The Horse and Gaurdsman was recommended to me by a family member who had visited London on a previous trip. I will recommend it to all of you as well. This is a classic English pub experience. Find a table an note down the table number. Order food and drinks at the bar and let them know your table number. All the staff members were very polite and helpful. We ordered the steak and ale pie and the fish and chips. You can have these dishes all over town, but there is only one Horse and Guardsman. The inside of this pub is so cool and the atmosphere is wonderful with a mix of locals and tourists. Very professional service. I highly recommend.

Great place for lunch or a bite to eat! Great decor and traditional pub feel without going over the top! Well worth a visit! Beef was lovely the McMullen’s mild was outstanding.

Good McMullen's Brewery pub on Whitehall a short walk from Trafalgar Square. Three cask beers on handpump when I visited including a mild. The pub was until 2020 a Wetherspoon's house, that company having converted a Barclays bank. The venue is split-level and wall decorations include a giant picture of "Scotland for Ever", Lady Butler's famous 1881 painting of the charge of the Royal Scots Greys cavalry at Waterloo.

On the same block as the famous horsebound royal guards, is the Horse & Guardsman. Presumably, there was a time when it was always frequented by the soldiers after (hopefully not before) their duty. The restaurant takes you back in time with wooden tables, walls and bannisters. A large beautiful bar is set off to one side when you enter and a wooden stairwell on the other. There is comfortable seating above and below the second floor that is very welcome after walking back from Buckingham Palace. The whole restaurant is adorned with historical suits of armor, swords and pictures of former gaurdsmen and great horse men and women. The pub has a great selection of alcoholic beverages and sodas. The menu is traditional pub style. I had the waygu burger with chips and a pint of Guinness. My wife had the fish and chips. Both were 5 star ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐. I highly recommend watching the changing of the horseguard and a meal. You will not be disappointed.

The staff were extremely friendly, very efficient and polite, which these things are often hard to find. The food was amazing. The steak was very nice, one comment though and it's not a slur but the 'chips' that came with it weren't quite what I expected as they were more like fries, but they were hot and very tasty. I brought the brie sharer and the steak and for less than £40 I thought was a really good price. I was scoping the place out with my buddy as I am probably going to be visiting on Remembrance Sunday, after going to the Cenotaph. So a big thank you to all the staff. Very impressed. I was thinking of taking the big picture on the 'feature' wall but....well you see what I'm talking when you visit. The decor and lighting was very nice, a good mix and the bar looked amazing with the dark walls and the lights worked really well.

Lovely centrally located English pub - very attentive staff member welcomed us through the door and identified a table for us with our need to accommodate a wheelchair - much appreciated. Other staff also very attentive and professional. Will come back. Pie taster plate very tasty.

We stopped here for a drink and a quick bite to eat on our walk from Westminster Abbey to the national gallery. Ordered drinks and snacks on the app, ended up with two drinks each because of a mistake at the bar so two for the price of 1, service was good, food was really good value for an excellent light lunch.

Lovely ambiance close to the action- not far from Trafalgar Square. Lovely building of character and elegance. Nice good value meal. Pay at the bar. Quite busy so be aware of peak times. Would go again!
