Nice food, the prawns curry is a must have! A bit smaller than what it looks like on photos but the service and food were great.Bathrooms were clean too & the staff were respectful. Only that we waited slightly longer for our food but a great service all the same.

An amazing culinary experience! The drinks were amazing, with a variety of unusual but tasty drinks next to usual favourites. The food was delicious and not over spicy as some Indian restaurants offered. I was able to enjoy the different non spicy herbs and spices of indo continent in the food. There were many waiters and hosts on the restaurant floor to cater to our needs. The staff were flexible, pleasant and friendly. The atmosphere was outgoing, urban chic. The decorations were modern and gorgeous. I was delighted with thus restaurant.

Lovely, moody, relaxing atmosphere. I would say the tables that are against the kitchen need to be careful as my head was level with the window edge and had to remember to not relax back and bang my head on it. Personally I think the starters were better than the main. The chilli paneer was so good! And we thoroughly enjoyed the chaat as well. We had a lamb cutlet which was juicy and nice. Chicken briyani was aesthetically pleasing as it had a puff pastry pie cover which the server then broke for us to reveal the biriyani but taste wise it was OK. The saag aloo we were excited about but it was a bit bland, maybe some chilli's would have given it more flavour. It was nice and we ate it with the garlic naan but we wouldn't have missed out if we hadn't ordered it. Portions wise we shared it all amongst 3 of us and we were full by the end of it and had to take home the leftovers. Mainly the saag was left behind! I have heard great things about the aldgate branch? So maybe the food is better there or maybe it was just what we ordered today happened to be off. But I think for the prices I wouldn't say taste wise it was value for money. On the other hand the other customers seemed to be happy and enjoying their food!

Superb South Asian food. Been to many an Asian restaurant, this one is one of the best. Top dishes: chaat, pepper, prawns, lamb paratha, lamb buriyani. Sam the waiter was amazing. And hats off to the head chef.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at 1947, an Indian restaurant, and it was a truly memorable experience. I opted for the set menu, and I must say that every dish was a delightful culinary journey. The standout dish for me was the Khas Lamb Shank. It was an absolute treat for the taste buds. The lamb was exceptionally tender and literally fell off the bone with each bite. The flavors were rich and aromatic, showcasing the skillful use of spices that are synonymous with Indian cuisine. It was a truly satisfying and indulgent dish that left me craving for more. Another highlight of the set menu was the Gajar Halwa Tart. This dessert was a unique twist on a traditional Indian sweet. The combination of the rich and creamy Gajar Halwa (carrot pudding) filling with the flaky tart crust was simply divine. It was a harmonious blend of textures and flavors, and the presentation was as impressive as the taste. The overall dining experience at 1947 was delightful. The ambiance was elegant, creating a pleasant and comfortable atmosphere. The service was attentive and the staff was knowledgeable, providing recommendations and ensuring that our dining experience was enjoyable. If you are looking for an Indian restaurant that offers a refined dining experience and flavors that will transport you to the heart of India, I highly recommend 1947. The Khas Lamb Shank was a standout dish, showcasing the expertise of the chefs, and the Gajar Halwa Tart was a unique and delicious dessert that added a delightful twist to the meal. It's definitely a restaurant worth visiting for an unforgettable culinary experience. I would like to add that while the food at 1947 was indeed exceptional, I must mention a discrepancy regarding the seating arrangement. When we made the reservation, we specifically requested a semi-private area as we were told that it would be available. However, upon arrival, we were disappointed to find that the seating we were promised was not provided. Although this did not directly impact the quality of the food, it is worth mentioning as it affected our overall experience. While the staff was friendly and accommodating, the miscommunication regarding the seating arrangement was a letdown.

We thoroughly enjoyed our meal at this restaurant! Despite some recent reviews from people who are clearly never happy & hard to please… we really liked the effort that has been put into the décor, with low lighting and soft music creating a nice ambience. The service was efficient and quick but for us the star of the show was the amazing food! Thoroughly enjoyed everything we had but with particular mention of the Samosa Chaat starter and the Signature Coconut Prawns main course which were both amazing. It was all washed down with their great cocktails. If we had any minor suggestion for improvement, it would be limited to perhaps serving traditional full size freshly cooked poppadoms rather the mini variety, other than that we loved it all! Thanks Ajay and rest of the team at 1947. Will be recommending to all family and friends!

Lovely ambience, delicious food and great staff! We had our pre-new year's eve dinner last night, we were 14 (including kids) all vegetarian and had almost all the dishes (starters, mains, desserts) and every dish was delicious. As it is in central London so prices are on higher side but they gives you quality food and awesome service so no complaints. I totally forgot to ask the girl's name, who served us...she was very attentive and friendly.

My friends highly suggested this restaurant and i’m really happy with experience. Both hospitality and food are really amazing. I want to specially mention about the waiter who helped us find spicy dishes from the menu. The only thing i was not happy is, per person we have to spend at least 60 pounds (policy by the restaurant).

1947London has to be one of the best restaurants I’ve been to in a while. The service was incredible, we had the manager and other staff members come and check up on us and engaging in conversation every so often. It felt as if we were well taken care of. The interior of the restaurant is really cool. Our table was placed right in front of the kitchen so we could see how the food was made. We didn’t have to wait that long for food, and I have to say it was incredible. My favourite was the Okra dish. I highly recommend getting this if you come here with some of the butter naan, it’ll be the best thing you have ever tasted. I would definitely come here again. 5/5 Stars!

It’s by far the best restaurant I have visited while touring London as a solo traveler. The interior decoration was awesome and the presence of DJ made the atmosphere really electric. The quality of food and the deserts were outclass. Chicken biryani was delicious and the dessert was very tasty. Staff was very friendly and welcoming. All the waiters and waitresses were trained very well and always had a smile on their face. Receptionist was very helpful and was doing a great job. I would love to come 1947 again and again whenever I visit London.

WOW! Everything here was very good, aside from the server forgetting to take my main course order. Food was absolutely delicious with some extra drama and excitement thrown in here and there with the coconut curry presentation and gold leaf. Loved the cocktails. Very good Indian food and lovely restaurant atmosphere.

On a holiday in London. I'm glad I've visited the best restaurant 1947 on my birthday . Amazing food and awesome staff. You have to try out the chaat platter and flaming prawns. And they have some amazing cocktails to try out too. Keep up the good Job guys.

I spent a lovely evening with my workmates at this beautiful restaurant in the heart of Fitztrovia. I love Indian food and the way it was served was absolutely stunning. The service was great, attentive and very organised. The food tasted delicious, a little too spicy, but this is the basics of Indian cousing, isn't it?
