Great set menu, super attentive staff, excellent dining room. I had the set menu of three courses at £24 + £4 for a glass of house wine which they did not have so they gave me a glass of Chardonnay. The total bill with 12.5% service was £31.50
We met up with a couple of friends for a first visit to the Townsend Restaurant which is located in the Whitechapel Gallery in east london. It turned out to be a very nice lunch with good food and excellent service from Niki. The menu is a mix small and large plate’s designed for sharing. It als
Very good modern British restaurant in Whitechapel Gallery. The menu comprised eight dishes of varying sizes priced accordingly, together with three desserts. Everything is beautifully presented and full of flavour. Interesting wine list with about 10 choices offered by the glass. A very pleasant p
We ordered the crab cake. It was a very modest size, about 3 inches across. Clearly not enough so went on to order the parsnip with braised pork. Also not big But the sizes ultimately were irrelevant. The tastes here are extraordinary. So too tip for next time. Go for starters, mains and pudding.
visited this restaurant for the first time and ordered the pre-dinner bread and the three course lunch set menu. I felt that they were all high-quality dishes. Staff were friendly. It would be nice to look around the bookstore and gallery together after dinner. RATINGS Food : 4/5 Se
Lovely restaurant and comfy environment. Staffs are friendly The food is okay but not impressed. My friend said that she felt the trout dish is something she can make at home The dessert is okay but not necessarily to have Expresso martini is great though. Had many in the past and this one is surpri
We absolutely loved the vibe in here, the music was spectacular and the service very lovely. The food was great, we ordered several starters, one main course and dessert. Croquettes, crab toast, duck, fries and dark chocolate and pistachios with mandarine cake. They offer very good quality coffee
Nice location inside a museum. Delicious food with a good quality-price ratio, portion in line with a high rates restaurant. The 2/3 courses menu is a very good deal, wine list really good and wide. I would recommend the dessert (fig leaf cream with poached raspberries and almond biscuits) and the a
Completely unplanned dinner out, but what a superb restaurant to have it in, with incredibly friendly service. Only part of the restaurant was open, but only 3 tables were in use. We'd previously had one of their at-home dinners, which we'd enjoyed. The menu is short but varied, with plates of vario
Inside the Whitechapel Gallery, Townsend offers seasonal and creative modern British dishes in a quiet atmosphere. We had quite high expectations from the reviews/photos, but tastes weren’t as creative/interesting as they sound like(tastes good but no woww). For the price you pay(our bill came to ab
Good restaurant with gourmet British food, I just wish they had vegan options for the main meal and that they didn’t put cream and butter on everything. The atmosphere is nice.
Easy to miss spot as it is nestled in Whitechapel Gallery; but what a treat when you do discover it. My wife and I went for the tasting menu, which consists of four courses. Seasonal ingredients were used and flavours were light and refreshing. Service was excellent and our host was most delightful.
We wanted to like this place more, but were quite underwhelmed by the mains (do avoid the cooked pollock as it tastes absolutely bland with the celeriac paste.). We enjoyed the friendly service, the raw pollock (with blood orange and dill), and the beignets (a simple combination of fried flour balls
Super chill atmosphere, beautiful interior, very friendly staff and delicious modern British dishes. A 4 course set menu at £25 is hard to beat and the high quality ingredients guarantee a great culinary experience.
A fantastic meal at Townsend Restaurant. First time we’ve been and it certainly won’t be the last. Great modern British cooking, well sourced ingredients, fantastic flavours complimented by friendly, spot on service. Loved it.
We had a really pleasing evening. Amazing contemporary british food. The service was superb.
This place is a gem! The menu at the moment is full of seafood which was amazing. I didn't expect the modern British foods are good as this much. Because the menu changes every month, it's worth visit every month!
