During one of our visits to the area, my companions and I decided to dine at this establishment. Upon arrival, we requested a table for two and were promptly seated. Opting for one of the set menus, we were presented with a generous portion of delicious food that was both hot and satisfying. The service provided was also commendable. I highly recommend giving it a try.
During our recent visit to New China, we indulged in a delightful culinary journey filled with a variety of flavors and textures. We started with the Dim Sum Platter and proceeded to savor the Beef Stir Fry with Honey Pepper Sauce, BBQ Pork, and Szechuan Noodles with Chicken. Here's my humble review of the experience:
To kick off our meal, we decided to explore the Dim Sum Platter, and it was a delightful way to begin our culinary adventure. The platter showcased a selection of bite-sized delicacies, each steamed to perfection and bursting with flavorful fillings. From the delectable shrimp dumplings to the savory pork buns, each bite was a delightful surprise.
Moving on to the mains, the Beef Stir Fry with Honey Pepper Sauce impressed us with its tender slices of beef cooked to perfection. The sauce struck a harmonious balance between sweet and savory, enhancing the overall flavor profile. The addition of crispy vegetables added a delightful crunch, creating a satisfying combination.
The BBQ Pork was another standout dish, with its succulent and well-marinated slices of pork. The meat was tender and infused with rich flavors that left a pleasant lingering taste. The accompanying sauce complemented the pork beautifully, adding a tangy and slightly sweet note.
We couldn't resist trying the Szechuan Noodles with Chicken, and we were pleased with the bold and robust flavors it offered. The noodles were cooked to a perfect al dente texture, and the Szechuan sauce provided a satisfying kick of spiciness. The tender chicken pieces added protein to the dish, making it a well-rounded and flavorful choice.
Throughout our dining experience at New China, the service was attentive and friendly. The staff provided helpful recommendations, ensuring that our meal was enjoyable and tailored to our preferences. The cozy atmosphere and welcoming ambiance further added to the overall experience.
If I were to offer any suggestions, it would be to consider adding more vegetarian or seafood options to cater to a wider range of dietary preferences. Additionally, providing a variety of spice levels for the Szechuan Noodles would allow diners to customize their desired level of heat.
In conclusion, our experience at New China was a humble delight. From the enticing Dim Sum Platter to the flavorsome Beef Stir Fry with Honey Pepper Sauce and BBQ Pork, as well as the satisfying Szechuan Noodles with Chicken, each dish showcased the culinary expertise and dedication of the kitchen. We left the restaurant with contented palates and a desire to return. New China is a worthy destination for those seeking an authentic Chinese dining experience in London’s Chinatown.
I live in Central China and the food here is as close as it gets to authentic Chinese food for all regions of China, absolutely wonderful food, and the staff there were very welcoming and friendly! Highly recommend!
Great food and really helpful with gluten free amends for coeliacs. Very busy, so service can be slow at times, but overall I would recommend.
Wow. Special friend rice “Yong Chow” was delicious and perfect balance of flavours.
Vasta our waiter was great and quick to serve us with drinks. He recommended a dish called braised pork with soy sauce. This dish was my favourite. They have almost 200 dishes on the menu, would love to try them all.
We will be back
Recommend: mouth water chicken, braised pork in soya, spicy French beans , white meat in garlic paste.
Very nice food. However our appertisers arrived after our main courses. So we had all our food on the table at the same time, getting cold. I have never eaten a Chinese meal like that before. Seemed odd to us. We took a lot home in takeaway boxes.
My partner and I stopped here during one of our visits to the area. Asked for a table for two and we were quickly offered to sit. We chose one of the set menus and it was quite a lot of food. Hot and really nice overall. The service was also very good. Recommended.
I really like the hotpot here. The ingredients are very fresh and the bottom of the pot is very fragrant. Eat it with some dim sum and you will feel full every time.
Textbook hotpot and at 25 a head is amazing value. Everything is top quality and the only thing perhaps, if nit picking, not on par with places where you'd be paying 50+ a head is perhaps the ball-based food, at a push.
Atmosphere is amazing, lovely corner restaurant and bright but cosy decor. Exactly the experience one would look for in Chinatown and I will readily return additionally for non-hot-pot offerings.
Wow, food was absolutely lovely. Ordered set menu E, food came out fast and hot. Service was Brilliant, all the staff were friendly and polite.
really lovely food and service! we ordered from a set menu and got ribs, spring rolls, prawn toast, chicken satay, hoisin duck, chilli beef, sweet n sour chicken and more all for £26ish each! Portions were plentiful and we took two boxes of leftovers home afterwards. Highly reccomend
We visited Chinatown yesterday (05/04/2023) while visiting London. 4 children and 3 Adults. We did a few laps of Chinatown looking for somewhere to go that both had space for 7 and took card payments (which were few and far between). We skim read reviews as we found ones that looked ok and as the rain fell, decided to risk here despite the extreme mixed reviews.
It was so worth it. Seeing so many Asian/ Chinese customers made us assume it must be good and it was. Over the years have been to several eateries in Chinatown and this was the best.
We were welcomed in by a polite young gentleman and led downstairs to a large round table to 1 side.
Menus had plenty of options and prices reasonable. Lady took our order and was very patient with the large order but also me telling her the wrong things confusing everyone (buns instead of dumplings) she was again helpful with.
Didn’t have to wait long, portions were very generous, hot and extremely flavourful. Even the children not typically keen on Chinese couldn’t get enough and people trying things they wouldn’t usually having seen others enjoying it.
All in all, didn’t witness anything raised in the negative reviews and when we come back in the summer we’ll be heading straight here.
