Chef Shaun Presland has a huge following in Australia after impressing everyone with the Sake group of restaurants there. Now it's our turn to be impressed. Pacific is definitely worth a visit (or several). It's a beautiful restaurant with an open kitchen that contributes to the inviting warmth and ambiance of the place. We were 4 for dinner on a Thursday and the restaurant was quite full. Considering it only opened recently, you will want to book a table in advance. The food was some of the best I've had in a long time. We tried most of the menu 😊 Everything was excellent but the highlights were the monkfish katsu sando, the kimchi brussel sprouts (say what?!) and the robata grilled hiramasa kingfish. Actually, I'd be sabotaging your experience if I didn't mention that the sushi was phenomenal as was the hiramasa kingfish jalapeno yuzu pepper. Many of the ingredients are imported from Australia and the wine list is all Australian wines. We were impressed with the chardonnay we had, so we had a 2nd bottle 🙈 I think Pacific is just the beginning of what Shaun has in store for us, and I for one, am very excited to experience more.
PS. A bonus for those of you that read to the end of this review... the wagyu gyoza are to die for!
Came as a group of ten and pretty much ordered a bit everything. Could not fault the chef, every dish was prepared and cooked to the highest standards. Friendly waiters and they took the time to explain what is being served as they are being served. The pacing of food given was good considering the large order. Highly recommend the wagyu steak and sashimi salad and chocolate fondant, they stole the show for me.
Fabulous food by Australian Masterchef Shaun Presland in his new restaurant in London. This is a contemporary Japanese restaurant, specialising in market-fresh sashimi, grilled fish and Pacific-region wine.
We let the chef choose our dishes and every one was a winner.
Starting with a Chirashi salad which is assorted sashimi slices, salad, soba noodles, tempura crunch and a yuzu dressing. With that we had the Kimchi brussel sprouts which is the best way I have had them, roasted with a Korean spicy vinaigrette. The 3rd dish was Shiitake mushroom and creamy potato croquettes with a panko crumb and miso truffle mayonnaise.
Next up was a mixed sashimi platter of Salmon, Kingfish, Seabass & Tuna and the freshness as good as you get in Japan.
Mains were a Spicy Wagyu Goyza and a Wagyu steak cooked on the Robata grill and served with 3 sauces - BBQ dressing, wasabi & chimi-churi. Together with another outstanding dish the Miso tooth-fish, similar to Black Cod done in a kyoto saikyo miso marinade.
To finish we had the perfect Chocolate fondant with a mandarin orange ice cream.
WInes are from the Pacific-region and we had an excellent Tasmanian House of Arras sparkling wine.
Super friendly service and a great place to eat when in the Regent St / Mayfair area with good prices.
Very nice place. The food was excellent. We took a selection and loved every dish. The service was very good and polite. The dishes arrived at the right pace. Good drink selection including small brewery craft beer. The place itself is warm and welcoming with a nice decor.
Japanese restaurant with Australian actitude cuisine directed by Shaun presland making a mix of healthy and exotic tastes with sake! I really recommend it and the decoration and lights are beautifuls.
The service is very attentive and careful.
We had an excellent time at Pacific. The atmosphere, service and setting are all fantastic, and the food itself was the best Japanese cuisine we’ve ever experienced. All of the dishes were expertly prepared, the wagyu steak was amazing! Cannot recommend this place highly enough, we’ll be back again soon.
Great dinner at Pacific with friends. Delicious, fresh and interesting food, with excellent Aussie wine selection to accompany it all. Relaxed atmosphere with super friendly and helpful staff (which seems rare in London these days!)
Would go back for the chocolate fondant and blood orange sorbet alone!
Let’s hope this place becomes more than just a pop-up. Highly recommend a visit whilst you can.
Wow! When you walk into a pop-up you’re never sure what you’re going to get, but the restaurant & experience was first class! From the friendly & professional staff, to the classy & stylish decor, to the interesting & creative menu and of course the presentation & taste of the amazing food. Shaun has used all of his experience & ability to make this the best sushi restaurant in London! Fully recommend a visit.
Welcoming and vibrant atmosphere, staff were attentive and kept the food / drinks flowing. Ultimately the food was sensational. A large table of people took control of the music for the night, fortunately they had good taste. Would I go again - definitely. Best dish - Nigiri Bluefin Tuna
Wow. Just wow. Absolutely amazing food. The Toothfish is probably the nicest fish dish I've ever eaten. The mushroom croquettes were excellent! Been twice already, can't wait to go back! Highly recommend to all!
We had an amazing time at Pacific. It has a great atmosphere and very friendly staff who can't do enough to help you. The food is delicious, especially the Wagyu steak and the Chocolate Fondant desert was unbelievably good! We will definetely be coming back again.
Brilliant restaurant - best sushi I have had in a long time and the Wagyu steak was cooked perfectly. Atmosphere is cosy and staff are very welcoming. Aussie touches make it a nice change to your regular London restaurant. Already booked to go back for my birthday.
I had an amazing day/evening at Pacific with friends. It has a relaxed atmosphere, the food was out of this world, the staff were friendly and attentive, they talked us through the menu, which has contemporary twist on Japanese cuisine. I would highly recommend this Resturant, it’s a must if you are visiting London.
Absolute gastronomical experience! Compliments to the Chef - always - as everything that arrives at the table is just delightful! My favourites include the Kingfish Katsu, Prawn Shumai, Bluefin tuna nigiri and Mushroom Ceviche...but with eeni meeni miini moh you will still be guaranteed something tasty and amazing! Thanks for a great experience.
Amazing food with a friendly relaxed atmosphere. Highlights on the menu were the wagu steak, prawn shumai and chocolate fondant, will definitely be returning to Pacific on the next trip to London!
Great restaurant across the board. Excellent flavours put together in a unique way, coupled with wonderful service. Some of the best Blue fin tuna sushi Iv had. Would highly recommend!
I've been to Pacific a few times now and it never disappoints. Lovely cosy atmosphere, gorgeous food (prawn shumai and sushi were to die for!) and excellent drinks, all making a great evening out. Will definitely come back!
