Been coming Satay for years and have watched it's growth. Know all the staff but I must say, since the new general manager has joined I've seen a great change in vibe and attitude. Great to be welcomed by a smiling face and positive attitude. It's always been my spot on A Friday evening... may just have to add Saturdays to that too now. Lol.
A massive thank you to the Satay Bar Brixton for such great food and great service. I'm a Brixton Boy and have always enjoyed the delights that you serve up. Looking forward to my next eats! Cocktails and food on point!
💕Amazing food friendly staff the cocktails are the best 💕

Loved it! If you're ever in Brixton try a Red Dragon from Satay Bar. Staff were all wonderful, shout out to our waitress Natasha, who made sure we were good. Will definitely go again.
This place gets very packed after 5pm but has a great atmosphere. A vibrant vibe and filled with youngsters. The outside seating is great for a drink too! However I must say it is difficult to get service as waiters are running around. Food was FANTASTIC - I had chicken katsu with wok fried noodles and my mate had Mr Wang's crispy beef strips with sweet potato fries. I cannot wait to eat there again, worth every penny!
When I got to this restaurant I was surprised as I've lived in Malaysia for the past 5 years and could only see 3 Malaysian dishes on the menu, char kuay teow, laksa and mee goreng! Apart from the prices being 7 times higher than there are in Malaysia, which isn't surprising considering it is in London, they also serve alcohol, which only Chinese restaurants in Malaysia do unless they are touristy places! Pretty good food though!
It's been over 10 years since my last visit but one recent Saturday afternoon, after failing to get into the Effra Social due to a private party and wandering around 'Brixton Village' in dismay at the masses of people queuing, we rather reluctantly headed to the Satay Bar. First things first - wow this place is still here! As long as I can remember this restaurant has always been around, which is comforting but like Madame Tussaud's not necessarily somewhere you'd want to visit. I have to admit I'm rather glad I did.
The restaurant itself is dark and moody but spacious and upon entering we were quickly seated. Despite the time there was a healthy number of people and the atmosphere whilst slightly raucous was lively and fun, but then this is Brixton!
Now for the food. I started with the chicken gyoza which was crispy, infused with coriander which I love and quickly eaten. For the main I went for the Thai green chicken curry, which is not particularly adventurous but is a good barometer to judge a Thai restaurant. They got it just right as it was perfectly spiced and I could really taste the fresh lemon grass and the merest hint of sweet basil - I loved it! I wasn't expecting much from dessert but again Satay Bar came through as the cheesecake was delicious although I struggled to identify what was Asian about the compote. All this was accompanied by a fantastically drinkable bottle of Malbec.
My decidedly low expectations were comprehensibly exceeded and I wouldn't hesitate in going back. I certainly won't leave it 10 years to do so either.
3 course meal for 2 plus drinks - approximately £60 (bargain!).
Had a late lunch here. It was quiet with a few customers on my arrival. Whilst looking at the menu a lot more diners arrived. The food arrived very soon after, we had placed our orders. It was all very tasty, I could have done with a bit more spice on mine, though. We ordered several cocktails which just as lovely as the food. The waitresses and bartender were all welcoming, pleasant and attentive.
The only downside here, was the female restroom which was not very pleasant to use. It is in need of maintenance and should be appropriately sanitised all the time.
Visited this venue on the recommendation of my great niece with my sister. We dined in but did not have a booking. They did accommodate us both. The service was a bit slow as only one person was taking all the orders. However, the food was very nice and we both enjoyed what we ordered. I had mixed Singapore rice noodles, and my sister had Nasi Goreng. Would eat here again to try the dishes recommended from my niece.
🌟 Had an amazing girls’ night at Satay Bar! 😋 The food was absolutely delicious, and the service was top-notch. Shoutout to Lee 🙌, who provided exceptional attention to detail and service. Highly recommend and can’t wait to go back for more fun! 🥳🍽️💃
I’ve been hearing so much about this place finally went with my friends. The QR code is a such a clever idea. The food and drink arrive so quick. Food was amazing. Loved my prawn chow mien and katsu prawns. Will defiantly recommend this place.
Love Satay bar, ended up going 2x in one week for different occasions and both times, I was not disappointed! The 🍹 happy hour 5-7pm is brilliant & the alcohol is strong! The food is delicious and portion sizes are big. I'd definitely recommend you book before go, unless it's not during happy hour or is lunchtime. This restaurant has kept it's quality with food and cocktails over the years👌🏽👏🏼
I can see why this place is always packed! The food and drinks here is top tier!! I had duck and rice with veggies and it was so delicious, the flavours, how tender the duck was, the rice! Everything made sense! To top it off, I had a smoothie and it was so good!!! This place is added to one of my favourite places to eat!!! Thank you to the lovely staffs and chefs!!!
Satay bar is great. Big shout out to Daniel! He was very nice and his customer service was amazing. He was extremely attentive and communicative towards us. He gave us great advice on the drinks and he made us laugh a lot. Daniel is a great man.

Cost - 5/5
Ambience - 5/5
The food was nice; the vegetables were a bit too salty and generally lacking in other flavour but the food is nice. Food is not fancy and is without frills but it is comforting and tasty.
Comforting food and environment; friendly and generally attentive staff. From the doorman to the barman, everyone made us feel welcomed and happy to be there.
The pricing is reasonable and the happy hour cocktails are an amazing bargain. Mocktails are the same price; they are equally great.
Seems a little quiet on Sundays so the environment is calm, there are charging ports by the entrance; and they play great music.
Satay Bar is well worth the visit and I’ll definitely visit again!
Sunday afternoon so maybe everybody was feeling flat from a busy Saturday. I dunno but no atmosphere. The good was good though. My favourite was the sticky chicken dish. Enjoyed it and would eat here again.
Great portions, tasty food, not too busy as we went Sunday afternoon.
Cute little place in Brixton. Efficient and honest staff and good good. Ordered the vegetable spring rolls, firey chips and a virgin strawberry Daiquiri.
Food is average but good.
I had such a beautiful time, a young woman called Halle took such great care of us. Her service was impeccable and she was warm and attentive. I thought she was the manager! First time interacting with her and she went above and beyond to make myself and my friends at home. So much so that I’m still here writing this review. Totally impressed! X
Fantastic service and phenomenal food! What a lovely little find.
Will definitely be a regular go to for me and my family.
Daniel was great, was friendly and attentive and had great service. He deserves a raise. We waited over an hour for our dessert that never came sadly but Daniel was helpful and removed it from our Bill.
Big Thanks to Daniel😁
What a wonderful service and food!! We had a lovely time, cocktails and food on point, good price and nice portions. The place is clean and staff attentive.
I hadn't been here in years. It was sill the same. Nice staff, good drinks and really good music. They have happy hour everyday from 5 until 8 so we got quite a few cocktails. The atmosphere was also really nice. The food looked good. So I will definitely be getting some of that next time.
