Khan's butter chicken is legendary and the one by which I rate all others. Also higly recommend the methi gosht and naan e mughziat!
We have been many times, living in London, and enjoyed the foods, and the service of the staff....I recommend !
Have been going to Khans since mid/late 70's good food and consistence all this years mostly still same old waiters with minimum service of 20 years plus except some new arrogant waiter who was extremely rude that the managers and few other waiters had to apologise on his behalf.
But would still go back.
Went to Khans for my Daughter's 21st Birthday Dinner.. We didn't want anything spicy.. Loved all the food that we ordered . We were a family of 10 the pricies were reasonable. I went here a few years ago with 2 of my other Daughters for my Birthday & remembered that the food was nice, so decided to bring the rest of my family here recently & they were all impressed. Thank you Khan's for a nice Evening & for providing the Candles for her Birthday cake that we brought with us . InshAllah we are thinking of coming here for Eid 2017
Having lived in Australia for 38 years it was some time since I last ate there but I was highly delighted that the opened in 1977 to much acclaim restaurant, still is one of the best in London.
I have been going to Khan's for 34 years now. The restaurant has undergone some changes since then. Their food is still good. The caring service there is also to be appreciated.
This is a restaurant that you will keep going back to time and time again.
I personally have been eating here since 1985 and not so much over the last 10 years. I took my wife here last night and she absolutely loved it! For me it was a trip down memory lane I would tell her how great the food was and I’m so pleased to say after all these years this place still turns out great quality authentic food.
I had the Chicken Jalfrezi which was amazing and the King Prawns Masala which was good. I loved the naans and the mango lassi. The service was also very good. Would definitely recommend to everyone and I will be visiting soon.
Best Tikka Masala ever.... Nice staff and good prices, going back as soon as i go to London again😍
One of my favourite restaurant in west london. The taste and quality of the food is always first class. However, its seems restaurant has not enough staff to provide quick service. I suggest khan's should improve the service. overall food is excellent.
a place i´m going to since 1986... best indian food i ever had!!
Such a great Indian place where one can have one of the best Indian dishes at great prices and prompt and punctual service with the help of a very friendly and professional staff too.
Wonderful! Typical Indian food with well-dosed portions, all very tasty! I advise tandoori king prawn. For a Portuguese tourist like myself it's a bit expensive, but it fits into London prices. to be repeated certainly !!
We really enjoyed it. Recommend the garlic naan, chicken samoosas, chicken tikka masala and tandoori king prawn masala! Affordable and efficient.
Stylish Indian restaurant with spacious seating area for small groups of a large party. The food is a mixture of authentic tastes and also adapted dishes for the western palette. If is a well known and established brand popular with locals and people that may travel just to experience Khan. The food is very good with a high standard of cooking but portions are small and expensive as compared to other Indian restaurants. Your paying more for the location than the food.
Worth every penny for its offering.. a very homely staff.. authentic taste of the food with limited localisation of the flavours...
Best to try - Bhuna Ghost and the Garlic Naan, the Mutton Or Chicken Tikka Biryani, the Mango Lassi or may the veg or non veg thalis.. If you around lunch - don’t miss out the lunch buffet, Monday- Friday
my first dine in in london and i chose this authentic cuisine restaurant...khan’s... on christmas this place was absolutely jam packed...not a single table to sit...u gotta wait no other option...the service was understandably too slow...coming to the food...i find it a bit hyped...being from india i have tasted much more better kebabs and butter chicken than this place...but considering such a place in london ... i will still give it full marks for the preparation!!...seekh kebabs were the best followed by chicken tikka...butter chicken was too sweet to our liking... the price is well worthy and the entire experience is a memorable one!!
Was there with a group of 15 on Thursday night. The booking was at 8 but some people got there a bit early and therefore had a long waiting period to get seated. I did find that the waiting staff had a bit of an attitude and wouldn't respond when spoken to.
I should clarify that the meal had been a part of a set meal plan and had been already paid for. Thus even after we got to our seats after a long wait, we had to wait further for the food to arrive as the owner/manager wad very bullish and informed us that the food will only be served when all 15 have arrived. Bit of an odd experience for me as all other places have the waiting staff falling over each other to serve you and here they weren't interested in serving us properly, again I guess as they already had the cash in their pockets and our walking out wouldnt have affected them..
The food, when it arrived however, was absolutely delish and couldn't find fault with it even if I tried. Quantities were appropriate and everyone really enjoyed the food.
Ultimately the experience which should have been a great one was only marred by the deplorable service and the long waiting times. I would only recommend it if uou are in small groups or are going with a set of very punctual people who won't be late.
Was visiting UK with my family and we had our accommodation in Bayswater. Found this place around the corner. The food was great, especially the biryanis!
For an Indian traveller , having own country food in overseas country is a bliss. Khan was just that for us when we went for travelling to London. We had our place in Notting Hill and after whole day of sightseeing and fun we craved to have Indian food. Thanks to nearby search in Zomato we found this place close to our place.
We ordered takeaway on our first dinner . Actually we liked the food so much we ate for all the four nights from this place . Nicely decorated and just the ambience one would like after a tiring day . Bar on one side and tables on other. We had different types of chicken curries on all the days . All were excellent dishes. Little bland for our Indian palette though. The chicken biryani was the best . Perfectly cooked rice with succulent pieces of chicken. Dal again could have been spicier . To match our spice cravings we used to order extra onions and green chilled with our takeaway. All the family members liked it.
Khans was a lifesaver in a distant land.
Gr8 food. Cheaper than other indian restaurants.
Mostly busy. Had been there 3 times in my 10 days of stay at London. Biryani, butter chicken, grill....all tastes better each time you visit.
Tasty indian food just the way it should be 🤤, been going here for years 😄
Only thing i would say that needs improvement is the ambience as it isnt the "poshest" indian restaurant i've been to.
A London classic since the 70s, Khans is always a delight and a popular neighborhood place. This is the kind of place that only gets it right with the food; the decoration is so taseteless and stale that I believe even when it opened in the 70s it looked shabby. The restaurant is so huge it evokes an aura similar to that of a large cafeteria in an American college. And one last thing; all your clothes will smell like Indian food when you're done, no matter how far you sit away from the kitchen. The powerful scent will reach you and immerse itself within every piece of clothing on you. So in light of all this, what does Khans get right to be always full every single day of the week? They get it right with food and only the food. Their naans are amazing; I order a chili naan which is not on the menu and depending on the chef's mood, I either get it or I don't. Chicken korma is really their star dish; an eclectic creamy mix with just the right amount of spices. I don't usually order seafood in Indian restaurants but their Prawn Bhuna is unbeatable. Their tandoori chicken is very popular though I found it to be a bit too dry for my liking. The dhal was disappointing though and it's too bad they don't do dhal maakni. I always have dessert after Indian, and it's always the refreshing coconut ice cream. If you don't mind to sit in a mediocre ambiance and have the willingness to throw all your clothes in the laundry afterwards, then you will enjoy their very good food for excellent value at a London classic. Final Verdict: 7/10. £20-£25 per person

If you are craving for Indian food here in London than this place wont let you down. Great food in budget. The food here is very tasty. I really love the Biryani and the curry. The service is bit slow here and needs an improvement.
A truly desi place with authentic punjabi and hyderabadi food in London.
A must try is khan's Special Kulfi, we could never know the special ingredient though.
One of the best Indian restaurants in London. I really love the biryani and the curry. Even though we had to wait for an hour it was worth it. The service was a bit slow I thought.
i started going to khan's when my wife and i were students - it was a treat back then to have a relatively cheap tasty meal in bayswater. twenty years on, we still go back to khan's with our family. it remains relatively cheap for bayswater, and indeed london, and the restaurant retains the same character and menu.
it has always had a very distinctive level of service - we have to harrass the waiters to get service and the bill, but once the order is made, the food is produced very quickly. if you are pro-active, you will get service quickly
we dont like everything on the menu, but we know that most of the menu is to our taste and we know what we like. not keen on the tandoori chicken - the food colorant stains fingertips for days - but i recommend the rogan josh, although it some people may find it a bit mild. i have found the meat to be free of gristle.
khan's has never served alcohol - despite the loss in revenue that must accompany this - but this makes it good for families and there is a broad range of soft drinks, smoothies and non alcoholic cocktails.
it is always full - for a reason - the food is reasonable and the quality and taste is consistent. worth a visit if you are in bayswater/queensway area.
Great food, quick service even when the place was jammed. No booze available which we were not use to. But sure helps keep the bill price down.
GOOD FOOD Low Price. Do not expect any special service but the food is great.
So we decided to have this lunch buffet this time. Having buffet all around world i expected many options. I was disappointed to see only 2 starters.. sheek kebaba and aloo tikki. There are lot of options they could add. In main course chicken bunna and chicken korma was nice. Peas paneer was tasty. Naan were pre made and weren't hot. There was this entire dish of naan made and the restaurant had only 2 people eating buffet. They should have biryani instead of boiled rice. i have no idea why egg fried rice was an option.
There were no sweets as a part of buffet and nor drink.
So if you are more into mains by quantity buffet is the right option. Go for ala cartè if you are thinking of drinks and desert. £9.50 is still a good price.
I happend to be in Notting Hill around lunch time and just when I was looking for options to eat I came across Khan's. Although I had heard about the legendary (has been around for more than 30 years) restaurant from friends but did not realize how near I was from it so ended up going for it, we went for their 'Lunch Buffet' and I have to say it was one of the most value for money meals I have had in London. There was a lot of food and most of stuff i tried was pretty good. I also liked the decor and how they have kept the interiors quite simple which actually reminds you of Old Delhi to some extent. Had a great lunch buffet for just £ 9.50 - A must Try!
Finally i had the chance to dine in at khans of Bayswater on Monday before flying back to Canada. Khans was highly recommended by a lot of friends who are frequent visitors to the city of London and love the vibrancy of this happening city !
Khan's of Bayswater is pretty much in the middle of where all the action in the city takes place, its close proximity to major landmarks in the area such as the Hyde Park, Whiteley's Shopping center, Museum of brands, the famous Edgware road and its shisha lounges, Oxford street, Marble Arch and Paddington Station to name a few, makes it very easily accessible through public transport. You can get off at Queensway station, Bayswater Station or Royal Oak station and walk your way through to Khan's.
Dining area of the restaurant is expansive and smells of delicious indian curries. Their food is straight authentic, no fusions and no experiments.I ordered a portion of seekh kebabs and a keema nan as starter with crispy poppadoms served with indian condiments. The kebabs were served on a sizzler were fresh and had a very distinctive taste of the ones baked in clay oven with charcoal. For the mains I ordered a lamb tikka biryani with spicy vindaloo sauce and mango lassi and faluda. I thoroughly enjoyed the food and wholesomeness of an authentic indian cooking.
After having a great Indian meal I walked out of the restaurant with a feeling of fulfillment and an urge to return soon !
An absolute treat if you really like indian food . Do try the kebabs and biryani
I just love their nan e mughziat ! I normally order a portion of lamb sheek kebabs, spicy tandoori chicken chili masala and pilaf rice with plenty of mango lassi..tandoori chicken masala is not on the menu but they do it on request..always a pleasure to be at khans..
Khan's rules the roost amongst all the neighbouring restaurants in this food haven of London. Its always busy and everyones on their toes in this moderately done restaurant. That explains the quality and taste of the food served inside.
Serving delicious Indian food and making it at unbelievable speed is the USP of this place. The place is big and spread out with Asians and non Asians enjoying the cuisine.
They serve excellent starters and you can feel free to pick either chicken or lamb dishes. The naans and rotis are freshly prepared and are a treat to go with the authentically prepared gravies. The grean peas with minced meat is an excellent choice to have and the lamb biryani is something to fight for. Dont miss to mix the raita with it... Ummmm thats heavenly!
Avoid the sea food and prawn dishes, they lack the skill to cook that, but otherwise this place is a place to order blindly and you wont be disappointed.
Definitely recommend to try Indian food here!
In the district of restaurants "Khans" stands out more than the others! The service is indifferent neither too sweet nor too rude. The place is always crowded with people, full with both Asian and non-asian looking crowd. The menu is vast and there is enough to impress all. Getting good spicy indian food in London is quite pleasing and makes the stomach very content.
The place is moderately priced, one can't really call it cheap but it is value for money.
The quantities are quite huge so a doggy bag is expected.
Besides the yummy Indian food (as the name suggests) , Khans has yummy milk shakes! thick and tasty! It can fill you up on its own! More of the main course than an accompanying drink! The ferrero rocher shake or the snickers shake have so much of the chocolate in it that it makes the shake irresistable!
Where to start ... An Indian friend made me discover my arrival in London. This is a real institution and deserves to be present in all the tourist guides next to the Big Ben page (ok I exaggerate again!).
The card is falling, there is something for everyone, a variation of curry incredible and more than wide choice.
The first time, one is impressed by the size of the restaurant, it's a little plant that abounds in the kitchen, it stirs many service ...
But we quickly forget. The service is quite nice and very responsive, it does not push you towards the exit when finished. It delivers in the kitchen and the food is ultra fresh.
In several years, I've had time to test (almost) any map, and I've never been disappointed. I continue to say that we have the best chicken tika masala ever.
Obviously you come out with a doggy bag (impossible to finish the dishes).
The Khans are 30taine past year and is a must for Londoners, we came across also many Indians, which is usually a good sign.
The authentic cuisine, well executed, seamless and very affordable, a must!
One question ... when is the loyalty card!
When you visit London for the first time, after a tiring session of sightseeing all you want is good food and a place to relax. So when my friend asked me what do you want to eat, I said "Butter Chicken and Naan." She took me to Khan's and said that they are one of the best Indian restaurants in London. I trusted her ! If you are alighting at Bayswater tube station, you would take nearly 15-20 mins to walk up to the restaurant. The place is huge and there is no chance you would miss it ! So, we reached our destination with "Butter Chicken" on my mind ! We were seated and I think the staff was well okay ! I would say they were neutral, neither friendly nor rude which is kind of odd in my opinion. We placed an order for butter chicken, chicken dhansaak, lamb pasanda and plain naans. I have to tell you we had to wait for a really long time before were were served. Or maybe I was impatient but I would say that the waiting time is roughly 30-40 minutes. Well, I understand they were very busy because the restaurant was buzzing with people but how do you explain that to your grumbling tummy !! Finally, the food arrived and we started off almost immediately. The butter chicken was good, I wouldn't say it was very good because I have tasted like more than 100s of butter chicken dishes back home but then compared to what you get in England, this was undoubtedly the best one ! Chicken Dhansaak was nice. I was trying this dish for the first time and I liked it. Its chicken cooked with lentils and the flavor is hot n sweet. The mix of flavors feels good in your mouth. Its an authentic Parsi dish. The lamb Pasanda was too sweet for my taste. I don't like the flavor of coconut so I didn't like it much. It was too plain in my opinion but my friends liked it. They said they had done a good job on it because it takes a lot of effort as they have to use melon seeds in the dish. So they give a thumbs up to lamb pasanda and u can happily ignore my opinion ! The naans were good but I dunno what is it with the Indian restaurants in England, they never come up with the authentic and original naan ! This is more like a fluffy tandoori roti ! I was disappointed with the naan ! All in all, the food was good and the price was very reasonable. You can go there without burning a hole in your pocket, trust me coz I know what its like if your living on a student budget in London. At the end of the day, the butter chicken was successful in bringing a smile to my face but the naan can be altered, please !
P.S. If you plan to use the washroom here, please remember your way in coz its like a maze and you might end up coming out from a different place altogether ;) Happy Eating :)
Absolutely love this restaurant, the most authentic Indian food, and has been for years! You will not find Indian cuisine like Khan’s anywhere else.
Chicken beautifully tender, rice top notch, flavours absolutely perfect, this is definitely worth the visit.
Super speedy service, and very pretty and spacious seating.
Will 100% be coming back.
The butter, chicken, chicken, korma, chicken tikka masala, and Pilau rice were delicious. The lamb chops were a little tough so we won’t be getting those again next time but everything else was absolutely delicious. Garlic naan was amazing too
Place I have visited many times.
When I li ed in the area I would go at least one a week.
That is why for me it is a must when I am in the area.
Today went with my family and for me is a highly recommended place to eat.
Brings me good memories for the past 33 years.
No thrills (or licence, not even bring your own alcohol), but absolutely glorious food
I think this was the hottest Chicken Jalfrazi that I have ever eaten, I could be not have got through it without the glass of milk!
Seriously tasty, and upper efficient service. There is a reason this place has been here for years.
We've found khan's restaurant in london by walking and gave them a try. Their food was so nice according to your taste. Staff is so co operative. They mentioned details about the dish you're ordering at that time. Quite busy restaurant. Neat and clean enviroment with a good taste
One of the very few authentic Indian restaurants that has been consistent with the taste of the dishes as well as the service provided for over 35 years. People from all over the world come to Khan's and try their amazing dishes. Whether you are a vegetarian or a non vegetarian, you will have plenty to select and choose from their extensive menu. Pravin, Jerry, and the rest of the team of Khan's offer a great service to all of their customers and they have been doing so for many years. You will feel welcomed from the moment you step into the restaurant. You will not be disappointed!
Nice food at reasonable prices, quick service and no fuss. I loved the tandoori tikka and nan, as well as the tandoori lamb chops. Whenever I am in London I always try to have a meal at khan.
Came here for a Ramadan Iftar. This restaurant has some of the best and tastiest Indian food I had in London so far. I would definitely come here again for an authentic taste of India.
Food is good. The ambience laid back and cosy. The waiting staff were very busy perhaps because of staffing due to it being Christmas eve. It was still acceptable. Do try the butter chicken.
Had lunch here. Excellent food in a laid back atmosphere. I wouldn’t call it fine dining but the food is very tasty and staff friendly. Definitely would go back here again.
Khan's is one my favorite restaurant in London they are running the shop for long time in Westbourne Grove..food is very tasty Tandoori fish tandoori chicken All kind of rices all biryanis very tasty every time i go there I can't stop myself eating over then my limits That's why i dont go there so often:) if you want to eat real Indian food this address is for you they do have a experience over the years still the same quality I like it very much.... service is average waiters must be working there for years i always see same guys...
With family and friends we have been frequenting Khan's for over 30 years. The food is always amazing and well known through many circles. The staff always friendly and dedicated, some of them have been there for decades! If you're looking for the best quality food, Khan's is the place to dine.
This is the most delicious and affordable Indian food in London. The food is very authentic and honestly hit the spot. We bought a variety of dishes, chicken and meat curry, with naan and chicken biryani. Everything was very very tasty. The drinks are a bit expensive, but otherwise the food itself was very well priced. There is such a calm vibe to the restaurant, and the staff are very accommodating and kind. 100% recommend!
The chicken butter is amazinng 10/10, the bhuna gosht was 8/10, as i think the meat should of cook more to be more tender, as it was a bit Chewy.
Very authentic and tasty Indian food. People are super nice and the place is big. They have good restroom too.
