Coffee with a purpose!😍💜
It's so unique to come across such concept. As they have no franchise as similar to the other with respect to the ordinary place one could imagine. It brings that unique space to life as if it's telling you a story from the past with much historical value. After conversing with one of the people at WatchHouse Somerset, I came to know that one the rooms belong to a king and that's exactly where you sit and enjoy is so much fascinating. Not just an ordinary coffee but the coffee with unique taste giving recognition to it's bearer who grew it from places like Columbia to Costa Rica. I tried the brunch which was amazing. Felt bit expensive but every penny you invest is worth to treat yourself once a week. ;) And I also tried the hot chocolate which was yummy! It's a shame that I didn't try the coffee, but I'll definitely do in my next visit. Try the banana bread toasted! Ginger loaf💜 and Hot chocolate 😋
I would give 5 stars (even though the desserts were quite …) because of great savory dishes, drinks, and services provided.
The waiters and waitresses were very friendly and polite. All had smiles on their faces. Both outer and interior designs were very pretty. We also had a chance to take a look at King’s College’s campus from the outside, which was a plus.
We ordered truffle oil sourdough open sandwich with poached eggs, avocado salmon poached eggs sourdough, and hollandaise egg Benedict with english muffins. We all enjoyed the dishes. Cappuccino was very nice, too; it was lightly roasted coffee beans, harmonized with milk and foam.
We also ordered desserts afterwards, which included lemon cake, coffee and walnut financier, and egg tart. I must say they didn’t suit our tastes.
Fantastic coffee shop right in the beating heart of London's cultural centre. A great place to grab a quick bite or a smooth coffee. Also plenty of places to sit and catch up or do some work. In busy periods the cafe has a 90 minute table time slot because they know what a great place this is to catch up on some work.
On a warm sunny day, this should be by far the best cafe to grab your coffee and chill
right in the middle of Somerset House 😊
I’ve checked the dining area, which can be quite busy and loud. I'm not sure if it is worth visiting it, but I can tell that having coffee or light breakfast here is just brilliant. The coffee was also great too.
This place is a gem!! Beautiful, cozy, with excellent quality of coffee and delicious brunch options. I tried the avocado toast with poach egg, spinach and mushrooms. The quality of each ingredient was evident in every bite! Finish it with a Hot Chocolate! Trying it with the Oat milk they serve, is a must! Lastly the staff was exceptional. I was served by Mark! Best Host ever! Always smiling and with the best attitude. You can see their passion at what they do! Well done WH Summerset House ❤️
What can I say. Simply THE BEST coffee shop in London. Aesthetic interior, full table service, delicious food & coffee.
Wi-Fi is provided - 90min seating limit. Both indoor and outdoor seating. Located inside Somerset House.
Lots of students, families, and generally a trendy crowd. They sell desserts, coffee beans, and drinks too.
Highly recommend for all students, remote workers, professionals. Brunch is a excellent choice - note their kitchen closes at 3. Enjoy!
Discovered this place in London and loved everything about it. Came here twice for breakfast and planning to visit another location near Liverpool Street before leaving London tomorrow. The coffee tasted like it should, the orange juice was sweet and the food was lovely. The place is sophisticated and had the greatest London vibe.
Amazing third-wave coffee shop that offers aromatic brew with delectable dishes to boot! We ordered the iced mocha (iced drinks are an extra £0.5), a flapjack, and a sausage roll. The mocha was rich and chocolatey with sweet fruit notes from the coffee. The sausage roll had a light and crispy puff pastry with surprisingly a lot of filling, and the flapjack was quite tasty as well. In addition, the views overlooking the courtyard make WatchHouse Somerset House a can't miss place to grab a coffee if you're in central London!
P.S. it was a bit of an adventure for us to actually find the cafe but the easiest way we found was to enter the courtyard through Strand road (north entrance of Somerset House) and it'll be on your left hand side! Enjoy!
Watch House is the best coffee place in London, since Bermondsey Street opened I became happily addicted :) The Somerset House shop is spacious and comfortable, the surroundings make it even more special. Service was excellent and friendly. Breakfast burrito with a large oat cappuccino, I wish I could have it everyday!
Beautiful location and the quality that you get to expect from Watchhouse. My only critique would be how almost all their baked products have been victims of shrinkflation in recent times. Prices remain the same compared to 2022, but the portions have gotten tiny. The flapjack in my picture used to be easily twice its size last year.
