From the moment you step inside, the vibrant ambiance and warm hospitality transport you to a tropical paradise. The staff's knowledge and enthusiasm for the cuisine are evident, as they are more than willing to guide you through the menu, ensuring a delightful experience for both seasoned Sri Lankan food enthusiasts and newcomers alike.
Really tasty food & fantastic location. I’ve had both brunch & dinner there & was really impressed.
Loved their house chai & their twist on eggs. Reasonable prices & good service. Indoor & outdoor seating. Suitable for wheelchair access, but toilets are downstairs.
Loved it!! The food was incredible, so tasty. The prawns were perfection. Loved the setting and the team were lovely, one of the waiters in particular was so helpful telling us about the menu and was just a lovely happy chap. Can’t wait to come back
Kolamba Sri Lankan Restaurant in Soho is a culinary gem that takes your taste buds on an unforgettable journey through the vibrant and diverse flavors of Sri Lanka. From the moment I stepped inside, I knew I was in for a treat.
Ambiance: The restaurant boasts a warm and inviting atmosphere with its cozy seating and tasteful decor. It's perfect for both intimate dinners and lively gatherings with friends. The staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and eager to help navigate the menu.
Food: Oh, the food! Kolamba's menu is a celebration of Sri Lankan cuisine, and each dish is a masterpiece. The starters, like the crispy Hoppers and flavorful Cutlets, set the stage for a memorable dining experience. The highlight for me was the array of curries. Whether you prefer seafood, meat, or vegetarian options, there's something for everyone. The Black Pork Curry was a standout, with its rich and spicy flavors that left me craving more.
Drinks: The drink menu complements the food beautifully. Don't miss the opportunity to pair your meal with a refreshing one of their exotic cocktails / mocktails.
Price: While Kolamba offers a high-quality dining experience, it's also a little on the higher side for Soho. The portion sizes could be more generous.
In conclusion, Kolamba Sri Lankan Restaurant in Soho is a must-visit for anyone seeking an authentic and memorable culinary adventure. The diverse flavors, warm ambiance, and friendly staff make it an exceptional dining destination. I can't wait to return and explore more of their tantalizing menu offerings. Be sure to make a reservation, as this place tends to get quite busy, and rightly so!

We visited this place twice. The food is great. We ordered the papaya salad, the prawns, the aubergines, the breadfruit, rice, plain hoppers, the dahl and the roti. The best ons were the aubergines - delicious! The plain hoppers are very tasty as well. Would definitely recommend. Try to book in advance though as the space is limited.
Very interesting place to get exotic Sri Lankan food, definitely a good adventure!
The food has pretty strong flavor, but in a good way! It kind of remind me of Indian food but with different spices. All the dishes are really good! The Dahl with hopper is just so tasty!
One small thing is that the restaurant makes you feel like in a rush. They have 3 different waitresses coming to ask us to leave the table at 1.5 hr sharp. This is such a pity as the dining experience has been amazing until then.
We loved this restaurant! We had a huge feast of Sri Lankan food. Everything tasted delicious, the pork, chicken and beef curries were tender and so flavoursome. The string hoppers, the egg hopper and the rotis, were the perfect combination for the curries, and the dessert we tried perfect to conclude the meal.
Service was great and even we were there on a Friday, it was busy but we could talk, and we were not rushed.
Highly recommended!
Delicious food especially auntie mo’s chatti roast (the far dish in photo) - i would only wish that they made this into a main size portion rather than starter as it was small. Waitresses were helpful recommending dishes . It was nice to try some sri lankan food for the first time! I suppose all i would say is that portions are a little small.
Delicious, authentic food! We ate most of the vegetarian options on the brunch menu- it was delicious and reasonably priced. Spicy without being too hot. The string hoppers with the egg curry, baby jackfruit curry and coconut custard dessert were especially good! Lovely atmosphere and service. I’ll definitely be coming back!
The food was incredible. Great recommendation on how much to order. Really enjoyed it and can’t wait to try the rest of the menu.
I was so surprised that the staff offered me the birthday surprise!! The birthday ice cream was amazing. It was wonderful night served by hospitality staffs and the food was absolutely delicious.I really enjoyed it. Hope see you soon.
Really nice ambience, lovely staff and tasty food..loved the mutton, beef and chicken curry…hoppers reminded me of my moms cooking ..it’s a good place to have a nice meal❤️
Exceptional flavour! Being a big fan of Hoppers, I had high expectations for the food at Kolamba but it definitely did not disappoint!
The vibe here is more small plates / sharing dishes style so would highly recommend coming here in a bigger group so that you can try more! The price point is a little more than expected and the main dishes are around the £10-20 price point (if eating alone, you'd definitely need at least one starter, one main and a side to fill you up).
On a side note- there's a good variety of seating here. From large tables for groups to small bench seating for solo diners. Outdoor dining also available but the restaurant in general is "open" anyways.
Highlight dishes for me were the breadfruit curry (never tried breadfruit before but was pleasantly surprised) and the mango and papaya salad was delicious! Note for non-spice eaters: the food is spicy (I'd say moderate). It took us by surprise as there were no indicators on the menu but we love spicy food so really enjoyed it.
Although service was good, there was a few things that are worth noting.. Our drinks came after our starter dishes and both were prepacked drinks. The other odd thing was that they couldn't serve post-dinner tea as they had 'no hot water'.
Another thing I noticed was that everything in the kitchen was super organised. Very impressed with all the labelled boxes of dry ingredients and the stacked pans on the shelf. Impressive!
Would definitely come back again and highly recommend if you are looking for delicious Sri Lankan food!
Good Sri Lankan cuisine - we came on New Year's Eve and got a complimentary glass of prosecco which was a nice touch.
I think the hoppers could be improved, they were quite bland - other than that, the curry dishes were bursting with flavour and spice.
Note the recommended amount of dishes at the top of the menu is far more than you need, the waitress pointed this out and was definitely correct!
First time having Sri Lankan food and now it won’t be the last! The food here was so delicious and the wait staff were very nice. A little hectic sitting right by the front door, but otherwise incredible!
Came across this restaurant randomly as our plan to visit a different restaurant got cancelled. I'm so glad I stumbled upon this gem!
The lady at the door seated us downstairs which was sooooo nice! The ambience made me feel like I was on a date but without a man 🤣. Really loved the waiters as they were so accommodating, polite, helpful and ever so cheerful. The diversity and energy was everything and I was here for it! We really paid attention to the small details.
The food was absolutely delicious made me feel like I was eating my mama's cooking. I've never tried Sri Lankan food but this hit the right spot. Meat was very soft, tender and succulent. Full of delicious flavours.
Whoever was in charge of the playlist!!! Guuurl or boiiiiiiii! It was giving! 🎤💃🏾 You need a pay rise! Lol we wanted to get up and dance with all the bangers played! Haha!
P.s For the Muslims... we were surprised that some of the things on the menu was halal since we planned to have a vegetarian dinner (a lot of selections). Do check out the H on the menu you can also ask the staff just to be sure. 😊
Ate at Kolamba with my two daughters at 2.30 on a Saturday afternoon. Was slightly surprised not to find it full so we had a choice of a nice outside table or inside. It filled up whilst we were there.
We had some excellent egg hoppers along with cuttlefish, pineapple beans and three mains (chicken, beef and prawns). The prawns were the only one we wouldn’t repeat. Washed down with some rose and followed by three very rich chocolate mousses it was a very good lunch. Around £150 for the three of us, very tasty really good food. Thoroughly recommended.
Service and atmosphere are great. Food is generally great here but didn't like eggplant starter - was too tarty. Would definitely come back to try the other dishes!
