The food here is excellent however the service is pretty hit or miss. When you book you are asked the occasion but during our visit for a birthday there wasn’t anything done for us. We did see another table get a small cake/candle brought out but that might have been one they brought themselves. The staff are pleasant but constantly rushing around so you don’t really feel looked after.
Back to the food the truffle pizza and pasta was amazing. Great portion and quality. Definitely worth a try. The giant burrata was nearly as good and super tasty.
The decor is impressive but I wish there was more space as the walking paths are extremely narrow like a budget airline.
The tiramisu was great but much smaller than you’ve seen on social media. It looks like they’ve moved to using a tiny metal bowl and the scoops are half the size. So essentially you are getting about half of what you’ve seen marketed. As a positive the waistline will forgive you
In all the food is amazing so I would go back. Just don’t expect much from the service.
Dinner at Ave Mario hit a sour note that even Ave Maria's melodic grace couldn't harmonize. As enthusiasts of Big Mamma restaurants, we entered with high expectations, drawn to the lively ambiance and robust menu. Unfortunately, our evening was marred by a series of disappointments.
The night started with my beer order, which was left neglected at the bar for a good 15 minutes. Even after bringing it to the server's attention, he walked by it several times before finally picking it up, inexplicably topping it off, and serving it.
The service continued to falter as the evening progressed. My date's second glass of wine was ordered with our appetizers, but despite repeated requests, it never arrived at our table. Each time we inquired, we were met with no apologies and no action. By the time we had finished our meal, the wine was still missing and, astonishingly, it wasn't even included in our tab.
Though the food at Ave Mario had its merits, the lackluster service overshadowed the culinary experience. A restaurant that doesn't pay heed to the basic needs of its patrons is difficult to recommend. Unfortunately, Ave Mario fell short of our expectations, and our anticipated enjoyable evening turned into an exercise in patience and frustration. If service is a priority for you, you may want to consider dining elsewhere.❤💝💝
Location perfect!! I love the lights, decorations and the neons. I have booked this place 3 weeks in advance cause I have seen the reviews and it’s always full booked.
In my opinion the pasta was a little dry, but this is my personal taste. Excellent starters, perfect service thanks to Pablo who was always friendly and at our disposal.
I recently dined at this charming Italian restaurant, and it was an absolute delight! The ambiance exudes good vibes, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. The menu offers a mouthwatering selection of Italian classics, and the food lived up to the hype. From flavorful pasta dishes to perfectly cooked pizzas, each bite was a culinary delight. What's even better is that the prices are incredibly reasonable for the quality of food and service you receive. It's a hidden gem for those seeking a taste of Italy without breaking the bank. I highly recommend this spot for a fantastic Italian dining experience!
Amazing atmosphere- several different rooms with really different vibes. Downstairs you can see straight into the kitchen. Really unique place, tea served in a teapot which looked like a swan!
Delicious food, portions slightly on the small side but really tasty.
Catered very well to a dietary requirement.
Great and very friendly service.
Highly recommended!
Amazing atmosphere and delicious food. Big mama does not disappoint again. They make birthdays special - singing HBD or low key, you just need to let them know. Please think of lactose free option but to be able to enjoy the food.
Great decor. Wonderful selections on the menus. Amazing food and presentation.
The most outstanding service by Zuza. Made our afternoon special.
The food is always great and the service is friendly but spotty. If you are seated in the basement near the open kitchen, then it gets pretty hot! The pizza and pastas are their signatures but the steak is a bit on the price side! Be sure to try one of their signature cocktails 🍹
Ave Mario was delicious at first sight. It felt like home in the best way. The drinks hit the spot, the food was plated beautifully and tasted delicious. The food was full of flavor and don't sleep on the carbonara served for 2 out of a cheese wheel! The bathrooms even impressed me! We ate here in between two West End shows and we had enough time for drinks, dinner & dessert. I can't wait to go back.
An Italian restaurant with a modern design full of colors.
The waiters are professional and give service with a show
Fresh and delicious classic dishes from Italian cuisine.
Delightful desserts and excellent cocktails.
Reservations must be made in advance.
An excellent Italian restaurant with delicious pastas and dessert. The service was amazing and the décor beautiful. A great place for family dinner, date or a Sunday brunch. They have outside sitting as well in the front and the back of the restaurant.
Arrived wanting a table for two without pre-booking. I gave my phone number and was told I’d receive a text when a table became available. We had a lovely stroll around Covent Garden until I received the text as expected.
I highly recommend the Triple Cheese Truffle Polenta, it was simply delicious and perfect as a dip for your pizza crusts. I hope it stays on the Menu.
Atmosphere was lovely, we were seated by the kitchen bar and had a lovely view of the kitchen, I was impressed with how much space there was as we were in the underground level seating area.
Service was also very quick and friendly.
What a great venue! Very atmospheric and the staff are extremely friendly and accommodating (we asked to move tables/floor). The restaurant is over 2.5 levels. The only negative comment we have was that the basement level smelt a bit of drains. The bathrooms are especially crazy!!! Loved it.
Love the decoration of the restaurant. The pastas were really good. Pizza lack of crispy crust which is a little let down for me.
Service was excellent. Overall a good dining experience.
Beautiful and nice Italian restaurant in Covent Garden area. We were delighted with food, wine and desserts. The tip is do not pay the bill using the QR code it costs a checkout fee of £2.99. But your call, after having a good time, vibe, enjoying the food, etc. it's peanuts the £2.99 or NOT.
Dined here for a birthday celebration and the experience couldn’t have been any better. The waiters were very accommodating to our needs and always around to check up on the table. I would come back here again and again for Italian food.
The food was incredible and there was a wide range of drinks on the menu. We went for red wine on the night which was absolutely fantastic (PRIMITIVO I.G.P. | 2021* | ZULLO | PUGLIA on the menu).
I also highly recommend trying the carbonara (which is served per 2 guests).
The restaurant is very cute and the quality of the food is spectacular! That was my husband’s choice to celebrate our anniversary and I was mesmerized by the delicious truffle pasta I ate there. My husband was very happy with his funghi pasta. The burrata and focaccia were also very good! Definitely coming back!
Make sure to book in advance as the queues get quite big for walk in!
