Perhaps the best fish and chips I’ve had! Tasty, totally crispy (crust and fries), and the mushrooms were top notch crispy too. Good wines by the glass. It was £22.50 for the meal, not bad (for London). I strongly recommend making a reservation!!! Although it was well worth the wait, nearly an hour on line was tough on the feet. Service was great, friendly, efficient and helpful.

I opted for the traditional Cod, accompanied by all the classic trimmings. Every bite was a comforting embrace – the fish, impeccably fried, boasted the ideal balance of crispy batter to succulent fish. Paired with perfectly cooked chips and complemented by curry sauce and tartare, it was a culinary journey through British tradition. While mushy peas aren't my personal favorite, they sat on the plate looking as authentic as one could expect. The bustling ambiance was a testament to the restaurant's popularity. By 5:30 pm, a queue had formed and tables were full. Fortunately, our foresight to book in advance paid off. With the theatre as our next stop, we were pleasantly surprised by the swift service, ensuring we enjoyed our meal without feeling rushed. Mayfair Chippy not only satisfied my Fish and Chips craving but secured a spot on my must-visit list for future London trips.

Wonderful experience! We loved every bit. We did a bit of a side by side taste test of the cod vs haddock. IT came with all the proper fixins and everything was amazing. When we first got there and saw the whopping line around the corner we figured it was going to take forever to get sat and almost didnt wait but we only had to wait maybe 15-20 min. Our Server, Aura from Italy was wonderful as well!

If you go to London, at some point you’re going to want fish and chips; this is the place to go. Suggested by our cab driver, the food here was amazing and the tartar sauce was delicious. Unfortunately, the service was not good and is the only reason I am not giving it 5 stars. There were very few people taking orders and you could tell those working were stressed. The restaurant itself was also very cramped. If you don’t have a reservation, you’ll most likely end up at a little, cramped bar area instead of an actual table, which may have contributed to a poor experience. They also mixed up our order with the folks sitting next to us at the bar, but they fixed it immediately. The Classic was about £23 and a large portion, easily shareable if you don’t eat a lot between two people. Our cab driver mentioned that the line is often out the door as well. We were there around 1900 and the line was starting to form. I would highly recommend The Mayfair, but I recommend a reservation for the best experience.

I chose this place to have lunch on my birthday, being a big fan of fish and chips. A quick tip: make sure to book in advance to avoid a 30-45 minute wait in line. However, a gin & tonic helped us make the wait more enjoyable! The food was incredibly delicious, making the visit truly worthwhile. I highly recommend this place – a must-visit spot!

Visit London only to taste the original Fish & Chip. This restaurant didn’t make me disappointed. The Michelin some years ago was totally worth. The restaurant only drawback is the portion is to big for me, but it’s ok. You should book a table before coming, otherwise you will be placed on a much less convenient table there.

4.5. Faultless Fish & Chips. I booked this restaurant to enjoy lunch on a day trip to London primarily as I am Gluten free and heard the Gluten free Fish and chips are fab, and they were! Portions large, not greasy at all, not salty either. Delicious. Service was great and attention to dietary requirements was much appreciated. Make sure you book in advance and although it’s not cheap, it’s worth it. Two minor points of improvement, my table had a very strong smell of cleaning products/ air freshener. I was in the restaurant early so perhaps area had just been cleaned but it was a bit off putting. Also at 1230 the toilets were out of toilet paper (Luckily I didn’t need it !)…perhaps customers stole all the rolls but I doubt it…. Overall a great restaurant. Thanks

This for me was the best fish and chips I've have ever eaten. I've had fish and chips in Brighton, Manchester, London and a few other places accross the UK and the level of quality is in a league of ots own. The batter was perfectly crispy and perfect in terms of flavour and texture. The chips were perfectly fried and maintained their crispness even after adding lots of salt and vinegar. The tartar sauce was home made and was so creamy and had a perfect balance of ingredients. This fish and chips is perfect and can't fault it at all. I don't think it can get any better than this. This sets a new bench mark and was truly love at first bite!

First of all be prepared to wait on line unless you book a table ahead!!! They have the best fish and chips AND the best GLUTEN-FREE fish and chips anywhere! Don't forget to have a wonderful cider too! The manager worked harder than anyone I've seen but he is so very efficient and super friendly.

Best fish n chips in London. I absolutely enjoyed it. Best to book as you could encounter long wait lines. Great service too. It was well worth the wait.
