This family-run restaurant is a real hidden gem. The food was absolutely spot on - perfectly ripe avocados and plantains; great slow-cooked meat; and the tastiest arepas.
The restaurant was moderately busy on a Tuesday night, but deserves to be packed. For the moment, reservations don't seem necessary, although I wouldn't be surprised if that changes.
The only point for improvement would be ventilation. There's a portable air con unit plumbed in, which is extracting some of the cooking smells, but my clothes still smelled quite strongly of fried food the morning after.
The best arepas, tequeños and guasacaca sauce in London! Delicious food (including good veggie and vegan options) and it always has a great atmosphere at any time of day - good for brunch / lunch / dinner & drinks. The owner Adrian is a legend and the rum & papellón con limón cocktails are delicious.
This is the second time that I've visited Conuco and it never disappoints. The food is outstanding and full of flavour and the staff are very welcoming, especially Adrian. I would definitely recommend and will be visiting again soon.
We’ve been coming to this place for a while now, and it never disappoints! The food is always so delicious and the atmosphere is very nice and relaxed. The staff is super friendly and welcoming. Can’t recommend Conuco enough!

We’ll definitely go back 🇻🇪
Food reviews - Conuco
I will preface my review by first mentioning that I am biased, as I’ve become friends with Adrian over the last couple years of eating at Conuco. Also, this will be a little long.
First time I came was in 2021 I believe, I had been working from Cable Cafe during the morning. This time, the tomatoes weren’t going to be enough, so I ventured out on Brixton Road to find a spot. I see Conuco a couple doors into my expedition, and the rest is history.
Before I go into it, yes, there are enough options for vegans!
The first thing, the service. I was immediately impressed by the warm and welcoming atmosphere. Went to the front, greeted by Adrian was advised on which arepa to get. I obliged and was not let down.
Let’s get into what you came for, the food. I started with the tequeños, which was a great choice. The tequeños at Conuco are some of the best I've ever had. The dough is perfectly crispy yet soft on the outside and soft and chewy on the inside. The cheese is gooey and melted, and the combination of flavors is simply irresistible.
I also had an arepa, which are cornmeal patties that are filled with a variety of ingredients, for those that haven’t had it before. I had the Reina Pepiada, which is filled with shredded chicken, avocado, and mayonnaise. It was the perfect combination of flavors and textures. They have sauces to enhance all the flavours, the guasacaca & Adrians own hot sauce1
They’ve recently added some new dishes to the menu, my highlight is the sancocho. It’s a heartwarming and flavour bomb of a beef stew/broth. The broth is rich and flavorful, and the vegetables are cooked until they are tender. The meat is also cooked perfectly, and it is falling-off-the-bone tender
I think that’s enough. I’ve brought plenty of friends, and all have loved it.
Our first time at Conuco tonight and we weren’t disappointed!
Great atmosphere, nice decor and some great music.
We had the Papelon con Limon to drink which was delicious. To eat, I had a we had Reina Pepiada arepa and a Pabellón Criollo arepa both were very filling and we couldn’t recommend the Pabellón Criollo any more highly. The caramelised plantain and avocado with the pulled beef was top notch!
A must if you’re in the area.
Will definitely be visiting again.
Amazing food and service! Been coming here since I moved to Brixton and hands down this has become my favourite restaurant in London. Everything on the menu is delicious and the people who run the place are amazing and have always treated me with kindness. Would recommend this place to anyone!
First time experiencing empanadas and arrepas and it was great! Service was great and friendly, just needs a little bit more organisation for table service seems like they're short staff. The beef options were definitely the winning choices for us first timers! Super decent price for London - not sure what the other reviewer was talking about saying it was expensive! 2x arrepas and 2x empenadas ~£18. Highly recommended
Best authentic venezuelan arepas place in London in my opinion. Allergens declared properly and gluten free and vegan options available. Lovely atmosphere in the restaurant but also had take out before. Great friendly staff, amazing arepas and fair priced.
