Open mic night on a Tuesday and the great food. Love it and definitely recommend it of you like live music and Caribbean food
The best live music in London, and live music is dying in London. Support this place, it's better than best.
What an amazing venue great food and above all nice live music. If you like jazz funk rnb among others.this is the place to be. Staff with character and always ready to play with you .Great place!
I naturally found myself dancing to amazing live music as if I was in my friend’s living room... at their house party. Best night out I’ve had in ages .. keep it going, I’ll be back for more!

great little escape - great musicians. not a pretentious place - how jazz bars should be

...place is low key and, as I said, has a live-music focus though there's plenty of room by the bar for socialising away from the performers. They call themselves 'London's Best Secret' and it's not too preposterous a claim. I've been out in Shoreditch countless times and had only heard about the place through a friend. It's not hard to find at all - it's in the middle of Old Street, just sitting there, waiting to be discovered, on Hoxton Street. But it's not the kind of place to attract the Essex hoards...
This place has some very good live performances and open mic nights! They have some really good singers at times :)
The menu seem to be the same since at least 2010, but this african dish are delicious!!!!! And totally affordable! Well we can say it very cheap for it's Shoreditch location. Indeed the vibe is totally unpretencious and relaxed.
So, I chanced upon this place by accident. I was reading 'organic' written when all of a sudden the door to a bar underground opened up. We were asked to come down and listen to some beautiful jazz music. There atmosphere was moody and had a romantic air about it. The best bit was the organic wine that was served to us!
I visited this place one night with a few friends and was extremely impressed. Every day there is a different genre of music playing live in this place including swing and jazz. The venue is quite intimate and the bartenders are quite friendly and spend time with you, discussing just about everything. It is a great place if you want to let your hair down and just relax.
I am not a big Jazz fan, but I came to this place with a few friends for a drink on a Friday night after dinner and the atmosphere was really nice. You have to pay a cover to get in, but there is a really nice live music and it was not crowded so it was okay. We got a table quite easily and the music was not too loud so we could chat. Drinks were not very expensive and I also found my favourite amaretto di Saronno and was really happy about. Good place to hang out with friends .
This place is great for you if you are a music lover. The entry is a bit expensive but an evening of good and soulful music is guaranteed. There a jamming sessions between experienced and amateur singers every Tuesday. Drinks are fairly priced and it is a musical delight for anyone who cares enough to listen.
This is a little unpretentious place with some good live performances. If you want to enjoy a private meal, there's place away from the performers too. The food is good and it's a simple affair. A nice, comfortable place to enjoy a dinner with family.

It wasn't my intention to go to Troy Bar, but as we stumbled round the corner from the Dead Dolls House, in our cocktail fug, realising it was 11 pm and places were shutting, there it was shining like a beacon, beckoning to us. A light of recognition went off in my mind - I had this place on my List!
And so we entered and had a wicked end to our evening. So good, that we implored our friend who had a transatlantic flight at 10 am the next morning to stay out just for one more, and one more after that - and he did!
I think they have different gigs going on every night of the week, but Fridays is jazz jam sessions and we were probably a little too boisterous for the serious stuff going on in the main room. We were aware of this though and kept our hijinks to the bar area where we wouldn't disturb anyone but the fabulous bar staff whom I'd like to think we befriended.
The place is low key and, as I said, has a live-music focus though there's plenty of room by the bar for socialising away from the performers. But it's not the kind of place to attract the Essex hoards, it makes no claims to be a hipster haven and won't be serving Korean anju any time soon. That's probably what keeps it under the radar. It's a perfect late night venue in Shoreditch for a more discerning clientele.
So, if you read this, keep it under your hat - we want to keep it that way.
P.S. I was having too much fun to take any pictures!

The troy is a turkish restaurant with a great buffet. There is a lot of choice to go for. If you are very hungry I would recommend the burger, it is huge and very tasty. They also have some very nice home made orange juices that are great for brunch. The staff is very welcoming and will let you do some changes to the menu if you want something very specific. I would recommend this place, it is nice and friendly.
Ran by friendly polite Turkish people, Troy is my first choice whenever I'm in Shoreditch. They have a full buffet during the week and a salad buffet at the weekend which is very decent for the price. The sandwiches are very delicious, fresh and healthy.
It has a very friendly and cosy vibe and throughout the two years that I have been a regular customer, it has never disappointed me.
They also have a very good collection of exotic teas and the cakes are always fresh.
What a fantastic place! The live music and overall vibe are really worth it. There is a cover charge for the concerts, but it’s relatively small (less than the cost of a drink) and it is really good value for the experience you get.
Love this spot! The band is incredible and Jamaican food is cheap and cheerful.
Band seems to have changed up almost entirely - only Oscar was there this Tuesday.
Hope the old band continues to play here, new band rocked it too!
Get here before 9pm to get a seat on Tuesday night.
Would be ideal for the night to kick off a little earlier - more than half the crowd tends to leave at half time.

An absolute vibe, one of the loveliest nights out I’ve had in a while, straight up BANGING music from the DJ, band and singers and led by the most incredible host (Jaelee). Will definitely have to make my way back there soon!
This place is what the London music scene is all about! Banging performances, friendly, engaging crowd, intimate atmosphere with good energy and good vibes! First time to TroyBar and a first time traveller to London, England from Toronto, Canada. An amazing experience. Thank you fam in London for hosting us and introducing me to TroyBar. And the jerk chicken was delicious!
Cant recommend enough . Have never taken someone there who doesn't LOVE it. Great vibes, fantastic music with host and band phenomenally on point every tine. Delicious carribean food at super reasonable price. Best night out in London. Remember to take cash for entrance and food.
Honestly my favourite venue in London . Tuesday nights are a regular thing for me over the last 10-15 years.
An amazing live music venue that’s unique in every way .
The highest level of musicians. Eddie has created the best venue .
Nice working man's club/community bar feel. Food was ok, nothing special but fairly priced. Open mic night was highly entertaining.
First off I came from dinner before I attended Troy bar. This is the only reason for a one star for food. For the life of me I can't remember the host name for the night but boy was she great and knew how to get the crowd going for open mic night. I have to say that I did really enjoy the performances of professional singers as well as amateur singers on the night. I really got to see the joy and laughter in people's faces. 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾From me for sure.
It was my first time there. I really enjoy! Hope next time I will be there soon♥️
Fantastically good Caribbean food to take away (or have in, though I’ve never done that). Amazing value. Friendly! Love this place.
Great vibes and a good night out! 4⭐️ because the drinks offering could be more diverse.
Tuesday is jam day.
Great Caribbean food, very good artists . Good acoustic
If you want a taste of the Jamaican sunshine this is the place. Amazing food every time I've been A+++
We came here for reggae night which is on a Thursday. Fantastic place. Amazing vibe. I got serenaded on my birthday. And the Food is absolutely fantastic and at a good price. What a great experience!!! I will definitely visit again.

Great Jamaican food very close to Old Street station. They have a lunch deal that goes from 12pm till 5pm and you can get a good sized meal for just £5.50. I had the grilled fish with plantain and spiced rice and it was delicious! I will definitely come back here soon!
I can't adequately describe how special this place is; it has an authenticity and atmosphere to it that other places in London can merely try (and fail, more often than not) to emulate. For anyone who loves Jazz/Funk/Soul music, this place is simply unmissable. I would personally highly recommend the Jazz jam, which occurs every Friday night.
The vibes here are immaculate, the staff are all incredibly friendly, and the food is pretty much perfect. I make a pilgrimage here every time I'm in London for the curry goat alone!
This is an absolutely essential night out for any Londoner, let alone just Shoreditch. A truly wonderful place that I couldn't be more grateful for! Unfortunately it does attract its fair share of posers, which is somewhat inevitable, but if you get there early and claim a good table, you'll be rewarded with an unforgettable experience.
Troy Bar was a whole vibe. I went to the Tuesday open mic night and it was fab! The live band didn’t miss a beat and it was good vibes all night.
Elite level Jerk chicken. Great portion size, busy queue but dealt with quickly. £5, amazing.
Second photo is of a coworker who got 'jerk veg' box. Mistake. Don't get a box of sides. Don't become the laughing stock of the office.
