Wonderful and delicious food. The process to order food was really easy via a kiosk. The food was great. Borough Market is crazy busy as always but was still able to eat at Mei Mei.
Had the Hainanese Chicken Rice. It was juicy and succulent. The flavors were all there. Not a bad price either.
I FINALLY visited Mei Mei at Borough Market in London and wasn't disappointed! I found out about this delicious spot while watching Uncle Roger YouTube videos.
If it's your first time then definitely get the Hainanese Chicken. It was superb. The rice was also cooked to perfection.
Also I accidentally ordered three dishes as opposed to two. Chef Liz was nice enough to give us a refund. Thank you, Chef!
Pro-tip: Vegetarian? No problem. You have a tofu option. 😁
Had to try this after seeing it on Uncle Roger’s YouTube channel years ago, now that I’m here in London.
The chicken rice was even better than some of those I’ve had in Singapore. A little on the pricey side, but if I was living here long term, I would definitely have this often.
It is already difficult to find a Singaporean kopitiam almost anywhere in the US or in the UK so I am grateful that this business exists! The food is excellent because you can do a lot with it! You can mix it up with the sauces given to you, or just eat the ingredients separately and it will still taste good, although I would highly recommend mixing things up because that is how one is supposed to do it.
This is my second time having the Hainanese chicken rice and I thought it was amazing, especially with the spicy sauce which I was fairly certain was sriracha mixed with something else and I enjoyed it very much! The chicken and the rice together tasted good without the sauce and there was a good amount of chicken, so there will be a place for various kinds of Hainanese chicken rice lovers!
And the nasi lemak, which is a Malaysian dish, what can I say, it's such a good dish by itself that there's just very little room to mess it up, and Mei Mei had some amazing nasi lemak! I know Auntie Liz had her own sambal recipe and I think it works very well because mixing the sambal up with everything makes the entire dish better. My fried egg was slightly cooked unevenly but that didn't interfere with how good the dish tasted.
In addition, meeting Auntie Liz today made me so nervous but I tell you, she was so easy-going and I was honestly just glad to have talked to her at all!
Didn't expect the Standard of chicken rice to be so high. I'm from Singapore 🇸🇬, having chicken rice once or twice a weeks is a common affair for most of us. Great job mei mei. Highly recommended place to get you chicken rice craving.
Surprisingly great food. We had the deep fried chicken and rice. It wasn't what I expected, but better. The thick and sweet soy sauce was a great surprise. Uncertain how they got the rice so flavorful, but they did.
They do have limited seating, which is a nice luxury. We enjoyed the karma cola, which was unexpectedly different.
They also had good quality sporks/chopsticks and hand sanitizer.
Way better than the over hyped paella place up the walk.
Cheers to uncle Roger and auntie Liz!
A must visit if you're going to the borough market. The chef/owner is Michelin starred chef and is worth the visit. I would say their sauces/chillii are on the sweeter side of what you can find from Malaysia/Singapore but the taste was still great. They have a very easy to access counter for you to place your order as well as a QR code to place your order, which minimise the line to order.
Uncle roger and Auntie Liz fans here!😂
Nasi lemak is wonderful!! The fried chicken on top is amazing. Seasoning on point and super crispy!!
Everything part of the Nasi lemak is made to perfection. The best food I had in my UK trip. Food so great that worth going to hospital!!!😂
But I’m sure it would be better if I can get extra MSG!!😂😂😂
Decent place to eat in Borough Market especially if looking for some Singaporean food. The chicken rice was great - good flavours and all the right accompaniements. Would love to have seen a Laksa or Prawn Har Mee on the menu but no luck. Plenty of other things to temp.
Came here for breakfast and had the Kaya toast set.The kaya toast was ok really, not that special, honestly wasn’t the same as I had in Singapore . We also came for dinner and had the Char Siu Pork and Hainanese Chicken, and both were delicious.
