had the beef and we enjoyed both. The desserts were just the cherry on top. They source everything from local farms and you can tell by the quality. Elle looked after us and I’m not going to lie - she gave us the best customer service we’ve had in London. We felt at home. We would definitely come back.
Nice pub located near Hyde Park near the Hyde Park stables.
Came on a Sunday afternoon just for drinks. Had great service from our waiter and let us relax and enjoy the weather. I tried the stout they had on tap and had a great pint. They have a wide drink menu I including cocktails and spirits.
I also tried their espresso which was great! Very rare from a pub.
Lost a star for less than appealing bathrooms..
I would definitely visit again. Follow me on Google Maps for more pub reviews
Good food and service. I had the vegetarian Sunday roast, which was quite good. The Yorkshire pudding was great, the loaf was OK and the veg was well cooked.
Excellent food and great friendly service. Easy to book our table and easy to access from Paddington station. Great choice of drinks too. Only gripe would be that it was very warm in the restaurant, but with the doors and windows open you get the occasional smell of horse poo coming through from the stables next door. I’m an animal lover so doesn’t bother me , would definitely visit again! Pictured is the Sunday roast (beef) and rhubarb Bakewell tart.
Julie and Elisia were exceptional hosts. The team were super accommodating and caring. Would highly recommend for an easy Sunday afternoon. Also there’s quite a lot of history surrounding the pub. If you’re looking for a proper English Sunday pub experience. Definitely drop in
Amazing meal, with great service and unique atmosphere. Not only was the food delightful to taste, the portions were great and we felt right at home with the friendly patrons. Great place to go with friends and family. And we even saw the horses!
Yum! I was pleasantly surprised by how delicious their Sunday roast was! The stars were the gravy and the side of roasted veggies they served! The gravy was very flavorful and the veggies were perfectly cooked and seasoned to perfection. If you want to enjoy a proper roast without the hullabaloo of the more touristy spots, I’d highly recommend going to The Stablehand!
Decent wine list with a good selection of British wines. Good cocktails as well. Didn't eat much here and they were tad light on the vegan options but lovely warm bread and great chips. Service was friendly.
27/11/22.
The ambiance is good with the dim light and the good english music.
The staff is kind.
I order Slow-Roasted Lamb Shoulder for £18.95. It was very good. One of the best things I eat in my life. The meat was perfect and the seasonal vegetables were very good.
I recommend.
Had a lovely Sunday lunch here on Sunday 15 January.
Cosy ambience with striking red stripe walls & equestrian paintings.
We were a party of 4 celebrating my brothers birthday & our waitress Ellie could not have been more friendly & efficient.
The pub was busy but Ellie went out of her way to look after us and even found us some candles to put on our pudding.
The food was delicious and generous. We were disappointed that the horseradish had run out but it didn't detract from a well cooked traditional roast.
Would definitely recommend
We visited the Stable pub with my Brother in law and his wife who is Japanese. While they were over for a short visit we were walking around the area we came across your pub, we were lucky that you had a table free. The service we received was excellent, the food was very good my wife and I had the fish and chips it was the best we have eaten, we will be back.
Not your average pub. The food is pretty good, the staff great and the service excelllent!
Interesting deco: dark wood panels, white n red striped paper on the walls and deep red leather seats around the wall. Very traditional English look nicely mixed with a modern look, little marble top tables and purple and brown velvet chairs, clearly connected with the 28-50 chain. Very pleasant visually.
Equestrian paintings on the walls, a clear reference to the working stables next door. If you're lucky you may be having a drink and the horses will pass by! The outside area a plus!!
Starter of Devilled Lamb's liver with marinated cubes of lamb served on a bed of spinach on sourdough toasted bread. Well cooked and tasty.
Slow roasted lamb shoulder as a!main, the lamb deliciosly soft and tender flaking.
The lemon posset dessert a fitting end to a very good meal.
It is a heavy meal thou so wouldn't have it too late.
Drinks are all from British producers, the red wine list a work in progress. However, the pinot noir they have is quite good and well priced.
All in all, a pub look with a restaurant feel. Highly recommended.
A really nice, cosy pub with an extremely good roast dinner and comprehensive English wine list. Service was very good, would recommend if looking for an authentic pub for a decent Sunday roast near Paddington
We ate outside due to COVID case increases in London. It was pretty cold and windy and only one of the outside heaters worked. Even though we sat under it (and we had to scoot our table to be directly under it), it offered no help. The restaurant can't control the weather but I wanted to make note so others can plan accordingly.
The service was quite slow, even by European standards. I know there are staffing issues due to covid, again, just be prepared to spend some time there. If you ask for still water you'll get charged for and receive bottled water. We had cocktails that were fresh, well-made, and large portion sizes. Our root vegetable chips came out first and were crisp and well-salted. We then received the creamed spinach and English asparagus, leek, and potato cake. The asparagus was on top of the cake and the spears were tender. I thought the cake was rather oily. The sauce and beans that came with it were nice. For the creamed spinach, it is certainly not the dish you would get in the States-- it's a thin cream sauce rather than the thick one you might expect. Just a different style I suppose! But it was quite tasty. We had asked for the purple broccoli but our waitress hadn't heard us, and at that point we'd been in the cold long enough and didn't want to wait for that. Location was convenient to Hyde Park and our hotel near Paddington Station. I would definitely recommend for cocktails under different weather/circumstances.
Really enjoyable experience from moment we walked in to leaving. Friendly welcome from the team, knowledgeable staff re menu and then followed by good food! Being a little picky there were a few items unavailable from menu but hey that was because they had experienced a busy bank holiday weekend, am so pleased about that, busy probably means sustainability and the place stays open, which in turn means I can return!! It’s a limited menu and while some people could criticise that, for me I love it because it usually means the cooking is manageable and good. It wasn’t just good it was fabulous!
Looking forward to using this place regularly!
Elle was an amazing server!!! She was knowledgeable, helpful, and highly professional. The food was superb from starter to dessert! Lovely atmosphere—we couldn’t ask for a more satisfying English dining experience!
