We requested a table for 3 for my mom’s birthday and got a lovely table at the dining room downstairs. The atmosphere was cozy and comfortable. The kitchen layout was great with glass doors allowing us to see the busy, dedicated behind-the-scene moments between chefs. We enjoyed the pasta dishes very much while drinking a nice bottle of Roma wine that the house sommelier recommended. Our host Christian was attentive, charming and very caring throughout the meal. Glasses were filled frequently , food served fast and prepared with care. The restaurant is squeaky clean. When the time came for dessert, Christian brought over two lovely dishes and brought the whole team to sing happy birthday to my mom. Overall, we had a great time and definitely would love to come back. Thank you Christian and the rest of the team for creating a memorable night for my family.
Service was very attentive and they were all very helpful. Pasta dishes were on the expensive side but the linguine with prawns was worth the money. Not convinced it's authentically Italian but all the dishes we tried had a bit of twist which I found really pleasant!
Baccala’ had been recommended to me by a friend so during my last trip to London I decided to try it out.
The restaurant was very busy, oozing with good vibes. A look around revealed patrons enjoying their experience, which further raised my expectations.
I tried the Oyster of the “day”, from Ireland, the pentolaccia with Chitarrine pasta and seafood and the almond panda cotta.
The oysters were amazing: super fresh, meaty and tasty just like I like them. They were accompanied by a slice of lemon and a spicy sauce. The ensemble of flavors was a winning combination. Despite the portion of 6 pieces, they were so tasty that I ordered another portion.
The pasta was excellent. Perfectly cooked and with great amount of seafood, again very tasty. The portion was perfect, especially since it is egg pasta that can be quite filly.
The final note of this great culinary journey was strung by a beautifully presented panna cotta, featuring a delicate blend of flavors. A truly artsy and delicious combination.
Each serving was paired with a different type of wine after the recommendation of the host Fabio, who made sure -along with the very attentive Christian and the rest of the team- that everything was perfect. The Chef Moreno also came to greet and make sure everything was matching my expectations.
The atmosphere was another highlight of the evening. The staff goes above and beyond to make sure you will leave with a smile and great memories and that shows in how cheerful everybody was.
All in all a really fun evening and a great experience. I will definitely come back and unreservedly recommend this place.
Decent Mediterranean restaurant with classic Italian dishes on the menu, great wine menu and friendly staff.
The restaurant is situated directly on Bermondsey High Street, which is totally lively and vibrant - a joy seeing people walk by whilst enjoying food and wine.
The appetisers (Tuna Tartare) was incredibly, paired with asparagus, which turns out to be a fantastic combination. The mains (tagliatelle with saffron and mushrooms and linguine with prawns) were quite bland and served at room temperature, which was not enjoyable but the head waiter immediately took the dishes back to the kitchen and returned them hot very quickly. They also gave excellent white and red wine recommendations. The tiramisu for dessert was also very tasty.
Will definitely go back and enjoy the wonderful neighborhood that Bermondsey is alongside the good overall package this restaurant has to offer, albeit at a rather upper-end price point.
This is the best restaurant I’ve ever visited in London! The bread, oysters, tuna, pasta and tiramisu…everything was very delicious. We want to come here every single week from now on if it’s possible😘Definitely we are coming back for the tasting menus very soon. Gokce is SO AMAZING, see you soon x
We had a fantastic dinner here! The food is fabulous and the staff here is so friendly! We would definitely go back again 🥳💕
One of the best Italian restaurant in London!Cosy atmosphere, fantastic food and friendly and knowledgable staff!
Great food but will have to give 4 stars due to very cold air coming in from the door, which wasn’t closing properly as it was damaged. Sitting on the high chairs next to the doors is not recommended!
We tried spicy tuna steak, pasta with black pepper and baby octopus with Italian northern white wine. It was delightful and the dishes were tastefully surprising as they didn't taste like typical Italian style seafood dishes. Sourghdough breads with olive oil that we selectively choose were delicious as well. Simple yet flavorful taste...
We could understand why this place had high review. Also Fred helped us alot choosing the best wine and olive oil that went really well with the dishes we ordered- highly recommend this place and we will be back here again. We gave 4 stars though as portion was smaller than we expected....
We went to Baccalà for dinner and really enjoyed the atmosphere. The food was authentic, fresh and delicious. They make the baccalà mantecato which is both on the day menu and the dinner menu and probably the best baccalà mantecato I’ve had.
They have accommodated our 2 years old kid on a Friday night and no need to order anything special for the kids as the roasted monkfish on the bone was a superb option! We had their homemade pasta with seafood. And I really mean seafood! Their new addition artichoke lasagna with carb and lobster was also great. The portions are huge so the prices are very reasonable as well. The limoncello affogato was my perfect ending for my sweet tooth.
I cannot recommend this place enough! Such a warm and welcoming environment!
One of the best Italian restaurant around :)
My 2nd time here didn’t disappoint at all. Food was so tasty with a stunning presentation. 1 order was wrong but all the team was so apologetic and went above and beyond to sort. Thank you for the wonderful food and service.
You’ll have me back again :) I have to get to the cod that ran out on both my visits.
Average to good taste, average price and portions for this style of restaurant.
Came with friends, tried some of the appetisers and pasta, including the octopus.
Think the pastas were good, don't have good memory of what the others were so probably not as good.
Also tried the olive oil tasting, the one we chose had an interesting spice.
Really nice restaurant!
We had a reservation on a Friday night, the concept is around fish and wine. We took a bottle of wine for which the waitress gave us really nice advice. We also go for the bread and olive oil that was super good (you can choose your oil from a list and we follow the waitress recommendations).
The meal was really good and we finished by a tiramisu.
The atmosphere is nice but a bit noisy as tables are closed and the room is narrow.
I recommend that restaurant even if it is a bit pricy but the food and wine are really good.
This review is based solely on the olive oil tasting. We stopped in mid afternoon to do the tasting. The restaurant was quiet as it would be between lunch and dinner, and we did not eat anything. The service was great and included nice touches like complimentary house sparkling water. For the tasting you buy a portion of bread, and it comes with one olive oil, and you can add more from the selection of 7 oils at £3 per oil. This is one of the few restaurants where olive oil is showcased. The 3 we tried were excellent. Two of them were blends and one was a single varietal. They were from different parts of Italy and they were presented nicely with background information by the chef (owner?). My only criticism would be that the very nice sourdough bread actually has a strong flavour which does not always agree with the oils. A milder bread would allow the oil flavours to stay at the forefront. If you are eating at this restaurant and you don't know much about olive oil, do yourself a flavour and learn what good olive oil tastes like! If you are already an aficionado of olive oil, then you will be in heaven 😁
We did try some wines. The chardonnay by the glass was excellent and tells me that they probably have a very good wine list. Given the opportunity, I think I would definitely eat at Baccalà.
Amazing wine bar/ restaurant on Bermondsey Street. If you are around London Bridge, it is the place to go at anytime of the day.
The whole experience from start to finish is great! The waitress were so friendly and kind. The food can’t get better and the prices are fair for the portion size.
A great spot to get great wine as well. They serve wine and fresh oysters all day long as well as their signature dishes. The wine list is really special and on top everything they sell all their wines for retail prices. So basically they are a wine shop with very reasonable prices. We had a bottle of the new addition white wine Ciro from Campania, and it complimented our dinner perfectly.
Everything was de-li-cious. Highly recommended.
Very friendly service, delicious food and nice atmosphere! The food was so good, shared the bread basket and burrata as a starter and then had the prawn pasta (which was a massive portion). My friend had a vegetarian pasta dish and we shared a tiramisu. We also had a bottle of white wine and lots of sparkling water, altogether was £140.
Staff is attentive and helpful.
They offer various options of olive oil, which I found cool and different to other restaurants.
Went there for lunch and had the best oyster I’ve ever had in 2022! The octopus and calamari were spectacular 🤤 Staff were very friendly and gave on point recommendations for white wine pairing as well. Regret I didn’t try the tiramisu, will def visit again!!
Visited again after three months away and the food again superb. Highly recommended.
Had the most beautiful, fresh and delicious oysters aperitif with the sweet delicate flavours of Carlingford and the Cornish oysters with Proseco . Great combination and a good price. Had the classic octopus to follow mixed with peppers and salad. A must go place for seafood at reasonable price. The wine was great too served with in depth knowledge by FABIO. Highly recommended.
