i now have resting "why aren't i eating Marine Ices gelato right now" face. easily the best gelato in town! in the 70s when my parents lived by chalk farm station they would go to MI every weekend and were delighted to hear it's still there, continuing to bring smiles to every face that enters and making the world a more delicious place one cone [or tub] at a time.
While some other places may boast a wider selection they don't match the quality at MI. And the range of sorbets are worthy of a mention too. Thank you for making my DREAM COMBO [melon + rum raisin] possible! [cue porn music]
Friendly, charming staff, free wifi and generous scoops at decent prices. Misread by Kings of Convenience was playing when i was last in too so you get the full five stars and five sweet xxxxx not keen on the metal chairs though
The shop is clean and inviting, the staff are friendly and helpful and the ice cream is delicious! Pistachio and Coconut - simply the best
The best icecream in town 💯🍦🍦🍦🍦🍦💯🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨💯💯💯💯💯💯
Fab place with a very cool room upstairs for parties...
Two places I had my best ever ice-cream - Italy and Marine Ices xx Amazingly delicious, great service and location!
Favourite gelato!
Various unique flavours!
Friendly staff!
IMMACULATE last Sunday afternoon. ...... understated flavours ... precise service.... attention to detail... a gem of Camden... and like Doctor Who's telephone box-concealing-Tardis there are a few further little surprises as you venture in...
Shop is now so small but the ice cream is as good as it ever was.
Best ice cream place ever !!staff so friendly & polite :D
Wonderful ice cream, charming and helpful staff at great new location...A delightful experience- as always!
The service was great the Knickerbocker Glory was brilliant and the milkshake was rich (dark choc) so was all round a great experience
We have missed Marine ices so much over the last couple of years & somehow hadn't got round to visiting the new ice cream parlour until Yesterday! WOW! It was lovely, different but lovely. The staff were friendly and helpful, the manager, Ed, was charming and informative, the decor upstairs was mind-blowing. It was so nice to be back. Then back home, carrying an insulated box of a luscious variety of ice-cream & sorbet which the family wolfed down with great joy! THANKYOU!
Best ice cream I've ever tasted, used to come here in my school lunch break, now travel 200 miles for a taste of pure bliss!
I LOOOVE their waffles. They are warm and soft with a crunch. Amazing with the speculoos and toffee crunch gelato!
Amazing ice cream and very friendly staff.
Lovely little Italian ices shop in Chalk Farm
Very low key which is nice.
Have the Belgian Wallfles. They will rock your socks off.
Usually we go there for Icecream but this time went for food and wow ... very good pizza, excellent pasta and spaghetti yum yum
Great value super tasty icecream
For all you gelato enthusiasts, such as ourselves, it is a relief to know that the institution that is Marine Ices is not closing down. Instead it is moving to a new location, just down the road, with the shop front marked by the beautiful wisteria tree! The new branch of Marine Ices is concentrating on what it does best: gelato, sorbets, sundaes, milkshakes, sauces and toppings! Coming to Marine Ices makes you feel like a kid in a sweet shop! The range of ice cream flavours displayed in the front counter makes you spoilt for choice. So much so that the only solution that worked for myself is by letting the staff choose. Creamy gelatos and fruity sorbets make a good combination. It is difficult to choose a favourite but there a few that do stand out. Dark Chocolate with Pieces is not too rich and has the right level of sweetness. The Mint Choc Chip gives that intense hit of fresh mint. The simple Coffee and Strawberry flavours are done perfectly. T
One of those London institutions.
I've been going to for a some time now; a proper old-fashioned ice cream parlour, with glossy tables, good Italian staff who know everyone, signed celebrity pics on the walls, and delicious gelato, you will get hooked.
Nothing ever seems to change here; in never-stands-still London, I think that's quite nice.
An all time favourite of mine. Its been coming here for years now and it's cositently proven to be one of the best ice cream spots in town.
Over the years they've started serving main dishes and starter but I only ever go for the ice cream. If you're looking to go big try any of their sundaes otherwise a scoop or two of their basic flavours will do the trick.
They serve most types of drinks but usually go for a cup of tea. The staff alway do their best to put a smile on and be enthusiastic but sometimes it gets very busy which can impact the quality of service.
Date of visit: 27/6/13
Came here after a gig at the Roundhouse, this place as a really family run vibe, there seemed to be loads of regulars enjoying this place.
They have a diverse menu, from Pizzas to Crazy Sundae Ice Creams. I wasn't too hungry so i just ordered a Bruschetta, the presentation was nice served on a wooden plate, it was pretty basic really, but it wasn't just tomatoes thrown on some toasted bread, i could feel i care taken making it. If i do come back again i will try the pizza.
For dessert i had a ice cream sundae.I was amazed with the price and quality. This is a nice place with really good vibe and atmosphere, i will come back again.

This place brings back childhood memories. It is amazing that it has lasted throughout the years. I guess it is testament to the popularity of the place. I have always enjoyed the ice creams at this place and as a result never had reason to try the food (wasn't really aware they had a menu). A favourite combo of mine has always been the coffee and chocolate ice creams. May this place continue to live on!
We had booked a table for 12 for a surprise birthday party of a friend and casually invited all to this place. We just gave them the name of the restaurant and it was fairly easy for every 1 to locate it, easy for people traveling by the underground as well as for those by car to find a parking space.
A long table was kept reserved for us where we comfortably sat facing each other. Among the 12 of us we ordered several dishes ..all vegetarian which were fairly good. We shared our food. I remember having ordered the gnocchi and thin crust pizza ..they were good ..the pizza was absolutely fresh, straight from the oven and very thin and crispy.
We ended the evening by having a sundae as we did not attempt bringing a cake from outside into another restaurant.
Decent place. Fair prices.
It was Frank Sinatra who once sung, 'Love and Marriage, Love and Marriage, they go together like a horse and carriage.' If the late, great Frank had been to Marine Ices, you can bet your bottom dollar he'd say the same thing about marine ices and ice-cream: you can't have one without the other. Indeed, Marine Ices has earned something of a cult status as the preeminent ice-cream parlour in London.
I remember how my parents used to take me to Marine Ices as a child. I'd since half forgotten about it, and was filled with nostalgic delight when I rediscovered it as a university student. I've sampled their icy delights more times than I care to remember over the past few years, but it's always delicious. The last time I went, I seem to remember I went with a plain and simple duo of a scoop of chocolate and a scoop of strawberry. The strawberry was fresh and refreshing, but it's the chocolate that really gets me going. It is unrivalled.
But their menu is diverse - and whenever I've ventured further afield than the ice cream, I can reassure you that I've not been disappointed. Yes, it's a little pricy. Yes, it's a little old fashioned. But I personally wouldn't change a thing. I'm happy to pay the price if it means keeping the historic Marine Ices alive and well, alive and kicking.
Screw Flanders
I've been coming here since I was a kid and it still holds a special memory somehow! I've never had lunch here but used to get an ice cream passing by. Somehow it feels like one of the few old places that has remained in the area. Hope it stays around and keeps making great ice cream!
Best ice cream in town! You can’t miss this if you are in Camden. No need goto other trendy ice cream shops coz this is the best❤️
Cute little place, the sundae and milkshake we ordered were delicious. It was a little bit pricey but a well decorated space and the staff were sweet :)
Fantastic waffle, would definitely recommend the brownie sundae, worth coming back for!
Delicious icecream and a good range of flavours. Hazelnut, pistachio and vanilla particularly good. Best crunchy delicious cones as well. What's not to love.
Delicious ice cream, lovely service and free WiFi. What more could anyone want? 😂
Image: 1 scoop pistachio, 1 scoop cookies & cream with caramel sauce :)
Excellent Italian ice cream. Interesting flavours and friendly service. One of the best ice-cream shops in London. Highly recommended.
We love this place and we're ice cream fans. We've tried most of the ice cream places in North London. Pretty much all the ones you'll read in the guides of top 10 etc. Without a doubt this is the best one we've tried by far. Great options for lactose free people and good Sundaes
