Had a great meal. Particularly happy with the prawn starter. Staff also happy to give a leftover steak bone for my dog. And he was happy to be there and be allowed to sit on the seats.
They provided a water bowl and a few small bone shaped treats.
The potato side come with a fantastically crisp skin.
We had a really nice Sunday lunch to celebrate my friends birthday. And one of the best restaurants I've been in a long time. And nice to not go up into town to have a top meal.
We were a group of 6 and had selection of snacks, starters, mains and desserts and it was all top notch. All the flavours were great and very little to fault. Our only criticism was the roast beef pieces were small and thin, so wouldn't say its your typical Sunday roast.

Service was immaculate from the moment we got in. Staff were always on hand, very attentive, polite, friendly and catered for the varying diet needs of our table. Despite the ridiculous warm weather and kitchen heat they remained very professional and calm.
The venue is an old pub turned into a restaurant and fairly cosy inside, which we enjoyed as it had a warm and classic feel. And the decor and lighting suited the environment. There's street parking in the side road which was handy.
Would definitely like to go back as well as try out the other Kudu restaurants if this was anything to go by. Big thank you to the team for hosting us.
Old pub turned seminal introduction to - if you've never been to the country - South African cuisine. Does a sharing steak that's good enough by the meat alone, but is differentiated from many equivalents by its sauce. Many of the other dishes were also initially familiar, but made memorable by some unexpected lift in the cooking. Let down by the up-selling to four courses by the staff - you don't need the snacks.
Just one of the best restaurants that I have been lately. The food is just spot on. It doesn’t just look pretty, it also tastes amazing. As a fine dining lover, I don’t look just for the atmosphere, because I can’t ignore the fact that is a restaurant and not just a bar. One of the best surprises that I had. Left the place very happy and saying “this is my type of restaurant, is covers all fronts”
Have been here for many times. It’s one of my favorite restaurants in London.
I finally tried the Sunday roast. It was super delicious, however I felt the portion of the beef could be more generous as it costed £28 for a plate.
So good. Pork was the best pork either of us had ever had, dessert was amazing. Good service. Would recommend for a special occasion - in the top 3 restaurants we’ve been to in London.
I wonder if I should spill the tea, because this restaurant has a quaintness to it, which I hope it will not lose when the public discover it.
The service is excellent. Kind, friendly, honest and proud about what they serve. And they should be!
The dishes are wonderful, every single one adds joy and is on point.
My tips:
The grilled potato flat bead, the Kalahari spiced biltong, the sea bass crudo, the harissa tartar and the pork chop monkey gland sauce.
Honeslty, every foodie needs to experience this place.
As for dessert, they have two options, just get them both.
It was a great pleasure to eat here.
What a fantastic little gem. It is slightly a bit of travel if you live more into London but it’s definitely worth the travel. The chicken was absolutely beautiful and il be back to try the steak tonight !
Thank you
Great dining experience here - I haven't been to a South African restaurant before but this certainly set the bar high for any future meals!
Pork was great, and better than the monkfish. Burrata and prawn starters excellent. Biltong was slyly addictive. Little bit expensive (70 per person with only one alcoholic drink) but worth it.
Service was insanely quick, we were done in less than an hour! Will be back at some point in the future no doubt.
Very much recommend a visit. T-Bone, Pork Chop, Oysters, and Prawns in particular were excellent. The sauce on the prawns was exceptional. Nice atmosphere and good cocktails. Used to enjoy Babette on this site so am glad that it has a very worthy local successor!
After numerous recommendations we finally got o eat at KG and were in no way disappointed. Incredible food from start to finish, unique flavours and styles we've not had before that were such a great change from the normal offerings in the area. Monkfish was particularly good. We had Great service and all for sensible money, will definitely return for the Pork!! 5 star
We really enjoyed the food as everything was delicious but the 4 star rating reflects the smaller portion sizes for the price and the service. We came for Sunday lunch and shared the grilled prawns in peri peri sauce (good), harissa beef tartar (so good), grilled potato flatbread, whole black bream with zhug butter roti (fish was cooked perfectly), side of spinach (it was meant to come with truffle but there was no taste of it) and the beef rump roast (beef was tender and all the sides were great). For dessert, we shared the brunt cream ganache with malt ice cream and the choux bun. Although the service was generally polite and friendly, our waitress put a lot of pressure on us to order more starters/snacks saying it wasn't going to be enough (even though we were ordering 1 starter and 3 mains for 3 people to share and were wanting dessert). We only ordered one extra dish given we knew what we ordered was enough (and we could order more if it wasn't!), so felt that was really unnecessary and slightly awkward.
Kudu Grill is a fantastically intimate and homely restaurant. The tables are set perfectly to suit a date night, small groups or larger groups of people without feeling boxed in or uncomfortable. As a Zimbabwean, I was looking forward to this visit and it completely exceeded all expectations. The authentic flavours and smokiness from the Braai really hit home for me. From start to finish, each course kept on elevating in flavours and textures. The starter courses couldn’t prepare you more for what was the most delicious main course with all the sides that perfectly complimented every element of the dishes. In the end we were left very full and satisfied.
We really through the deserts would be simple and light after such a feast. How wrong we were when the deserts came because the deserts almost rivalled the main course. This was possibly the best selection of deserts I’ve had in all of Londons top restaurants including Michelin. I couldn’t fault anything at all about the deserts as we were too stunned to speak while eating.
What a phenomenal dining experience at Kudu Grill really left us wanting more and exploring their other Kudu Restaurants in London.
My only negative would be the selection of cocktails which was quite disappointing. The amount of cocktail you get for the set price did not make sense considering their mocktails were more than double the size. It’s understandable to have a smaller glass for their most strong cocktail but surely not for all their cocktails. The glasses for water were bigger than the cocktail glasses which was a little annoying. We ended up ordering mocktails half way through to avoid blowing our pockets by ordering more cocktails
In conclusion, this is a must eat restaurant for all who love elegant and smokey food. Everything on the menu was so mouthwatering and the fan favourite dishes really lived up to the hype. I cannot wait to go back and also try their other restaurants.
Highly recommended.
This was a remarkable dinner, I enjoyed every dish - especially the monkfish, fingerling potatoes, prawns & carrots. As you can see it was hard not to photograph everything as each dish was beautiful. It came to around £80 per person with drinks so I'd say definitely one for a special occasion!
If you love Kudu, you'll love Kudu grill. In fact I much prefer it as it is more spacious! Food is just as good. Tbone steak for 2, oysters, trout were the winners for us! Great attentive service too!
Really really delicious food. Would recommend the steak as its grilled to perfection. Sat at the counter and loved watching each dish being made. The highlight for me was the staff, the knowledge of each dish was insane and each element was timed to perfection. The also catered to my gluten allergy by offering a different dessert
I've tried the other kudus and I actually think this is my favourite. It's a lot more spacious and just had such a nice vibe and style. Went on a Sunday, the food was incredible as expected! Service was great. Wine selection was delicious. The bread is amazing with lardo. We had two starters, one main and two sides it was more than enough for two hungry people. The Sunday roast plate was just gigantic and easily shareable for two.
The melktart choux bun was incredible! Skip the choc ganache here it's a little too smokey for our taste... I think that was in the crumb.
Otherwise an excellent place to visit.
We had a spent bottle of wine so the £180 bill wasn't so bad!
I would give this place a 6 if I could. I mean it's a very expensive meal, but worth it. We went with friends and were able to pretty much order most dishes on the menu to try. The shrimps were out of this world, oysters were fresh and divine, the sharing steak was delicious and my husband is still talking about the pomme puree with crispy chicken skin. I would happily come back and order exactly the same meal again..
Loved this restaurant. Went with my family for my brothers birthday. The rest of the family eat a lot of meat but I only eat fish. I still loved the options available to me on their menu and they offered to make the sides suitable for my diet so that I could enjoy them too. Would definitely go again. The oysters were some of the best I have ever tasted!!
