THE MOOD: After a day of shopping in Westfield Shepherds bush you soon work up an appetite and luckily there are a number of places to eat. The food court however seems to have suffered of late and not really a comfortable place to drop the shopping and have a nice relaxed meal. The nandos here is large but the queues also the same so best to head out to the range of shops on the walkway.
The Mandaloun is located outside just opposite House of Fraser and serves up traditional Lebanese food and you can also have Sihsa outside which has grown in popularity.
“The decor is nothing too special and it was a cold day out but also cold inside for some reason. So something for the management to maybe look into.”
THE FOOD: There is a lot of choice from the menu so I would love to go back to sample more of the menu.
We started with the Falafel [Crispy deep fried balls of ground chickpeas, broad beans, celery, garlic, coriander, red and green pepper], which is a good way to test any Lebanese restaurant as its a staple item so you can gauge whats to come. You get 4 pieces which arrived in good time, came to the table warm and had a crispy coating. Just perfectly cooked with a good traditional taste but not too dry and not spicy so suitable for all.
To complement we also had the Kebbeh Halabieh [Lamb meatballs mixed with cracked wheat stuffed with minced meat, onions and pine nuts. Deep fried], translated these are dry lamb Meatballs, again you get a reasonable portion of 4 but quite large and both well spiced and meaty taste. I would recommend these.
Had the Mixed grill with rice [Selection of grilled skewers: lamb, shish taouk, and kaftah marinated in special sauce with mustard], The chicken and lamb were well marinated and nice charcoal taste (but not burnt) and not dry with great fresh flavour. The kebab was also really nice and all in all a well put together dish with a good selection.
You also get a good selection of dips with the chilli sauce worth a mention. You get a little kick of spicy but works well with all the dishes and not too spicy so just right for all. Another good test of a good Lebanese is the chilli sauce and the right sauce can be the make or break…
THE DRINK: Virgin Mandaloun - Non alcoholic passion fruit cocktail. Sweet and I really liked this refreshing drink but I must ask for a lot less ice in the future as you get a few good sips and it is soon all over…..
THE VERDICT: The meal came in at £50.00 and I am surprised to the read the somewhat negative reviews as I was happy with the food and yes service was a little slow but the staff were friendly and happy to help. I have yet to try the other restaurants available but this was a good start and would recommend eating here and hopefully over time will be able to bring you a review of more dishes as well as more restaurants in the shopping complex. By the way the menu prices on the website are not accurate and have gone up, just to bear that in mind.
I normally come here for small bites, tea and shisha. The shisha has good amount of flavour but it’s quite strong so can be overbearing. Not too sure why the score is so low but I always enjoy.
We went for a late lunch and had the set menu for 2. The starters were delicious especially the Hummos and Mutabal. The tabuli was of an average taste. Kebbe and cheese pastries were hot and nice. I recommend the Shawarma meat or the chop lambs for the main dish. Chicken tawook was chewing yet well marinated. The staff were very helpful and trained. Overall good experience.
We visited this place to celebrate Eid and had a wonderful experience here. The food here was absolutely amazing and mouth-watering good. It was well-prepared and well-presented. The service was prompt. The staff was also very hospitable and friendly. I would definitely recommend this place for a great time and a great meal.
I was very surprised after reading the bad reviews of this restaurant which is why I have decided to leave a review of our experience at this place,I had dinner here with three of my friends last Tuesday. The waiter who served us was very accommodating and when he did not know the answer to one my questions, politely asked the manager the come and explain it to us. Coming to the food, it was very tasty and reasonably priced. Do try this place once!
I visited this place with 3 of my friends last Tuesday and contrary to the bad reviews that I read about this restaurant, we had a really good time and an amazing dining experience. The server who served us was polite and accommodating. Food and cocktails tasted great and were not too pricey as well. I recommend this place to everyone despite reading the negative reviews about this place.
We opted for the top set menu. The 6 starters were delicious, the chicken and meat shawarma were tender and tasty as well as the mixed grills. Quality service thanks to the attention and help of Khaled.
A very pleasant atmosphere where staff are friendly and accommodation. The food is of very high quality and good price
Great shisha with my beautiful wife. We had frozen raspberry & frozen lychee for £37. Just don't expect good service, though. We didn't stay for food though.
I must admit at first I was a little anxious about coming to this place as the reviews are not great. However I was pleasantly surprised as the food was absolutely delicious, the environment was clean, there was a nice overall vibe to the venue and the restaurant was clean. Unfortunately I am not sure whether they were short staffed or just slow in completing their tasks, but the service was really slow. We ordered drinks and waited patiently but after half an hour when they still had not arrived, we were surprised to learn our tray of drinks were sitting on the bar, they continued to be left there for another 10 to 20 minutes even when we asked where our drinks were. Also a party that was seated after us were served a lot faster and BEFORE us.
Thankfully the staff were really nice and friendly but as I said the service could’ve been a lot quicker earning them another star.
The food was absolutely delicious! 🧆🥗The hummus was like velvet, the falafel had exquisite crunch but was soft and fluffy inside… the salad was refreshing and unique with plenty of fresh herbs. People have complained about the service in reviews but chill out guys! Get into the vibe… it’s laid back, low lighting authentic. The staff are very chill but I found them very accommodating. The chef even gave me hummus and pita instead of fries for no charge. It is relaxed, but I like it. The Lebanese beer is reeaaallyy good. This place deserves a try - the food is so, so worth it! Only criticism would be that the bread is shop bought - otherwise this place is bangin’
It's a Lebanese Restaurant; very lovely and tidy place; hot welcome ... enjoyed my food Mosaaka while hearing old Arabic song ... their food is very delicious... will visit it again and again.
Excellent service!
I had lunch with a Lebanese friend and he said it was authentic. I truly recommend this restaurant, great taste.
The food and service provided was expectional! I came in for the 3 course set meal and different options were available.
Every staff member were friendly and served me with a smile on their faces and greeted me when I entered and left the restaurant.
Lamb were slightly saturated in it's taste but well, if you accompany them with some rice or salad, it will be great! The rice was really fragrant and I can't leave without having a takeaway of another share!
The prices offered was good, considering many restaurants around the area offers food for about the same price.
Will come back again!
I was introduce to this place years ago and is better then ever!
I went there last week for dinner with friends. I love the deco of this place which is sophisticated and so welcoming! Food is fresh and tasty, I love Lebanese red wine, really exotic, they have fresh mint tea which I always have after dinner, plus delightful deserts. I was served promptly and people there are so attentive and very kind. You can sit outside there is heated area and have shisha. Highly recommend this place!
The food was generally nice. However, I think I would have appreciated if all the meze came together. The staff was very nice and friendly.
Had a fabulous dinner there last evening and thinking about it today. Some of the best Lebanese food I have had, and the service was wonderful. Attentive, pleasant, and very Kern to accommodate good allergies. Would definitely return.
