Nice cafe. The staff were friendly. Huge portions. It's not 5 star dining but a friendly place to sit down and eat. Get there before the lunch time, because it is hugely popular and all the seats are taken, but still you still get a 5 star service. :-)
Is now known as Faith Hackney. They have had a revamp and the interior is beautiful and modern. The menu is similar to before so incorporates local and modern version of breakfast along with Turkish and vegan options
I love the the breakfast. I have been going there from last 3years now also all served halal. The price also good not too expensive.
My wife and I had breakfast at Mel's. Food was tasty and hot. The service was good but basic. The atmosphere as in most small London restaurants is nothing special just takes and chairs, but that works.

Smashing little place . Since starting work in the area last year Mels cafe has been my refuge from work each lunch time . Mel herself is now a friend as we are here every day .
The ladies are all amazing really friendly and always good for a laugh.

When we went on a vacation in London this was the place where we ate our breakfast. Good quality food with some very kind people working there. There is a reason this was the place we went to for a full week.
Use to be a regular here few years back. My favourite was the fish and chips on Fridays. No longer regular here because i don't work in that area. But definitely want to show up on a Friday just for the fresh and yummy 🐟
Builders cafe, nice food, open before 7, freezing cold in there though, couldn't take coat off even when sat next to the radiator. Only had white bread available. Overall the food was good and good size portions.
They cooked such tasty meals and lovely smoothies. The price was so good that I ordered musaka to take away for dinner and the twins got complimentary lollipops
Huge menu! Massive menu. Who can make all these things on this huge menu? Seems like Mel's Cafe can as I have not ordered anything to find my self surprised. Prices are good and the staff friendly. Indoor seating only but there is a fair amount of room.
In the last few days I've heard that it's closed for the foreseeable future... (taken over by another Hackney Café).
Clean. ... affordable Latte ... nice selection of soft drinks in fridge. Great people. Free-to-use cash dispensers very close. I never have to wait.
Found by chance for much needed breakfast. Totally satisfied. Friendly welcoming staff, comfortable atmosphere, prompt service, gorgeous freshly squeezed orange juice, truly scrumptious Mediterranean breakfast. Great value for money. Highly recommend (taking friends back there tomorrow!)
One of my favourite traditional Hackney Cafes serving traditional British meals. Friendly and courteous staff and reasonably priced. Always a pleasure to eat here.
Stayed in Hackney for 1st time for family wedding, had a poor breakfast at Costa yesterday . Saw Mel’s today ! Brilliant breakfast , all our family ate there . Perfect service, tasty food RECOMMENDED 👍👍 can they move to Manchester please?
