Just for being what it is. The Victoria is a proper friendly community pub with the boss outside peeling spuds. Cold tasty beer including a couple from the cask. Wonderful service provided by the young lady at the bar (maybe waiting for her turn to peel the tatties). A great, simple eastend boozer with a smile on its face. A great place for a drink. The extra photo is one of the wartime iron stretchers now turned into railings nearby, bet every one has a story to tell!
A local pub with lots of character. Best fish and chips ever. Best meat and ale pie. Meals prepared fresh everyday. Lovely atmosphere, very friendly and welcoming. Also, a film favorite location. A must.
Cosy local pub, tucked away off the main street. Food, drinks and service are all top notch. Really has that unmisakable atmosphere of a village pub you were longing for - right in the centre of London!
I bit more expensive than your usual pub, but is definitely worth it.
My friend and I were visiting from the US and stumbled upon this place. We were treated like longtime friends even as tourists, and had such a good experience that we went back for a second visit during our trip.
Highly recommend this amazing spot. I'll definitely be returning the next time I'm in London, even if I'm staying on the other side of the city.
The legend that is @lostpintproject (You should give him a follow if you don't already) introduced me to this stunning boozer on his Christmas Pub Crawl with some of the top pub enthusiasts in all of London town.

Now back to the pub The Victoria is all what you want from a backstreet boozer; a friendly bunch of locals, great bar staff and a setting that oozes character.
I was so comfortable there I even filmed a whack yourself wednesday of me sampling a lovely pint of @harveysbrewery Sussex Best.
You have also got the brucey bonus of a fantastic cider menu on offer.
My handy tip is if you’re looking for a pub after delving into the beer mile consider going to the Victoria as its a great equaliser and delivers on what a public house should be.
Great traditional pub. Brilliant selection of cider. The Lilley's Lemon and Lime cider was beautiful. Very friendly bar peeps who couldn't do enough for you. Highly recommended.
Arrived after work with some colleagues, there was a cider festival on. Delicious range of local and not so local ciders on top of their normal bar offering. Very beautiful old pub with a Great atmosphere. Definitely recommend.
Thanks to Pat, we had great evening!
The food and service was very good.
When you are in the neighbourhood, you should come here.
The ideal local public house.
You will not find all the beers of the world but for sure a nice ale and even a non alcoholic beer that resembled to tough challenge last friday evening.
Food is good.
Prices are fair.
Place is quiet.
Nice friendly atmosphere.
Absolutely delicious. The staff is super kind (and funny) and the food is great. We ordered the steak&ale pie that was DELICIOUS (I recommend the mash over the chips)and the gravy is really good. The place feels safe, the staff has masks, they have antibacterial gel at the entrance, the toilets are clean and the space is wide. I highly recommend it!!
Edit: Shepherd's pie is absolutely delicious too, highly recommended
Just came in on the red eye and was looking for a great plate of food with a laid back vibe and friendly people. I was a mere 15 minute walk from The Victoria but after countless hours of travel I was wondering if I should settle for something closer - I decided NO. The Victoria is all that is right and good and what I needed to turn myself around.
Walked in to a quiet and friendly pub and asked if we could have lunch (it was a little late) and was told of course! Pat advised on what they were cooking today courtesy of Trisha and it was a steak pie - put us in for two! We were asked how hungry we were and candidly...we were starving. Enjoyed a lovely cider and struck up conversation with Alan while the food was prepared. The plate of food when it arrived was quite possibly the most beautiful thing I have ever seen - and it tasted even better. The steak was so tender, the gravy so rich, the chips that I know are handmade were crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside.
Had another round before we walked home for a much needed shower and nap, however the walk home seemed ever so much easier and pleasant after a fantastic meal with friendly people. We are in this part of London for a couple of more days and I cannot wait to go back. Thanks for having us!
We came across this brilliant pub this lunchtime & it was perfect. They had just what we wanted - pie, veg & chips (homemade) & excellent cider (No Bull). Friendly landlord, excellent quality, and fair prices. Will be back!
This is a such a good ol’ pub. Exceptional hospitality from Paula, hand-cut chips from Pat in a traditional British dish, old woodwork on the walls, slow music paying..enough said. That’s what a pub is.
My son and I were on holiday from the states and came across this gem when strolling through Bermondsey the day after we attended a Milwall football match. It is an unpretentious pub without all the tourist trappings. Just what we were looking for! We went in and were greeted by Pat the bartender and gent named Mark who was a long-time patron of the pub. The two of them commenced to make us feel like one of the gang and not at all the "colonials" that we were. The food was spot on! We had classic fish and chips and the Beef pie. Both were excellent and the portion sizes were generous. I'll be going back to this gem when I next get to London.
This is a heritage pub that is more of a community centre then just a pub. it is friendly, warm ,welcoming, the staff are amazing, the food is excellent, the cheesy chips are to die for, and is an asset to the area. My running club loves to use this pub because of the warm welcome we receive every time we run from there.
Proper Pub. Great traditional atmosphere Inside. Great choice of drinks. Nice outdoor seating to watch the world go by.
The quintessential neighborhood pub! And amazing home made crisps!
Proper pub where regulars and newcomers are treated with respect.
Pat, the landlord, is very welcoming and always seems keen to share stories and impart local wisdom.
What a cracking pub. Everything a pub should be. Great mix of characters from all walks of life. Staff are so friendly. Beer cold. Music good. Can't wait to go back
