Very good place with delicious food and drinks that are always made and served freshly with the best ingredients and with the help of a really nice and friendly staff as well.

Fantastic - what a great space. This place was already lovely pre extension, but I'm loving the bright space and outdoor area. The food remains good quality and well priced and does the best cream tea I have had in ages!

The Tea Rooms in Stoke Newington is one of the loveliest places I know to drink tea and get high on obscene amounts of sugary cakes. It's tiny, very very cute, serves you as much tea as you want in beautiful teacups, and when the bill arrives you feel like you've robbed the place.

With the shops along Stoke Newington's Church Street catering for babies/toddlers, the area is a mini nappy valley. If you are looking to have an a afternoon tea with your toddler and fellow mothers, look no further than The Tea Rooms at Stoke Newington. Unsurprisingly, Wife and I bumped into a group of NCT mums when we dropped by and suffice to say that it took a bit of an effort to hear ourselves speak. I did a double take when I first saw the name. As far as generic names go, "Tea Rooms" clinches the prize. There was this laid back charm to the entire place; the menu was scribbled on two large chalk boards and a large counter with dainty looking cakes spread across with small tables some with crocheted tablecloth distributed across two rooms. A lovely place to go for special occasions (and if you want to feel classy for a few hours). The cakes may seem small but you'll be full up within five minutes.

Afternoon tea per person is £25.

Stoke Newington's own little tea shop – on a strip filled with coffee-first cafes – is a quaint spot for a spot of tea. The space isn't big – with room for probably six tables of two to four, but has a homely feel to it. Our visit was bad timing, for half of the menu wasn't available, but the spinach and red pepper quiche was fluffy with just the right amount of cheese. The cheese scone was warmed up, and helped soak up the Lapsang souchong black tea – oaky like a peated whisky, without the alcoholic sting – and quite strong. By the third cup it was overwhelming.

This place is very sweet with a decent selection of cakes and sandwiches for afternoon tea, along with the option of a glass of Prosecco, something I didn't expect. Everything is served in unmatching crockery - some of which I recognised from my seventies childhood which was quite fun! However, with one loo, there was always someone hovering, which felt a little odd, and you didn't quite get that feeling that you could really relax and spend all afternoon there, as you do in a hotel. It's lovely for a break whilst you potter around Stokey, but if you're looking for a treat I would say just go the extra mile and try a central London hotel.
