Very tasty burger - went for a single this time but would probably go bigger next time. Need to come back and try everything on the menu đ€€
The staff were all extremely friendly and attentive, more so than most restaurants I've been to in London.
You can pay and split the bill by scanning a QR code on the table which is very handy.
As others have mentioned, the mini complimentary soft serve ice cream at the end is a nice touch.
We had brisket spring rolls, chicken nuggets, chips, burgers.
Everyone knows the Black Bear burgers are some of the best in the London, but what really surprised me me was how delicious the sides were! All the food was super impressive here. The vibe in here is also really good and the staff friendly and helpful. Drinks are good too!
Edit: I revisited last night and unfortunately our experience was significantly worse. All of our food came out cold and the service was really inattentive. Took me about 10 minutes trying to a waitresses attention. Music was also too loud. Therefore unfortunately is losing a star. The food is still great though.
The burger was so good here! Unfortunately they didnât have the Brisket Burger, so I went for the Miso Bacon Burger, but it was one of the best burgers Iâve had in London! The nuggets were a delicious starter too and finishing off with complimentary ice cream was a lovely touch. Recommend, but maybe for a lunch spot as menu options go quickly!
Definitely my new favourite burger place in London! I absolutely love their burgers in terms the quality of the meat and how itâs cooked. I always share fries and chicken nuggets with my friends when we go there and the portions are just right. And they serve icecream at the end which is really cute. Would 100% recommend.
Brisket burgers are elite! Itâs my go to burger and black bear. Price as a whole is very pricey but when you have a spare 20 youâve got to go here on an empty stomach, I promise you will not be disappointed. Also if youâre gluten intolerant I advise bringing your own burger buns and you can enjoy with your gluten friends.
Marlon is a fantastic guy! He has served me both times I have been. Very friendly, informative and helpful!! Great staff member to have :)
Dark Rum Punch cocktail is a winner. To start with we had the Buttermilk fried chicken wings with buffalo and blue cheese sauce and the brisket spring rolls, fried wonton with 12hr beer braised brisket smoked bacon and cheese with pickles garlic mayo and fresh chillies. Both were Excellent. For mains we both went for the Brisket burger dry aged beef, cheese, 12hr beer braised brisket, pink pickled onions and garlic mayo. I did add a 2nd dry aged beef patty to mine as I'm a big eater. The burgers were messy but Amazing. We should have only ordered one portion of fries between us as it was a lot of eating. The free miniature ice cream cones to finish are a really nice touch. Staff were helpful and friendly. If your in the area its well worth going.
I left black burger as a very happy customer who's belly was very fully And I can definitely say I'm going back again I liked the service I received and the food was really good also. The burger was cooked really well and the fries too as it's my first time trying it I had to double up on the burger. If your feeling to have some naughty food I would highly recommend trying this place out. The rum punch drink was really nice also just would have been nicer if they came in bigger glasses
Gotta admit, those burgers were something special. The brisket one was unique, dripping with flavour. And let's talk about those buns - soft, slightly sweet, and covered in sesame seeds. But for me, the winner was definitely the Black Bear Burger - it just hit all the right notes. Highly recommend and will come back for more!
Alright hear me now, after the long wait I finally made my appearance at the hyped black bear burger, said to have the BEST burgers in London. The last time I heard a restaurant had the best something in London, I was unfortunately disappointed. Nonetheless, I wished this time there would be a glimmer of hope and that it would be different. The service was amazing; a really friendly vibe to the place which took the culinary experience to another level. It was nice and cool in the restaurant, with plenty of seating for a hot summers day. They had a very efficient payment system which made it very easy to leave whenever you wanted which was good. They even blessed us with free ice cream at the end. In my opinion, I canât honestly say I had the best burger in Londonâthough in all fairness itâs going to take something really special for me to even consider calling anything the best in London. They had a very efficient payment system which made it very easy to pay and then leave when you want which was good. They even blessed us with free ice cream at the end. The whole meal came up to ÂŁ27.
Fries
These skin-on fries were pretty decent; good potato content and fluffy, too. They were as crispy as I expected but were definitely lacking some salt. There was a Five Guys-ness to them though not to the same level. Overall, they didnât feel like an inconvenience to eat which is definitely a positive. 6.5/10
Chicken nuggets
The highly praised nuggets were something I believed to be quite uniqueâespecially when it comes to a restaurant like thisâand the way they were made was quite different in itself. They were very well seasoned, the coating was crispy, and the chicken breast was cooked really well. The nuggets were accompanied with their blue cheese and buffalo sauce, which I wasnât really a fan of. For a total of ÂŁ7 they do give you a considerable amount of themâespecially given that theyâre only a side. I was a bit unsure about the seasoning of the nuggets, but ultimately, I enjoyed them. 6.7/10
Miso bacon burger
Itâs time for the main event: the burger. Now although the Miso bacon burger wasnât their signature one, I had read the description and was more intrigued to try it. It was ÂŁ12 for a single burger, but if you have the money for it I would advise you to double up. The patty was incredibly juicy, the sauce inside was very nice, and the onions were a great touch. The seeded bun was a good move for the sturdiness of it all, especially in the top one. The bottom bun, however, wasnât a match for the miso sauce; it left it slightly soggyâthough that wasnât enough to detract from the positives of the burger. I believe it could have been improved with some fresh iceberg lettuce, but I did enjoy it. 7.4/10
Overall culinary experience: 8/10

Thoroughly enjoyed the food and the staff. Went in at around 4:30pm on a Thursday and was a bit apprehensive to go in as there was no-one eating inside. Having seen the menu and the decent reviews online, we gave it a go and in the end, it was no surprise the quality of the food when it arrived at our table.
We had several items from the menu we expected to see from a burger restaurant such as loaded fries, buffalo wings and of course a burger, but was pleasantly surprised by the brisket spring rolls. The brisket is a key winner for the menu here and i can see why it's a part of both the loaded fries and the brisket burger we had. Pure, beefy flavour that elevated the dishes it came with. Saying that; I ate way too much before a gig at Brixton academy and just wanted to either sleep or go back for seconds!
I'll definitely be back!
Firmly believe this is the best burger in London, and every time I visit this is reconfirmed. I am always order the classic black bear burger which is cooked to your preference - the beef is soft, the bacon crispy and overall just a very balanced flavoursome burger. Iâd normally avoid brisket but the brisket spring rolls and delightful and the steakhouse fries with the habanero honey mayo are incredible, not spicy but great taste. The complimentary soft serve is quite literally the icing on top. A must visit!
I was starvin' like the proverbial Marvin and Brixton Market seemed appealing ( and nearby).Ordered and hey presto ! ... A dozen moments later me grub arrived.
The brisket burger is fab. Not cheap at ÂŁ14 but worth going large for another ÂŁ3.
It is luscious but the danger of it being slightly oily was I think real. Fries cost extra and we're lovely and hot but progressively more salty towards the bottom.
I think however my one and only gripe is that this place is in desperate need of a refresh . I can honestly say that if Pulp Fiction's basement scene is one of your favourites then this branch may just tickle your fancy. I think however you should know that the scene I am talking about is after Zed's dead.
Keep hope alive for a refresh.
Came here yesterday evening for dinner after seeing great things online about it and wasnât disappointed. We both ordered the âBlack Bearâ burger which was incredibly nice tasting. The beef was juicy and flavoursome and the whole burger was put together so well. I ordered the brisket spring rolls for my side which were quite quirky! Very rich in flavour, by the end of the burger I struggled to finish them but I did. My partner ordered the chips which were done really well too.
I had some fresh pickles with my spring rolls and we both put them into our burger too which made it just that bit better.
The complimentary ice cream with the bill was a sweet touch!
Only downsides is itâs a very small restaurant so thereâs no space to really put your coat/belongings other than the benches, or the floor if people are sitting by you.
And they didnât have a toilet. So thereâs nowhere to wash your hands before you eat, unless you wanna use the public toilets outside. Which are nasty haha.
One of the best burgers in town! The Miso burger flavour is unmissable and my 11 year old daughter absolutely loved the crunchy well seasoned chicken burger. We were also really impressed with the speed of service and had a good laugh with Vinny the friendly member of staff.
We went for the Thursday night steak night. We had rump steak and sirloin steak , both were so delicious.
We had our dinner for free from the team that day, and we really appreciated their kind offer.
Staff and food are both amazing, I would recommend giving their Brixton branch a visit.
Donât forget to order their chimichuri potatoes with parmesans, I think they are also one of their Thursday special.
The meat in the burgers was high quality and very fresh. I highly recommend you double up on the burger. The wings are also very good and flavourful. Service was amazing and the staff are very friendly, I will certainly be back and I highly recommend a visit.
I had to put the burger down after one bite and unscrew my face.
Haven't had a burger this nice in years. Ear genuinely thinking about the next time I'm in Brixton so I can come back. I had the Black Burger (medium rare) and it was perfection. Bacon wasn't salty or undercooked/overcooked. It was great. So good I'm reviewing before I've even left đ
