Ate here three times already. Interior is pretty dark but food was good, with friendly server. It's a bit pricey for me as a student but it's nice to have a nice dinner once in awhile. It's also just a short walk from our flat.

Despite a couple of bad reviews below, I have visited this restaurant twice and been impressed both times. We visited Thai Thai recently on a Tastecard (50% off) which is a bargain. We had the chicken pad thai and the beef red curry with rice - both were very decent portions and tasted great! The service was good and the drinks are also reasonably priced. Would go back again!

Their food is delicious. As a vegetarian, I really enjoyed their options - and they ensure that egg and fish based products are not used in preparing their meals. Their cocktails went really well with their menu. Overall, definitely a place worth trying. Prices are slightly on the higher end - but you get value for your money.

The menu wasn't extensive, so I quickly narrowed it down to Spicy Wings for my starter and a Duck Curry for my main. The starter was delicious! I could've eaten it twice.. it was fairly priced at about £7. I then proceeded to my main (priced at about £13, if I'm not mistaken) which again was lovely! It had a surprising mouthful of flavours from pineapple, grapes, lychees, coconut and so much more. I'm not sure if it needed slightly more salt or I'm just addicted to it but I would've given it a sprinkling more personally. For drinks I ordered an Old Oak white wine which was so rich in flavour! Mm! I then had a Strawberry Daiquiri, Piña Colada and some Champagne..all mouth watering (esp the daiquiri). The staff and atmosphere were great so I would definitely recommend Thai Thai and would probably go back again.

Great Service!. We dropped by this restaurant after passing by so many times. We love thai food and Thai Thai didnt disappoint. Unlike other thai restaurants in London the service team are multi cultural and communication was generally great. I am usually apprehensive when ordering at a restaurant, then waiting to see if what I ordered actually arrives! No problem here.

Thai Thai is highly recommended. Busy place, so if you want to keep your table order more drinks or a dessert.

Thai Thai just exudes opulence, with it's impressive stained-glass ceiling, high ceilings, carved wooden artefacts, and crimson walls...

Food: Went here with my flatmate the other day. She had been here before and loved the place. We ordered Thai red curry and Tom Yum soup which turned out to be our favourite dish!

Service: Very nice! Staff is very courteous and sweet.

Cost: A bit expensive but totally worth it! I wouldn't go there too often with my limited student budget but once in a while it's worth eating here!

Would definitely recommend it to others!

Came across this place on the way to the gym and it looked like an ok place for a quick takeaway (Old Street doesn’t have many restaurants you can actually eat at and enjoy the food). Ended up coming one night with my little sister who was crying for Thai food.
The prices are very reasonable.

This is not a place where I would be ordering seafood (not due to its prices but the décor). My sister got the Gyoza Dumplings, Vegetarian Spring-rolls and the Thai Thai fired ride with Chicken and was happy with her choices.
I ordered the Chicken Satay (the satay sauce contains gluten), and despite it being a weird fluorescent yellow colour it was very tasty. For a main I had the beef Pad-Thai and it was good, however the beef was a little too well done.
This place isn’t bad but it’s not great either.

A taste's experience to be made

Thai Thai restaurant is probably one of those places where you can try authentic Thai cuisine. London is plenty of good Thai restaurants but this is good compromise for price and high-quality.

Service is kind, rigorous and never invasive.

Tastes?
Some dishes are really unique and you don't find them everywhere (so do expect typical dishes but also unusual and unknown ones). Try the PUU NIM which a crispy soft shell crab topped with chili, garlic and seasoning. But also “crispy gyoza dumplings”, really nice!

Details of dish preparation, presentation added to nice tastes, excellent quality of ingredients and the final presentation is very nice and deserves positive adjectives only.

You will not go outside with sensation of empty stomach and wallet :D.

In any case atmosphere is peaceful (depending on your neighbours' voices of course :)) and reserved, so that it's good both for pleasure both for business occasions.

You will not waste your money in any case.

Workers in this place are young and they know what they make. Well-done!

Had dinner on 2 consecutive nights Excellent authentic Thai food with just the right amount of spices. The service is good and the portions are filling. It may be a good idea to make reservations though we were lucky to find an empty table.

The other night, a friend and I found ourselves walking along Old St. in the drizzle when we decided we needed something spicy . . . something to make us feel far, far away in a warm and exotic land. Luckily for us, we stumbled upon Thai Thai. The doors were literally open, beckoning us in. The amazing aroma emanating from within helped, too!

The decor was Art Nouveau meets traditional Thai with a beautiful stained-glass ceiling. Dim lighting and dark cherry wood tables set a lovely mood befitting a nice date. We had settled on take-out, however, and placed our order at one of the counters.

We decided to sip on a cocktail while we waited. After a quick browse through the list, a combination of classics and unique mixes, we both opted for the Bangkok Butterfly, a zesty bouquet of lychee, ginger, lime, and blue curacao (I will order just about anything with lychee!) We sipped and chatted until our take-out was ready, and even then, we were in no way pressured to finish our drinks and leave.

Now, for the food. We ordered a chicken pad thai, a red duck curry (the restaurant's specialty!) and an order of jasmine rice to share. The curry was jam-packed with delicious ingredients, whole lychees, sliced pineapple, and bunches of peppercorn! The texture was creamy without being oily! The pad thai was flavourful and zingy-- decidedly less unique than the Red Curry, but perfectly delicious just the same!

Best of all, the two dishes, rice and cocktails only came to £35! I will definitely be back for a proper, sit-down dinner with a group of friends!

One of those moments when you think you've eaten enough sea food and decided you don't like it. But then comes along a restaurant with some brilliant sea food and you attain nirvana. Here's what happened to me with Thai Thai.

We ordered the managers recommendation, red and green Thai curry and veg spring rolls. Each dish was great. There wasn't anything that could be termed a disappointment. They were decent in their delivery time. The packaging was careful and handy. All in all, do try it next time you around in East london.

When looking for comfort food, thai thai is the place to be!

The food overall is above average, but I what makes me go back is definitely the green curry - probably the creamiest I have ever tasted, with flavours that seem to linger. Match this heavy soul food with sticky rice, and it transforms one to food heaven. Definitely a winner!

Lately, I've been going through a rough time.

Everything felt like it was going from bad to worse. So, I would hide away in my duvet cave and refuse to come out.

I don't like to feel vulnerable and weak.

Most of all I'd hate people knowing that I was feeling like this.

So, I'd hide away until I was ready to pick myself up.

Of course, I did have some help along the way.

Most of it came in the form of luring me out of my cushioned lair.

First of all, proximity from my cave was key.

The answer? Thai Thai.

It was only a stone throw away from home, so under the cover of darkness I plucked up the courage to venture out.
Boy it was definitely a worthy excursion away from my hideout.

Ambiance?

Thai Thai just exudes opulence, with it's impressive stained-glass ceiling, high ceilings, carved wooden artefacts, and crimson walls.

Candles flicker from each table, giving Thai Thai that blushing warm glow.

Sex Appeal?

Starters

Chicken Satay Skewers £6.50

You know what's infuriating.

When you order chicken satay skewers, get so excited and then it arrives.

But what arrives is something that has been chargrilled to death that even the chicken wouldn't recognise it; and is just a dry, shrivelled mess that you wouldn't look twice at.

THANKFULLY, what was presented before me was the most tender, succulent and generously portioned chicken satay skewers I've had in a long time. It was glazed with this spicy, sticky peanutt-y sauce that made it oh-the-more awesome.

Mains

Green Chicken Curry £8.95 with Coconut rice £3.50

Red Beef Curry with £8.95 Vegetable Noodles £4.95

I have found it impossibly difficult to locate a classic Thai restaurant in London, that I could go back to over and over again.

Thai Thai sits right at the top of my list for sure.

Both curries were creamy without feeling too heavy and had a perfect level of spice where it gradually builds up. I love that slow burning feeling.

The chicken and beef portions were really generous in both dishes, and most importantly were really tender.

Dessert

Pandan Coconut Sticky Rice Pudding with Fresh Mango

The sticky rice was a touch on the dry side for dessert, but anything can be redeemed by feeding me spoonfuls of fresh mango. All of the mango, of course.

Yeah-O-Meter

I'm not a particularly big fan of Thai food, but I was impressed by the spread offered by Thai Thai, perfect for a lazy Sunday dinner. The place was quiet and easily accommodated the twelve of us who were there, allowing us to all chat and have (often loud) fun easily.

The food was better than average, all of us content with the generous portions provided. In fact despite my order not even making the kitchen there was enough to go around. The place was clean too, but although polite the service left much to be desired (I'm still a bit upset that I didn't get my prawns).

A 50% Top Table offer sealed the deal and we ended up paying around 14 quid a head. A nice place, and inevitably the place we'll be returning to for a cheap and cheerful Thai.

Great place to meet up with friends, lively restaurant with friendly waiters/waitresses. The order was taken promptly and soon after the starters arrived - very tasty food but the menu takes time to read and understand.

Nice decor and easy to find on the high road. Will definitely go for another meal there again.

After a few days in London, we went to this restaurant and it was the best experience culinary of our stay. The service was perfect. The staff were smiling, dedicated to our welfare and the service were fast. As to the food, it was the best Thai I ever tasted. If by chance you cross this restaurant, stop there, you will not regret it.

I've ordered in from Thai City quite a few times thinking this is some of the best Thai takeaway I've had around here! Last Friday I had the pleasure of actually eating in the restaurant: the place is beautiful and very welcoming. Staff were friendly and accommodating and the food (as always) was delicious. portions are massive too! Couldn't recommend this place enough.

Pretty nice place to gather with friends and eat some Asian food. Decor is amazing, seems it had some authentic Thai parts in it. The food was really nice, there were some traditional Thai dishes in the menu as well as a wide variety of drinks. Service was nice, staff were smiley, polite and welcoming, made us enjoy our stay although we had to wait about 10 mins to get everything served. Prices were average considering the quality of the food which wasn't something special. In overall this is a nice place to kill some time and get some Thai food.

Polite, efficient staff. Nice environment with actual table cloths, clean glasses and perfect light levels. Food was enjoyable though the little sprig of parsley was pointless. We ate two things from the photo pages including the giant river prawns which were really good. Your clothes will smell like you’ve been working in the kitchen though!

Excellent decor and staff. The place is neat and tidy, perhaps a little overdone. The food was served quickly and was quite tasty and certainly had a good zing to it. Was a little disappointed with the choice though, there wasn't that big a range of dishes and there seemed to be a lot of westernised dishes on there too, not really authentic Thai ones. which was a bit of a disappointment. Prices reasonable and there was a reasonable GF choice, I cannot recall sadly what the veggie/vegan choice was like I'm afraid.

Really good food, located in the heart of old Street. Stopped in here because I was craving some Thai food, would go again. It is a bit pricey however there was a three course meal for decent price also the portions enough to leave you satisfied. I had the green Thai curry which had a little spicy kick to it.

Highly recommended . The Food is Amazing, full of flavour, fresh ingredients. It is clear that the chef(s) care a-lot about the dishes. I was very pleasantly surprised! Friendly attentive service from start to finish which was so lovely. The food here definitely comes top of my list for places to eat now. Thank you :)

It's been a few years since I'd been here. Very good welcome and the food (new chef and / or management?) much improved since say 2008. Staff friendly, accurate and efficient, and thankfully not too intrusive. Very large restaurant for this area so ok for groups, and couples can have their own space. Typical clientele seem on the young side. But then everyone seems young to me these days! Duck curry very good, spicy and portion about right. Stir fry chicken, veg, pineapple, extra chilli, very nice. Taste buds have now recovered. Good value and incidentally a fine view of St. Luke's. Good for tubes and bus routes.
