Love the restaurant! The Laska and Malaysian chicken were wonderfully delicious š A fabulous wine list and great staff made the night! ā¤ļø Congratulations Mandy! š
Been waiting patiently since they opened, and finally made it last night. In my opinion, the best laksa in town. In and out quickly with super efficient staff. Will be back for more, with an entourage, a promise, not a threat. Hopefully, next time there's an option for bean sprouts & Daun Kesum mint in the laksa, plus a Teh Tarik. Keep it up Laksa Bar! I'm giving it 5 stars as what I had was truly excellent!
Best Laksa ever (& the Malaysian Fried Chicken is pretty good too)!! Lovely to see Mandy and her team in their new restaurant, I will be back for more!!
Went there for lunch, and ordered the Special Laksa with Prawn and Chicken. Service was friendly and fast. They seated us even though we didn't have a reservation, but we had the table for an hour (which was more than enough).
The chicken was a bit dry, and although the laksa was well seasoned, the chiken was bland, and eating it with the laksa didn't cover its dryness or blandness. All in all it was good, but for the price (Ā£20, without service), I would expect great laksa ---not just good.
Worth noting that most of the menu is gluten free, with plenty of vegetarian and vegan options.
Finally Iāve fulfilled my craving! Many places I went for curry laksa but it wasnāt the one I wanted *I know itās not easy to get in London. Until I found Sambal Shiok in Goggle and IG. Honesty is expensive and I admitted I fell in love with the Signature Curry Laksa *HOT (Chicken & Prawn Special) from the first sips of the curry laksa I know my Sundayās lunch was well spent (not disappointed after travelled far from Woodford via Underground) My taste buds telling me they used top grades of Asian ingredients, not just the taste also the smells of the spices aromatics. Good size of portion, marvellous spiciness level, generous proteins and I finished whole bowl included the curry laksa broth HAPPY in my tummy ;) And the fried chicken snack was delicious ; crispy outside with flavourful spices and juicy inside plus the peanut sauce was amazing to go with.
Had a take away curry puffs snacks for my husbandās request and he loved it (will bring him after he recovers) Overall Iām satisfied with the bill because they are worth it. Last but not least todayās on duty team was great in their services and I can see they are providing the best qualities in their respective roles.Your warmest welcoming will not be forgotten! Will be back again xx
Good food, it has a western take o the Malaysian style.
The staff were very friendly and the place has a cute layout, I would recommend this place.
I personally loved the fried chicken, great taste and lovely home made peanut sauce.
The laksa is decently flavoured and I like the spice levels.
You should go here but do not treat it as a traditional Malay place.
Fantastic little find. I went here on my own after a football game and the staff were so welcoming. I sat at the bar, which in some restaurants can mean sub- standard service, but here it was excellent! The food was delicious - they aren't joking when they say the hot chicken laksa is hot- it's really spicy, which I loved! Would absolutely go back. Thank you!
Best laksa I've ever had, just so incredibly fragrant. I also had the fried chicken, which was amazing but a bit much if you're a solo diner, so bring some friends to get the most out of your Sambal Shiok experience. The rose milk to me straight back to my grandmas place. Lunch time is a good time to go if you want to avoid crowds.
We loved our meal here - we went for the fried chicken and Gado Gado salad for starters, which were both yum, and then had the special laksa (prawn and chicken) and chicken curry. Both were delicious and the rose milk was amazing! The cafe is really nice, with reasonable prices - was happy to see it was fully booked on a Tuesday night - always a good sign! The staff were also so lovely, we had a long chat with Yao the general manager and told him how much we enjoyed our meal - it was very interesting learning about how the laksa is prepared and all the time and effort that goes into it. I would recommend this place to anyone who likes Malaysian food - weāll definitely be back to try the beef rendang next time!
The food is really good and the service was incredibly speedy - almost too speedy! Felt a bit rushed. The Laksas are delicious but quite expensive at Ā£18 a bowl. More expensive than we expected at almost Ā£45 a head for a Laksa and a couple of drinks. The penang assam lassa is very unique and definitely worth trying!!
Staff were very friendly and attentive and had pictures of the food ready for when I asked questions.
The starters were really delicious, we had fried chicken and gado gado salad and they complemented each other so well.
They specialise is laksa, and while Iām definitely no expert, the flavour was great and the bowl was full.
The general manager came over and explained some of the process of making it, it take 4 days and hours and hours of stirring, sounds like they put a lot an effort and passion into it.
Would definitely go back.
I love this place. The service is always friendly but professional and the food has never disappointed.
The laksas are rich and the broth is thick and filling. I particularly like the chicken and prawn. However, even though I went for mild, it was a little too spicey but you can top up with coconut milk which really helps.
The fried chicken is a must. And the curry puffs are pretty delicious too. In fact, youāve also got to try the rendang and chicken curry too. Maybe multiple visits are neededā¦ š
The prices might be higher than people expect to pay but having tried lots of laksas, the quality ingredients and time and effort put into making these dishes is absolutely worth it.
The laksa is great but the place is overpriced for what it is. Special laksa was delicious, I asked for the hottest option and it was really flavourful. But the fried chicken isnāt worth the money, and even though the laksa was creamy and delicious, at Ā£20, felt like it was an expensive casual eat.
Wonderful meal. I ordered the Malaysian fried chicken and the special laksa. Both were superb. The special laksa came with prawns, chicken and tofu. It was the perfect meal to battle the cold weather. Portions sizes were great. Service was awesome. Due to its popularity, our party booked in advance to avoid any waiting times. Would highly recommend!
Absolutely incredible laksa - hearty, spicy, filling and unbelievably delicious. Iām also a huge fan of the tofu puffs and their fried chicken. Thereās also a well put together wine and drinks list that pairs really well with the food. Service is quick without being rushed. The staff are accommodating even if you show up without a reservation (sorry about that!). Iāve been here a bunch of times and every time I go, I wonder why I donāt do it more often.

Happy accident to stumble in here waking down Holloway Road. Food was really good and definitely had a kick to it. Beef Rendang was tender and good flavour. Sitting at the counter I could tell they were paying attention to every dish going out. Attention to detail seemed important, and have to think it helps they arenāt trying to fulfil a stream of Deliveroo orders out the door.
