We experienced the Chef's Counter tasting menu which was delicious, generous and innovative from the first morsel to the last: London tasting menus can be disappointingly blah but this one restored our faith in modern British cooking that stems from smart chefs taking traditional and street foods and twisting them to new heights! In the 14+ dishes we enjoyed whilst watching the lovely chefs work, there were no misses, only the greatest hits - some happy food dancing was admittedly done in our comfortable, large chairs! And service at Bahli Hill is also brilliant, everyone was so friendly, knowledgeable and so efficient, yet we were not hurried in any way. This is a meal worth investing in - GO ALREADY!!
We came last night for my partners birthday, we was on the chefs counter which was an amazing experience. Each course had so many different flavours and it was some of the best Indian food we have ever had. Head chef Avi was friendly and so informative about all the dishes. We enjoyed the experience so much and recommend the restaurant. Thank you to all the waiting staff too who were so attentive and really made our night special.
I came here during my holiday, after seeing a post on instagram about the vibes and food and head chef! This place did not disappoint! Customer service was fantastic! Frances was the biggest help and provided me the best service and confidence I could have asked for in a busy dinner spot! The bartenders and staff were all so very kind and the food was just… so yummy and spectacular…yeah you have got to just go see for yourself if you are looking for a good spot in Soho London area!
The best Indian meal we have ever had. A flavour sensation. Floral, spicy, constantly surprising. The cocktails are out of this world, the bone marrow in the veal shin was silky and spicy and that mango cheesecake blew our minds. Francis was the best waiter imaginable and we can’t wait to come back! A feast.
An absolutely delightful and mouth watering dinner experience delivered by the Chef Avi & his team. Our taste buds were truly tantalised, you could taste & smell the freshness of ingredients used throughout the meal.
All the team made us feel very welcome, and we really enjoyed getting to know Chef Avi during our Chef Counter experience during the busy Friday evening service.
A great ambience, yummy cocktails and most of all you really got a sense of team spirit amongst the staff. A real pleasure to meet you all, we cant wait to return soon.
What a brilliant and delicious dinner. We were lucky to have the Chef’s table and could see, smell and listen how it’s done. Every course was sensational, but the lamb cutlets stood out. Accompanied by a wonderful service from Francis, it was just a perfect dinner.
We have been wanting to try Chef Avi’s food since he took Papri Chaat to the GBM banquet. On our recent trip to London, we finally got the opportunity. My husband and I went for the Chef’s Counter experience, to be able to taste an array of mouthwatering dishes. It was the best decision. And it was excellent value for money.
We reached a bit early so we had time for a long chat with Avi. He was warm, friendly, relaxed and chatty, which immediately set the tone for the rest of the evening.
The kitchen and serving staff were equally warm and welcoming. It was great to see two female chefs in the busy kitchen. The manager, Francis, who took care of our drinks during the evening went over and beyond, making us feel really special. The interaction throughout the evening was effortless and easy. Not rehearsed, robotic or formal. The restaurant was busy and buzzing, which only enhanced the experience.
Our food journey itself was a taste trail across India. The flavours were eclectic, drawn from regional Indian kitchens. The balance of spices made every dish sing, and the quality of the produce shone through. It was wonderful to have Avi explain the spices, flavours, techniques as well as the inspiration behind each dish. It made everything all the more enjoyable. We can’t pick any favourites because we loved them all.
I was in town for only one evening and this restaurant was recommended to me by a friend. I was alone and seated at the bar. A gentleman by the name of Francis took care of me and served me his favorites at my request. The food was as excellent as the service. I will be returning the next time I am in London.
Avi's food on Great British Menu got us super excited, so we just had to give it a try! We went there for a late lunch during our visit to London. To make it easier to choose, we went for the set lunch menu. Let me tell you, the Papadi Chat and the Mangalore crab bun were absolutely amazing! We gobbled them up happily and wouldn't hesitate to have them again. My partners veg thali had lots of tasty flavors with a nice portion of rice on the side. My chicken curry was also yummy, especially when eaten with the butter naan bread. Even though we were pretty full, we couldn't resist trying the rice pudding and the Carrot halwa. They were so delicious that I could eat them all day long! The cocktails were also really good. We can't wait to go back and try more of their amazing south Asian food.
We went to Pahli Hill for dinner. It was a great experience. The food is pretty good but the overall experience was improved by the service and cocktails.
The Mango Lassi cocktail is 100% worth the try. It’s not your standard lassi cocktail but a clarified cocktail.
We only had vegetarian small plates for dinner and were stuffed. The papdi chaat and hara kebab were favourites. The Khakhra and truffle kulcha were good too!
I absolutely loved the service at the restaurant. Our host was Francis and he was really great with his recommendations!
A great addition to the modern Indian scene in London!
