Small cozy place, flavour is adjusted to local taste- a bit bland. Nice people and quick service. Good budget option near the south kensingtom station

Really great food, good service and not too expensive. Could have maybe done with slightly larger portion sizes for the mains but apart from that we loved it and will definitely be going back.

Earlier this restaurant was a pretty average place as far as Thai restaurants go. I had given them 2.5 stars. But in the last couple of years they have improved significantly and the rating reflects that. I would say this is one of the better Thai places in London now. The food is always fresh and super tasty. The Green Curry is very nice, especially the vegetarian version. The Pork Pad Krapaow also deserves a special mention. Other great dishes at the Salt and Pepper Squid, Ultimate Pad Thai, Peppery Thai Trout. The Som Tum is also delicious and can be done without Fish Sauce for vegetarians ana Vegans.

We came on a Sunday lunchtime without reservation, no problem as there was plenty of space. The staff member who served us was super friendly and attentive. The food was delicious with good portions, average prices for London. The space is a bit stuffy because it's downstairs and also a bit cramped. They could remove one of the tables to rearrange the space. I would go back for the food and good service, though. πŸ‘

I had come here for dinner with my mum last night and we were able to get a table for two with no reservation. The lady who served us was so kind and friendly, was always checking up on us. They served good portions of food which was delicious, would definitely come back here again!

We had a party of seven, and everyone enjoyed what they ordered. I had fried tofu with sweet chili sauce, which I loved. The Pad Thai looked amazing, and I'll try that next visit.

Popped in to this hidden Thai Resturant in the basement. Order several dishes along a starter selection and crispy chicken. Everything tasted fresh and full of flavour. The best dish was the crisp chicken. It was nice and crispy, chicken stay was very tender. Overall great experience. πŸ˜‹

As a big fan of Thai food, this place pleasantly surprised me. The restaurant is hard to spot on High street Kensington, but if you go inside the food would definitely worth make it a visit. Great food, decent price, friendly staff and cozy vibes.

Despite the negative reviews, I feel that it is my obligation as someone who is aquainted with Asian cuisine to defend this place for serving some of the most authentic Thai flavours within this neighbourhood. Haven't ordered takeaway so I can't say for that part but eating in was a delightful and delicious experience. Portions are reasonable ...

Really great did and very nice family that runs the place. The highlight was the green curry! It's a bit on the spicy side but full of flavor. Kids love the ice cream... Choice of two flavors! Yum!

Had a lovely time and the ambiance is super cozy and posh. We planned to eat at romulo cafe but they cannot accommodate us and looked for a different restaurant instead and found this Papaya tree. The owner is very kind and recommended their nicest dish. Absolutely fantastic. The desserts were absolutely amazing. We had the chunky crispy bananas in honey and honeycomb vanilla italian ice cream and roti wedges which is crispy pancake in condensed milk paired with matcha ice cream that cleanses your palate. 😘 Value for money: 5 stars Waiting time: none except when we ordered the desserts which took 10 to 15 mins before they served it but the waiting game is all worth it. πŸ‘Œ So much better than the thai resto down in Southampton.

Tasty food, especially rice with pineapple. Service is okay but could be better. Drinks are quite expensive.

Just dropped in for a spontaneous lunch but found a hidden gem. The service was excellent, the food was lovely and the portions were very good. I would recommend the pad see-ew and the sweetcorn Thai cakes.

They have a new chef, the food was amazing compared to a year ago. Phenomenal green curry and lamb massaman. Tom Kha on point too. One of the best Thai restaurants in London now. Whatever you do keep this chef and the ingredients you use.

Lovely restaurant, went there for dinner on a quiet day. Have been walking pass it for so many years and never tried it. Was very excited and the food did not disappoint. The service was lovely and the manager offered us a drink on the house at the end of the meal. We have felt very looked after and the staff is attentive and very accomodating. Had lots of delivery drivers come in and out, which means people must enjoy the take away food as well. Very lovely and I will definitely go again, and if feeling lazy will try their delivery service too.

Given the scarcity of good Thai restaurants in Kensington I was eager to try the Papaya Tree, and it did not disappoint in the slightest. The menu offered a various selection of very good-looking dishes -- commonplace Thai foods as well as regional specialities from different parts of Thailand. The fresh trout looked very appetizing but this being my first visit, I wanted to compare with what I knew so ordered more standard fare: the pad Thai with prawns and also a green curry with chicken. Made with very fresh ingredients, the pad Thai was tasty, offering multiple levels of flavor in a stir fry that was neither oily nor greasy, as so many badly done versions of this dish can be. The prawns were meaty and also tasted very fresh. Moving on to the green curry, I would say it is not the best that I have ever eaten but a very good attempt. As with the pad Thai, the curry was made with very fresh ingredients allowing the complexity of flavours to shine through. Topped with generous pieces of chicken plus very fresh green beans, bamboo shoots and peppers, the taste was good. The sauce I thought a little bland and compensating with extra spices, but overall it was a very good dish. The owners have done a nice job creating a contemporary restaurant with classic Thai touches in a basement setting. Because it is downstairs there are no windows but good attention to the lighting, and a quiet, jazzy soundtrack creates an intimate yet comfortable space. It would be a nice place to take a date. I give it a very solid four stars and will definitely be coming back again to try some of the other delicious looking items on the menu.
