This place lives up to the hype. Wife and I were eager to try authentic fish and chips and were pleasantly surprised at the freshness of the fish. Batter is not too greasy and felt like good tempura. Pie is very good and the kidney has a mild gamey flavor. Loved the grilled fish and imagine that the haddock would be great grilled. Will visit again!
Best fish I ever tried, absolutely crunchy. I tried better french fries also, but not bad at all. The sweet potato fries were a better option here, very soft and crunchy. Good value for money also, except for the halloumi salad which is small and overpriced. I would come back for the fish definitely.
THE BEST FISH AND CHIPS! This place is spectacular! Gluten friendly options as well! The owner is an amazing person and made sure we could sit outside when we were initially sat outside! We came here because my mom and I can't eat gluten and thought we might as well try this place since it came up as a result when we looked up gluten free fish and chips. Our food was outstanding, but the service was even better if you can believe it! Get the sticky toffee pudding for dessert. SO GOOD! We got talking with the owner and he told us his story and how he got where he is now. Such an inspiring and friendly guy. This place is tucked away in a small alley about a five minute walks from Piccadilly Circus. Definitely worth a stop during your London trip. Restaurant is so cute and is great for pics! Will definitely be returning!
Enjoyed our experience here. Not a too far of a walk from the British Museum. The server was attentive and the food came in a fast enough manner. The food was good, but I would have liked a bit more fish for the price. Definitely a solid option if you're looking for some fish and chips.
Great food, great atmosphere! The service took a while though.
The gluten free cod with chips was simply amazing. It’s been a long while since I’ve had gluten free fried cod, and this was done simply perfectly. It was nice and crispy, and not too oily. The chips were likewise nice and crispy; the entire meal was at a nice temperature when received.
The toffee with ice cream likewise was amazing. Nice and gooey and the warm toffee coupled with the ice cream made for a nice dessert! This is simply one dessert you must try if you visit here - if you don’t get anything else, get this!
The only issue we had was trying to get table service. We really needed refills on some of the condiments as well as our water. By the time we saw our waitress again, we were finished with our meal. We really could have used that extra water.
Other than that, this was a great business and I look forward to visiting it again.
Nice fish and chips during our trip in London! There was a line if you didn't have a reservation, but we could rapidly get a spot. The batter was really nice and crunchy, however the cod didn't have much taste by itself, needed it to add some extra salt.
Checked out this place based on their number of reviews since every time pass by they look very busy. Got two different fish and chips and they onion rings. Overall taste good but nothing too special that make it as best fish and chips place for me. Service was also also even though they have a lot of staff.
Didn't planed to go there at first but I passed by this place and it seemed attractive. Did have to wait for 5 minutes at rush time but it was worth it. Great choices of fish&chips with different kind of fish (I chose haddock). Great daught beer too. Fish was really big (I expected to have a smaller one but it was good enough to finish). I'll definitely come again if I'm nearby.
Service was great too, nice people, welcoming.
A bit noisy but this was because of a large Spanish group nearby
It is English restaurant. If you are looking for halal fish and chips with English ambience. They don’t have halal certificate but they are not serving pork so this is halal.
Now comes to taste. Their fish is good, crispy but I don’t like the vinegar. As a south Asian we don’t like bland food we need more flavour. So their vinegar was mild. We need to put more vinegar.
But All together it was good.
Price: 13.50 for fish and chips and 1 pound for tartar sauce
I
Such an incredible meal and experience! My family loves fish and chips and I’ve had tons at dozens of places, and I can say with a lot of context that this is truly delicious. Also, the service is really kind and helpful and the side salads were very tasty. We got haddock and cod.
Absolutely incredible. Firstly, the service is fantastic. Ed was the nicest person you could possibly meet. He happened to be from Doncaster where we were visiting from, so we had a lovely chat about the North.
Most importantly for this review however is the quality of the food, and it’s just stunning. We had both a cod and a haddock, and they were just flakey, crunchy and heavenly. Side of mushy peas to boot and delicious chips cooked to perfection finished the meal off perfectly. Will this be our last visit here? Not on your nelly (or belly), we will be back for a second round. Thank you to all the staff.
Very good fish and chips. I’m comparing to other countries’ fish and chips. This is much better than the fish market fish and chips in Melbourne. The batter is crispy, light, and the meat of the fish is fresh, flavourful and hot. I felt that the haddock had a little more flavour than the cod fish. The batter taste complemented the haddock’s better than the cod’s.
Onion rings were tasty and just the right doneness. Not too raw, still juicy. One of the best onion rings I’ve had.
The fries were a little disappointing, didn’t have much flair to it. So I would think it’s just a companion. That being said, the fried were the chunky ones, with quite a bit of potato in it. So quantity for cost wise, not too bad.
OUTSTANDING FISH AND CHIPS! Mushy Peas are a must to get here as well. Other dishes we saw being served looked amazing, too. Very friendly staff with exceptional service. I highly recommend this gem in Soho!
I ordered the kid sized gluten-free fish and chips and spinach. Neither of them was spectacular. The chips and fish hardly had salt. However, I really wanted to try this British fish while in London and was happy to find a centrally located place to help check the box.
Great friendly staff & the best fish and chips we’ve ever had. We also ordered calamari & a house salad and the whole meal was delicious 😊 A big mahalo from your customers visiting from Hawai’i!
Very nice fish and chips. Don't spend too much time deciding between cod and haddock. They taste equally great!
I had a hallumi salad as well which was also tasty.
The area is crime prone, so take extra care of your belongings while sitting in the restaurant.
lots of options on the menu, both traditional and more fancy (like grilled tuna or salmon). We had cod fish and chips, fish burger and fish pie. The homemade chips were perfect and the batter on the fish was light and not too oily. However, don’t order fish pie
The service is also friendly. If you’re looking for a good fish and chips restaurant this is definitely the one.
It’s a busy place, make a reservation before or come early
Fun chill place to eat an excellent fish and chips meal. My son and I went there two days in a row we liked it so much. We met the owner Ed, he is a very friendly guy yet professional. You can tell he really loves what he is doing. Delicious fresh food in a very casual setting . We will be back next time we are in London.
Came here on a Friday night around dinner time, but it was rather crowded with a long queue.
Came back again on a Saturday night, but after 10pm (just finished watching Book of Mormon), could walk in for a table easily.
Food was quite satisfying. My first British fish and chips on this trip to London.
